In general, I don't like thrill rides or big drops, but I am wondering about Jurassic Park River Adventure. Also will ahve an eight year old girl with me who is adventurous, but still she has not been on anything big.

How does the feeling/thrill the compare with Expedition Everest?

It is a completely different feel. Expedition Everest moves quickly continually, not really giving you a chance to catch a breath if you are not fond of coasters. Jurassic Park is really just a boat ride until the drop at the end.

You should be fine, our 8 yr old daughter rode it twice with us last year. She had heart surgery when she was two and we are careful to test attractions before letting her ride. We would not let her on Expedition Everest but she loved Jurasic. Her cardiologist at her checkup weeks prior to park visit said since her repair surgery was a success and she has shown no further complications let her ride anything she wants, however we try to be responsible parents and screen any rides before letting her participate.
Have fun.

There are several videos of the whole ride on YouTube. Some of them are from Universal Hollywood, so if you see a car jump at the riders from the side, that's not the one in Orlando.

IMO Jurassic Park is a whole lot more like Splash Mountain in terms of feel/thrill than Expedition Everest. It's a whole lot noisier right before the drop, though, and sounds more ominous. I'm not a thrill-ride type person but JPRA is my favorite ride in all of Orlando.

Wear a poncho if you don't want to get drenched. And I agree with the other poster that said that River Adventure is a lot more like Splash Mountain than anything. I am not bothered by the drop at the end...although it is quite a drop, I think it would be fine to take your 8 year old on.

Have fun!

Do you get soaked at the bottom, or does it look worse than it is? I like the rides and love Splash (don`t think you get that wet on Splash, either that or I was lucky). I just hate getting soaked, I know it doesn`t take long to dry out ..... would I look a right wally if I kept my poncho on (found them in the loft yesterday!!!)

It depends on where you sit. From my experience, the first row gets the wettest. Also the more towards the middle you sit, the less you get wet too.

We sat in front row and got a little wet (less than 25%).....toward the back doesn't get wet hardly at all. I was actually surprised how wet we didn't get! Compared to Popeye and Dudley, it's not wet.

i'm a rule breaker.

i always duck down right before you hit the bottom of the drop.
barely get wet then.
the people behind you do

Hi

My siblings and I just returned from a visit to US and IA.
We are 4 ranging in age from 45 - 60.
We went on Jurassic Park ride twice. We enjoyed it very much.
The drop is a bit of a shock but it is quick.
We wore ponchos and sat in the middle and got a little wet but not too bad.
