Hmmm. Our Charlotte's Walter Mitty is a little too close to life imitating art.
Charlotte, the henpecker, drove Walter, the henpeckee to escape to the Gor world of fantasy.

My biggest problem was the title of the thread "Do you think what my husband is doing is wrong?" Not if you're a regular on Jerry Springer.

But it did make for some interesting late night DISing

Well I guess the MODS had a responsibility...after all this was getting creepy...naked photos online, masters and slaves, gor (whatever that is), fiction and fantasy all mixed in, WALTER MITTY and CHARLOTTE'S WEB along with a blonde haired lady with reddish streaks named PEGGY....

You know as I read this above POST....it really leaves me thinking....was this all a SCAM? Posting under another name BOTH of them. All of a sudden someone signs on as "WALTSPEGGY"....think about all this everyone....I think we really got scammed!!!
This happened to me and many who Posted on POWER SURGE. A woman came on and posted AS HER HUSBAND to say his poor wife committed suicide. It threw everyone into such an intense period of SADNESS. Everyone was posting back and forth! Her location was Australia and she had been friendly with so many people on the Message Boards that actually someone from the MIDWEST (USA) got the Police in Australia involved and all the while she is posting as the bereaved Husband. They knocked on her door and she was ALIVE AND WELL.....Posters were absolutely so incredibly mad at a scammed pulled by a long time member but they decided it was a case of depression. She was REMOVED from the site never to post again ever!

There was another thread on here about someone dying that I personally checked out and it unless the poster lied about a bunch of stuff...it was absolutely bogus. Hundreds of condolence posts, though.

Ya, really, come on! What is the point of posting nonsense (if it really was and it is leaning towards that)!! What does someone gain from it? I mean ya, I will agree it pulled me in last night and I was reading and posting BUT like

Not accepting that A)What your husband is doing is indeed wrong and B)You are at least partially responsible and C) You need to do something about it NOW.
I just feel like after reading through the original post with a fine toothed comb and Walter's post, it was just too parallel with the story of Walter Mitty. How about this--Perhaps this DISer is a scholar working a thesis titled "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and It's Social and Emotional Impact in Today's Society as Circumstantiated Via Operational Study With DISboard Habitues." Yeah, that's it.

Not accepting that A)What your husband is doing is indeed wrong and B)You are at least partially responsible and C) You need to do something about it NOW.

Having gone through something kind of similar, I can understand why she might have been in denial (if it was indeed real). My DH had me second guessing myself so much that I didn't know what any reasonable person would do in any given situation. It took him walking out the door for me to clear my head of all the nonsense.

Anyway I'm like you and just hope it was all a big scam.

I'll just add this. Charlotte, if you're for real, God bless you. I hope Walter gets it together, Peggy gets lost, and you get to the other side of this in one piece.
If it was a scam, as I suspect it was, it was an interesting ride and was a strange reminder of how blessed I am and that I need to go hug DH's neck.

jsut another reason why we should not get too wrapped up in others lives. and when people come on here asking for advice that most of know sounds too pathetic, or weird, we must learn to ignore it. this is precisely why i tend to not take too seriously anyone that posts these supposed big problems on these boards. why do it? if it is real, get some real advice from people you know and trust. not anonymous, amateur therapists.

Now if a DISer's husband was at the Poly chatting with a woman he met at Space Mountain, while DISer lady was back at Pop Century refilling last year's mugs, then we'd all be qualified to blast her with our opinions. We might even be able to send a vacationing DISer over to spy and give us a play by play.
