Junior suites @ Wilderness Lodge

Can someone describe these? Are they all on floor one? Advantages/Disadvantages?

We are thinking about the Deluxe Room (Jr. Suite) too since we will have three adults and two children. I'd love to hear more about them. If you stayed in one of these rooms, where was it located and would you do it again?

They are on floors 1-6, either half way down the south wing (courtyard/pool view) or at the ends of the north and south wings (lake view).

The suites are 500 square feet, and here is the floorplan:

Jo, I think there are actually 16 of them. 5 in the north wing, 11 in the south wing.

Cali-D, thanks for the info. I was told they only have 6 of these and that is why they don't discount them.

floridalover- I have been told that these rooms aren't discounted.

Jo, the more I think about it, there may be 26 of them. There are 6 midway down the south wing, then they are on the ends of the wing - I kinda remember reading that they are on both corners, so that would be 10 per wing.

I have seen these suites discounted. However, since there aren't as many as there are regular rooms, not as many discounts will be available. Guess it's one of those things that timing is key.

We stayed in a Junior Suite at WL in December 2000. It was very nice, the area where the two queen beds are is somewhat tight (not much space between beds). Our room was located on the end corner of the 5th floor facing the boat dock and you could look down at the pool from the small bedroom windows. All the JS's are located in the north wing where the boat dock is. I was not able to get a discount on our room and we paid about $350 a night. The room was perfect for us and the maid made towel animals everyday after cleaning the room. The room came with a coffee pot, coffee packs, a small sink with a refrigerator below the sink. There is a pull out sofa in the small living room area and also a nice balcony. We didn't have much of a view, mostly just trees. If you are looking for a quiet location at WL, this would not be the best location. The noise from everyone walking (kids are excited naturally and lots of yelling can be heard) to the boat dock can be loud each morning (about 7:30) and the geiser is very close by. We enjoyed our stay there and were glad we booked the JS for the extra space.

Just wanted to add that I might be wrong about them all being in the north wing, this was what I was told when I asked. Things also may have changed since then or I could have been miss informed. I have a floor plan showing the rooms and it states there are 21 junior suites, one of them being larger with an adjoining bedroom adding 2 queens beds making a total of 4 queen beds.

Robin, could you please explain where the 21 suites are located? 21 would make sense if they don't have any on the first floor (4 at the ends of each wing, and then 5 midway down the south wing).

These are the Junior Suite room numbers at WL: 1000, 1003, 2000, 2003, 3000, 3003, 4000, 4003, 5000, 5003, 2123, 3123, 4123, 5123, 6123, 1169, 2169, 3169, 4166/4169 (this being the adjoining location with the 4 queen beds) and 5169. Are there 5 floors at WL ??? I have no clue where 6123 is located. I have a copy of what looks like a blue print showing the room lay out and numbers of all Junior Suites. I got this years ago from my nephew who worked there. We stayed in room 5000, it was a corner suite in the north wing.

Thanks, Robin. I understand exactly what you are saying. The "000" and "003" rooms are in the north wing. the "123" rooms are midway down the south wing, and the "169" rooms are at the end of the south wing. Not sure what is in the opposite corner (since, appearantly, there is no second junior suite down at the end - it's probably just a regular room).

There are a total of 7 floors at WL. The concierge level is on the 7th floor (this is a small floor, it only goes halfway down the wings). The junior suite on the 6th floor is right below one of the suites (I think the Yellowstone, otherwise it'd be the Yosemite). The junior suites at the ends of the wings only go up to the 5th floor due to the roof slope, there is no 6th floor in that section.

There are actually 25 "Deluxe Rooms" (Junior Suites) They are 1000, 1003, 1166, 1169, 2000, 2003, 2123, 2166, 2169, 3000, 3003, 3123, 3166, 3169, 4000, 4003, 4123, 4166, 4169, 5000, 5003, 5123, 5166, 5169 and 6123

All of these rooms do offer a connecting option that would be a room with 2 queen beds or a room with one king bed that is either woods or courtyard view. Rooms X000 are the rooms in the North wing that are at the very end of the hall on the left corner, Contemporary side they are Lake/tree view, X003 are the 2 doors down on the right corner with a pool/lake/tree view rooms X123 are halfway down the south wing in the left corner overlooking the pool/lake/geyser. Room X166 is the room at the far end of the south wing on the left corner with a lake view and rooms X169 are 2 doors down on the right corner also with a lake view. Rooms 2123, 3123, 1166, 1169, 2166, and 2169 have "doormer balconies, due to the design of the building these rooms have brick on the balcony railing so you can not see out unless you are standing up (if you sit you see brick), just FYI.

Another thing to add, depending on how many people you have, I would also look at the One Bedroom (sleeps 4) and 2 bedroom (sleeps 8) Villas. They do not discount the Deluxe rooms (junior suites) at the Lodge, but they do often discount the Villas., so you might get a better rate for a Villa which in my opinion is nicer than the Deluxe rooms. Just another option to look into

If any of you can catch the WL on the Travel Channel this week, the host stays in a junior suite, so you can see waht it looks like.
