My friend and I are new AP holders, twice we ate at The Rain Forest Cafe and both times we forgot to show a card for the discount!

Anyway, we didn't know this, but if you are with a small party say like 2-3 adults, and you don't really care if you are seated amongst the animals, you can go directly to the bar area and dine there. You don't have to sit at the actual bar, there are several small tables available. You can also order food to go.

My friend and I were there a few days before X-Mas and the wait was 2 hours. We originally wanted food-to-go for our hotel room which can be ordered through the bar, that's when we learned that we could also eat there if we wanted, which we did and felt really bad for the people waiting in line :rotfl: .

Thanks for this info - we were thinking of going there during our trip and from what I have read part of the fun with this cafe is eating among the animals!

That is a great tip, but also, aside from the bar idea (that's called the Magic Mushroom Lounge, I think!), I would never eat at RFC again without a Priority Seating booking. After waiting an hour once to eat, I only make PS's now!!

Oh, also - the AP discounts are limited at RFC. I think you can only get the discount up until certain times - like breakfast and lunch are okay for AP discounts but not dinner. ESPN Zone has a similar set-up, I think, and equally long waits for tables!

Thanks for sharing!

I know that when DH and I went this past April we didn`t have rezzies but we got a table right away, I think it`s cause we were only 2 and not a large party cause there were lots of families waiting and we got in right away.

We are members of the Safari Club. With the frequency that we go to DL (and we eat at RFC just about every trip) it was a good deal for us. We are normally a party of 4 and we rarely wait more than 45 minutes, and that's at dinner time in the middle of July. :) The Safari Club gives you priority over others and since we don't like to eat at a set time most days we just walk up. The club is $10 for a lifetime and you get a $10 certificate in the mail towards your next meal, you get the priority seating and either 10% off your meal or a free appetizer. We usually go with the free appetizer. :)

Us too!

And I've heard that you can go and apply for the Safari Club and pay the fee right then, and take advantage of the priority seating right then. Worked at our local one, and I've heard it works at the Disney ones.

Yes, this is true. I bought a Safari club membership when I was there last month (DL). I haven't gotten my official card yet, though. It has been about 5 weeks so I imagine it will come soon.

Also, the cost is now $15.

Ohh that's cool, I didn't know that. When we bought in we had a PS so we didn't have to wait for our table long. But we did get to use it that day for a free appetizer! Do they have the crab dip back yet? That was my fave!!!

They took the crab dip away? Oh that makes me sad! I am also a Safari Card holder, I have used it in both WDW and DL and it has more than paid for itself.

My husband and I have done take out there a time or two and we have sat at the bar and had a drink while we waited. Its never crowed at that bar so that's also a good tip for adults who don't want to wait for a table.

Nope :sad2: crab dip is gone. We dined week of halloween, and when I asked waiter said it was no longer offered. It's now a spinich and artichoke dip which was ok but is offered everywhere now days.

Ya, the crab dip is so much better than the spinach & artichoke dip. I wish they would do the crab dip again. They gave us some story about the head chef not liking the crab they've been getting.....that was in July, they should have new crab by now right? lol

DD & I went to DL a few weeks ago to enjoy all the Christmas stuff and ate at RFC. The wait was about 30 minutes and we didn't want to wait so sat at the bar. A football game was on the TV facing us. Although we had no wait, the service was so-so as our "bartender" was busy making drinks and chit-chatting with all the other servers. We each had iced tea and fish and chips. With Safari Club discount and tip it was a little over $40. Considering we didn't get any of the "ambiance", we felt kinda gyped. Anyway, I normally give them a big thumbs up, but don't think we'll be dining in the bar again. Just my 2 cents.:)

Ye be ware thar be varmints scurrying up yer pant leg. We here on the pirate ship, gladly trap these pesties, and cook em' up right and proper we do. We eat em morn in noon and often fer dinner. We also just began deliverin. At this time, however we regret to state that thar be no tellin as to the quality of our catch, I mean meal at the time of delivery. NO REFUNDS......and all complaints shall be directed to the plank, where upon one will receive a one way ticket to Davey Jones locker! And beware of the Kraken!............

Remember that jiminy cricket might be wanting to nibble at one's toes. So whatever you do, do not wear flip flops, or any other kind of thin little sandal. Believe me, I have read stories............. (Sigh)

Gisele...are you refering to the Possom incident?
You are too funny, girl!:rotfl2:

That is affirmative lulubelle! Merci beaucoup!
You will now receive a discount off of the pirates menu. Jiminy Cricket is giving no discounts at this time. For there is a clause in his contract that strictly forbids him to do so.
By the way, the pirates and I, very much like your photo. We think that it is beautiful. Matter of fact, some of the pirates are thinking about pinching your purse strings, because they are jealous that you, your DH and even Santa! are photogenic! Although poor Santa looks hot, and not in a hunky way either. (I feel his beads of perspiration upon my forehead now, and it ain't pretty! ) ;) :)
