Just a RAVE about a Windsor Hills Townhome!

We're just back from Disney, and we stayed in a townhome at Windsor Hills....it was simply wonderful! 3 beds/3baths/splash pool....REALLY close to disney. In fact, I think it's easier to get into and out of the parks with your own car than waiting for crowded buses to the resorts. (BTW, coming out of Magic Kingdom after fireworks is a drag unless you use the 'resort' monorail....just get off at the second stop.)

We've stayed at Vistana and Cypress Pointe when off property in the past, and while they were certainly nice, I'll never go back after staying at WH. Closer to Disney parks, much larger space, private splash pool, etc. And we had no issues with ants....I know this was a big question mark for us.

Our home was called 'Closetothemagic' on Fitzclarence. We had an end unit which made the pool area more open and sunny. We also backed up to the beautiful commons area. One of the bedrooms was mickey themed, and there were Disney touches here and there. Very pleasant, and very convenient!

Glad you guys had a great time, welcome to the "secret" club of those who've discovered Windsor Hills Resort! We loved our stay there so much we went back a 2nd year, and loved it so much the 2nd time we bought a place! LOL It was one of the best vacations we've had anywhere, EVER it was so great! I was down there last weekend with my "guy" buddies for a 4 day golf trip, they loved our home so much I had a hard time getting them to leave!

Who did you book this through? Is there a website? I am looking at this for our trip in the fall of 2007.

To book directly from the owners at Windsor Hills Resort please visit:

www.windsorhillsrent.com !! :thumbsup2

From there you can see individual owner's calendars, links to their websites, and make inquiries of specific homes, all homes, or by size (2 bedroom, 3 bedroom, 4, and 5/6 bedroom).

- George (we own 2 townhomes there ourselves)

What exactly is a splash pool? I keep seeing this when looking at offsite condos.

Here! A picture is worth a 1000 words sometimes...it's like 12' x 12' pool...3' deep in the shallow end 5' deep in the deep end, screened in under a lanai. In ours you can open up the back of the house and watch the plasma TV from sitting in the pool!

Cindy-
That is the exact TH we have booked in April!
I am so glad you had a good experience!
Were you able to get wireless internet there? Anything you would bring with you that wasn't there? Thanks for sharing with us!

Thanks so much!! If you rent these townhomes, can you also use the resort facilities such as the giant resort pool as well? Any restaurants on site?

Yes you can use all the clubhouse facilities and main pool for free no matter what you stay in at Windsor Hills. It's great. There are no restaurants on site only a convience store but there are many restaurants within 2 or 3 min on 192.

Hi Guys....yes the owner was Lisa. The home was beautiful, bedsheets were awesome! The kitchen was suberbly stocked for cooking (not food, but tons of pans and stuff.) PLENTY of towels. You'll need your own toiletries and cleaners, as the start up pack didn't last long. Don't forget garbage bags.

There wasn't wireless per se, but dh somehow got spotty wireless. He might've hacked into something though;)

We visited the big resort pool one day, and it was very nice (little guys loved the shooting fountain), but we enjoyed our own private splash pool for the most part. I also appreciated having an end unit as the back wasn't so closed off....although not as private. 'Course we only saw maybe 5 people pass by the whole week. Very quiet. :o)

Will definitely stay again!

LOL...we've found when we're at our townhome that we can "see" about 10 of the neighbor's wireless access points, and for some reason, most of them aren't "secured". (Ours is). So chances are pretty good if your laptop has WiFi you're going to be able to get online!

I too have to rave about Windsor Hills (see my trip report in the Trip Reports discussion board). We had absolutely nothing negative to say about it and will definitely return. I can't imagine staying anywhere else. Thanks again George for all of your information and help. It was awesome!!

I'm confused about this - is the second stop the TTC? Or do you have to walk back to the TTC?

The resort monorail goes the opposite direction....first stop is the Contemporary, the second is the TTC.

The other monorail goes towards the GF, then the Poly, then the TCC, but doesn't stop at those resorts...just zips by on it's way to the TCC. But the lines are atrocious!

hth.

The 2nd stop on the resort monorail is the TTC...yes.. we've found that the monorail and the boats both are kind of a drag..VERY crowded..you're going to wait in huge lines to get on either one...pick your evil basically. In our case we usually have 2 tired and mostly asleep kids in strollers by this point, and you're in a huge sea of people all leaving at once. Then you get to the TTC and have to take the trams to get out to your car. It's just a pain in general to get in and out of MK.

Epcot, MGM, AK, are tons easier.

Awesome tip! Thanks! I just wanted to make sure I understood correctly! We are heading to Windsor Hills this weekend so I really appreciated your post!

Enjoy, you're sure leaving the frozen midwest at a great time, I'm jealous! LOL

Don't forget to order a pizza from Giordano's for delivery to WHR some night while you're there if you decide to spend an evening at home one night!
