I feel kind of embarassed that I have to ask this specially since we used DME last year and it was great. The operating hours of 5-1pm is that at the airport or the resort?
If my plane arrives at 11pm do I grab my own luggage?

Thanks everyone

The 5-11 is for the checkin at the resort. As an FYI, you can still use the desk even if you do not use DME It is not part of DME.

Grabbing your luggage or not is really up to you. I would grab the luggage.

They will deliver the luggage whenever it arrives (3-4 AM). You can tell them not to deliver it until some reasonable time in the morning, but sometimes the message does not get passed along to the person delivering the luggage.

DME is a 24/7 operation. As long as you have a reservation, it doesn't matter how late your flight arrives at MCO, or how early it leaves MCO.

With your flight arriving at 11:00 p.m., there are two schools of thought. Ed (above) recommends you get your own luggage so you don't have the possibility of being awakened at 3:00 a.m. My opinion is the opposite -- at 11:00 p.m., all I want to do is get to the resort and get to bed, and I don't want to be delayed by having to hang around baggage claim, which will not only take time in and of itself, but it might also mean that I will have to catch a later DME bus, as well, further compounding my self-imposed delay.

If you go my way, when you arrive at your resort, ask at the front desk AND at Bell Services to have your DME luggage held 'til morning (and as a savvy traveler, your carry-on will be packed with everything you'll need for the first 24 hours, anyway). I've been recommending this for months. Of course, when I got there a few weeks ago, I was just so excited to be there that I completely forgot to make that request, and got awaken by a 1:16 a.m. phone call that my luggage was ready to be delivered if I wanted it. :sad2:

As embarrassed as I am that I forgot to take my own advice, we were just so exhausted that we were both back asleep within about one minute of the phone call, and the kids didn't even stir.

DME is now in the B side of the terminal.

A SW passenger, who wants to get his own luggage, has to walk over to the A side, go down to level one, claim his bags, go back up to level three and go to the opposite corner of the terminal and then go back down to level one. That can easily add an extra 30 minutes probably closer to an hour.

The extra time might have been worth it when DME was in its original location, A side one level above SW baggage claim.
