I found that they do not accept DDE card on major holidays. It probably says that somewhere in the paperwork that came with it, but I didn't remember it. No big deal. Our meal was great and worth the money either way. I just want to warn others.

It does indeed say this in the paperwork. There is also a disclaimer saying that restaurants can change their policy and that you should check with them before visiting to confirm if there are any other restrictions. This concerned me since we were going Christmas week and I was hoping they would still accept the DDE the day after Christmas, etc. This turned out to be the case as we were able to use the card several times last week after Christmas day and were never questioned.

It does say that on the paperwork although we have used in on Xmas, Mother's Day, and others where they have willingly accepted it. So maybe the CM's made a mistake or maybe they didn't know....but we haev used it over the course of the past three years on "holiday's" and not had a problem.

We were there over Christmas too. We knew the restrictions ahead of time, but asked anyway. We were not able to use the DDE for the $40 Christmas At The Fort Dinner Show Christmas Day., or Kona Cafe on Christmas Eve. With just the two of us over 7 days, we were able to recoup the $50 cost of the card in this trip alone. Pop Food Court and SSR Food Court took the card on Christmas Eve. We didn't try on Christmas Day.

We used ours at LTT on Christmas Eve, but could not use it at Le Celier on Christmas Day.

It depends on the restaurants and servers.
Until this year, the DDE was good at restaurants on major holidays.
That changed without notice January 1. We found out when we went to use it January 1, 2005 at Rose & Crown.
Some restaurants DO honor it, even on holidays.
We had a DDE discount TODAY (January 1, 06) at Ragland Road for our lunch. :goodvibes

And Pop food court honored ours Christmas Day too.

We have been able to use it once on a major holiday but we had a server who was new and probably didn't know the rules. Other times the servers are nice when telling us that they can't take it and seem to be apologetic.

We used ours at Kona Cafe on thanksgiving day...but not allowed today Jan 1st at GF cafe..guess it's up to the managers.

They would not allow us to use it at Cinderella's Royal Table on Mother's Day.

Where can I find out more about the DDE card? Trying to figure out the most economical way of planning our food budget. I will look into the Disney Dining Plan too, but this is the first I've heard of DDE. Thanks and Happy New year.

I don't know that it just started on January 1, 2005. My friend was not permitted to use his at Flying Fish on Christmas day 2004 and he wasn't allowed to make use of the valet parking benefit.

It clearly states it in the opening letter when your card arrives to you.

I don't think she ever said it wasn't there. She was just nice enough to remind folks!

We were able to use it at CRT on Christmas Day.

It does say it on the paperwork but I was able to use it at Boatwright's for breakfast. I put it in with the check just out of habit and the server took the 20% off when the final bill was brought back to me. At the 50's Prime Time Cafe where we had our Thanksgiving Day meal they were not accepting the DDE card. Not a big deal. It cannot hurt to ask. What is the worse they can say. No.

2004 we used our DDE discount on all major holidays at many WDW restaurants, including very popular places and character meals.
It was a year ago today that discount stopped, without notice. And the first (and probably only time except at renewal in the Spring) I heard about it was here on the Dis.

I called early last year and was told the DDE discount is allowed holiday by holiday by SOME restaurants.
We just eat either where they allow the discount, or home/off-site.
