Junior Suite at YC...can someone clear this up for me?

Ok, according to Disney's Website at Disneyworld.com, the Junior Suite:

Suites: maximum 4-8 Guests
Stay in a Junior with 2 queen-size beds and 1 daybed (sleeps 4)

How can it sleep only 4 if there are two queen sized beds PLUS a daybed?

And, what makes the Jr. Suite different than a standard room that ALSO has 2 queen beds and a daybed? Is the Jr. Suite bigger? Does it have a separate sitting area? Where is the daybed located?

I am trying to figure out if we want to get 2 rooms or a jr. suite, because we will most likely have MIL with us and honestly, we don't want to sleep in the same room as her. DH and I cherish our time alone... We will have two toddlers with us, who will sleep in the other bed in our room with us, but I don't want to relegate MIL to a daybed! Although, she is only 4'11", so maybe she wouldn't mind...

The Jr. Suite IS larger than a regular room. There is the area with the 2 queen beds, tv, table & chairs and then a sitting area with the daybed and another armoire/tv. The balcony is off of the sitting area.

The YC Junior Suite is comparable to the Deluxe concierge rooms at the BWI ~~ here is a link to some pictures of that room... They'll give you an idea of the set-up.

Actually, it should be 6 (3 beds @ 2 people per bed). They are 500 square feet and have french doors which separate the living room from the bedroom.

Tammi, I have been curious about this room category, too. It only pops up for booking if I only put in 2 adults (not my 3 kids)......

Is the daybed/sofa bed a sofa sleeper, or just the YC standard daybed? I thought it was just the daybed, that would explain the "5". Like in the BC "deluxe" rooms that have 2 queens and a daybed and sleep 5......I know the BWI deluxes do have a sofa bed and sleep 6.

Well, add me to the list of people that are wondering about a Jr. Suite at YC.

Are these rooms located near the concierge lounge?

Channing, the bedding in the living room is actually a queen sized sofa bed, so not a standard daybed. It's something that opens up and can sleep 2. They're not located on the club level and only recently have they been added to club level status. It's my understanding that you can request one close to the elevator to make it easier getting up to the lounge.

Wait, so that is the floorplan for the YACHT CLUB junior suite? Someone else said it was similar to the Boardwalk deluxe concierge rooms, which just looked like long rooms, and there was no door separating the two areas.

This looks like the Deluxe room layout of the WL and AKL.

Tammi, can you please confirm that this is the correct floorplan? If it is, I am SO booking the YC Junior Suite if I can get my hands on it! I like the layout with a separate area, with doors to close off the bedroom and bathroom, but I don't want to stay at the WL or AKL. I want an Epcot resort, but we NEED that completely separate area.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought you were looking for something that was separated. That's the WL junior suite/deluxe room. The YC deluxe is only a larger room, not two separate sleeping areas. This is the YC deluxe layout so you can compare the two:

Under the YC/BC FAQ section, it does say that the BC has a second type of suite with french doors that separate the living room (with a daybed) from the 2 queen bedroom. It's now classified as a 1 bedroom suite though, no longer a deluxe. I'm guessing it's more money because it's a "suite". Okay, here's the BC suite, available with king bed or 2 queens in the bedroom:

Thanks Tammi! I also just looked under the BC/YC FAQ and found that the YC also has 2 of these "one bedroom suites" available, with the separate living area. 2 is not many.

I actually like the layout of the deluxe room at the BWI, but I have NO desire to stay at the Boardwalk...if I am staying at an Epcot resort, by golly, I'll be swimming in Stormalong Bay!

I would think the limit on # of guests on the YC junior suite is because the room isn't really THAT much bigger than a standard guest room. Just a little deeper, and not even as big as the BWI room that is similar. I booked a YC junior suite for my Mom & Dad this December so they would feel a little special. They're in their mid-70s and have never been to WDW. I figure this is a first/last time and wanted them to see that it is actually NICE. (They don't believe me.)

Forgive me if I am asking a simple question, but I don't know the answer. Is there a site that I can go to that has all of these (room) floorplans in one place?

I'm also struggling with the right configuration for a family of five - DH, myself, DD 7, DD 6 & DD 14. Because of the teenager, we really, really need more space, so she doesn't feel like she is "stuck" with the younger girls. I've already ruled out booking connecting rooms at a Value resort, since I have read plenty of threads on this board that confirm that connecting rooms are not guaranteed. And, to be honest, if I am going to go with a suite, I'm not sure I want to go with All Stars Music.

With your particular situation, I would consider:

Thank you so much for the guidance. I was reading about Wilderness Lodge last night, and I seem to remember a Travel Channel special (years ago) that highlighted that lodge. It is quite beautiful. I haven't looked at Animal Kingdom Lodge, so I'll check that out today. I think that our younger girls - zoo lovers - would really enjoy being at that location. Plus, this time around, Epcot and Animal Kingdom are the "must" parks, since we did not have time to visit them in the fall.
