Just a Dream Away- The Imagineering Thread*Are you curious, imaginative, dedicated?

They also will use Musion in the queue. It's a type of hologram that looks real. They use it for Dumbledore giving a speech about muggles being allowed into Hogwarts for the first time, plus when you see Harry, Ron & Hermione.

The plot is that Hogwarts is allowing muggles into Hogwarts for the first time, and you're going to see a lecture from Professor Binns about the history of Hogwarts in the Defence Against the Dark Arts room (no idea why it's not in the History of Magic room, but it doesn't matter). Before you have the lecture, the gang appear from under the invisibility cloak to take you away from the lecture and to a Quidditch match. You meet up with them in the Room of Requirement, and Hermionie enchants the benches to fly. Of course, it's not that simple and you meet up with a bunch of creatures from the books. Seeing as it starts with floo powder, I guess you end up coming out of the wrong fireplace.

That's a video showing the announcement of the ride. They show different parts of the queue from around 4 minutes. The portraits look amazing. They look nothing like you're watching a video!

So I finished mailing in all of my forms for my precollege program thingy... yeah I know it's not directly relating to being an imagineer, but I consider it my first few steps :D

Good luck with all that.

How about a mini-challenge? Create a roller-coaster for Adventureland themed around the Jungle Book. Describe the track type (wood, steel, handing, etc.), the plot of the ride, any specific theme elements, and optional pictures. Have fun!

that sounds really fun! I'm going to do that... :goodvibes

I just had to Wiki the story of the Jungle Book xD
I've seen it, it's just not really a favorite of mine.. hmm..

I just chose the first movie that came to my head, and then chose the most appropriate area for it to be built (another area would be Asia in Animal Kingdom, but there's already a major rollercoaster there).

Just to elaborate on the track type. Just decide how the track is I guess. Steel would be like Big Thunder Mountain (I think...). Wild mouse would be like Space Mountain. Hanging rollercoaster would be like Krakken in Seaworld. Flying coaster would be like Manta, also in Seaworld. KUKA arm coaster would be like Harry Potter & the Forbidden Journey. So on, and so on. I guess you guys already knew that, but oh well.

So things to include. Plot, rollercoaster track, description of the queue (just added that), any significant theming throughout the attraction, and optional pictures.

If you do well, you can win a picture of a sugar-free cookie!

I'd say Wild Mouse is more like Primeval Whirl.. but I think I have an idea.. more in the next post!

Oh-kay.
So it's going to be an indoor coaster, in fact I'm going to cop out and make it similar to the Indiana Jones attraction at Disneyland in style.. a good mix of audioanimatronics and high speed but not like RnRC.

Plot: More on this later, maybe, but a group of tourists (the guests) who want to explore the jungle. After finding the touring office abandoned, they ignore warnings and decide to take their own tour through the jungle using the still functioning jeeps sitting out back. *looks outdoors, but is really indoors*

Once the guests are loaded into the jeeps, it stalls a few times before slowly starting up. The radio fizzles on, a frantic voice demands to know who's taken the jeeps and tells the guests to turn around, NOW.. but fizzles out in static before any more warnings.

The jeep enters a dense jungle, now, astute guests can notice yellow eyes gazing at them, the jungle gets darker and thicker and large growls are now heard. Being suspicious, the jeep accelerates out of there. Shere Khan leaps out of the bushes, the jeep "reacts".

Various other scenes include:
entering a clearing with Kaa and being slowed down by his hypnotic gaze before once again accelerating before being eaten.

King Louie sending primates after the jeep to try to stop the humans to get the secret of fire.

Climax:
Growls/eyes start up again, the jeep begins to stall. Shere Khan is crouched on a rock, growling, ready to pounce, but as he leaps the jeep accelerates and quickly speeds through several minutes of jungle including a rickety bridge over a river, all the while being stalked by the tiger.

Finally, the guests arrive back at touring office, safe, and understanding why it had been abandoned in the first place.

The queue is going to be an abandoned Jungle Tour jeep port.

A sign out front says "Jungle Expeditions" but has a very large CLOSED sign hanging underneath

Tin roof, "rotted" wooden walls, indoor/outdoor portions.
Obvious damage done to the inside of the offices, with posters warning of vicious tigers in the area. Also warnings about the various snakes and increasingly violent primates in the area. Walls have scratch marks on the inside, pictures are shredded.

There's a pile of matches on the floor, like somebody was trying to start a fire but failed..

There's cobwebs, broken windows, etc.

One room is jeeps in for repair, finally you end up "out back" with a row of rickety-looking jeeps waiting for load.

Uhh.. so how's that for off the top of my head? xD

Oh and the animatronics will be much more realistic/scarier than the their animated counterparts.

That would be a pretty awesome ride. I would try to think up something, but it's too late for creative thinking atm...

So.. anybody getting the revised/new version of "Imagineering.. Behind the Dreams Look at Making MORE Magic Real"?

Comes out next month n'all.
I probably will... my copy of the old version is paperback and this one is hardcover, too.

ooo! great idea! And how's about being chased by Shere Khan and you can here him behind you but you can't see him (I don't know why someone would turn around while tehir Jeep is going fast on a very bumpy trail...But I know I would do it xD)
It's a great alternative to replicating the Indiana Jones ride. Seeing as how people want Indy in WDW.
And what about an Asian Elephant stampede? :D I love Elphants and animals stampedeing(sp?) :3dglasses

I hated the Maliboomer scream shields. Ugh. They ruined a good view. I hope a something good replaces it.
