Just a Couple of Questions

My husband and I have just made reservations for August with my 5 children and I am wondering about a few things.

1) Can you request a certian loop? If so which one and how far in advance can you do this?

2) Can you drive your car around the campground or only take a bus? Where do you put your car (we will be towing it behind our RV)

3) Is there a lot for visitors (I have heard you can only have one car per site). My mother in law lives in Orlando and wanted to visit for a couple of nights, I already added her name to the reservation list, can she leave her car in a lot if so how long?

4) How is the trails end buffet for breakfast and dinner? Has anyone done the take out, how is it?

5) Can you see the MK fireworks from fort wilderness lake?

You can fax in a request for a certain loop, but there are no gurantees.

For the car, FW allows one car per site. If you are towing one behind your motorhome, you can keep it at your site. Be aware, however, that the FW rules say that you have to unhitch the car from the MH in the parking lot before you head to the site so as not to block the roads in the campground.

Visitors vehicles or extra vehicles must be kept in the parking lot.

We ate dinner there and loved it. Never had breakfast there, but have heard good things about it.

Allow me to chime in re. Trail's End for breakfast. It is MOST EXCELLENT!!!! The breakfast pizza is great. They also have a good selection of baked goods, Mickey waffles, fruit, cereal, various egg dishes, typical breakfast meats, etc. We do breakfast there a minimum of twice while at the campground.

There is an additional parking lot for visitors, I have no idea how long you can park there, but I'm sure central reservations will have an answer or at least find the answer for you.

4) How is the trails end buffet for breakfast and dinner? Has anyone done the take out, how is it? We have eaten there for breakfast and dinner and the food is very good. We did one take out breakfast the morning we checked out last Aug. They gave us a large styrofoam container, a clear salad container and a soup container. You could put whatever you want in any of the containers. I had enough food off one meal to feed 4 of us and there was leftovers. I think we got a drink too. Best deal in all of Disney.

5) Can you see the MK fireworks from fort wilderness lake? You can definately see the electrical water parade and I think that we could see the fireworks. I know that we watched them on the ferry on our way back from MK.

Thank you so much, all of you for your help!!! We just bought our RV and plan on taking a test run to vermont, but I really can't wait to get to Disney!! 107 more days 'till we leave!!!!! If anyone has any more tips I would definately welcome them

You can only drive your car in and out of the campground. You cannot drive it from your campsite to breakfast at Trails End for example.

To get around the campsite internally you can take the busses, or walk or ride bicycles or golf carts.

Shortly after you enter the campground there will be a "pull off" paved section designed to unhook your car from the RV. There is also one on the opposite side for when you leave.

Each vehicle will get a parking pass which goes in the front window. This is what you will show when you drive to another part of the WDW property so you don't have to pay for parking, etc. I think your mother (since she's a registered guest) will get one as well that she will display on her dash while her car is parked in the front lot.

There is a 15 min parking allowed at the Meadow Trading Post, but that is it ... so your own vehicle should only used for arriving and departing from Ft. Wilderness.

We were just down there and ate at the buffet for the first time (dinner) ... it was great!!!

Don't forget about Crockett's Tavern (connected to the buffet) where you can order snacks and pizza, along with drinks!! We love that place and the pizza is large and quite economical. You can get the pizza for take-out as well. Lots of rocking chairs on the porch while you wait.

Where are you camping in Vermont? We live in Vermont and do quite a bit of camping here.

I am glad you asked, may be you can suggest a place. We are going to St. Albans for a funeral of sorts. We want to spend one or two nights there or possibly take one of those nights and spend it elsewhere in VT. This will be our virgin trip with our RV and I expect things will NOT run smoothly, but maybe we can work some kinks out before .
