I just got back from a fast food restuarant that sells Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers for a buck. My mother and I each ordered one and we were both dissapointed. The burger part is now half the size of what it used to be. It is half the thickness and no longer even touches the edges of the bun. We thought we were eating a lettuce, mayo, tomato, bacon sandwhich without hamburger. I am so tired of seeing all my favorite foods shrunken in order to keep the profits high in a company.:sad2: :sad2:

While I'm sure their motives are not this pure, I'm actually glad to see a fast food joint reducing serving sizes rather than super-sizing them.

I'd feel much less guilty about ordering a bacon cheeseburger if I knew it was small. :thumbsup2

DH is a GM at said establishment ;)

I will ask him about it when he gets home... he usually tells me about new items & changes but I don't remember this one....

Update: Just talked to both DH & his Boss a District Manager for the Corporate stores....

No they absolutely did not reduce the patty size of the Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. However, if they overcooked the patty, it will shrink considerably.

The only change they made (other than bringing it back to the value menu) is reducing the # of bacon slices on it...

HTH

You know who makes a big, fat, meaty burger? Hardees! Dh and I can order a single burger and share it, it's that big.

Maybe you only got a bucks worth of meat...
I guess what i'm trying to say is that the sandwich is only a dollar...how big should a sandwich be for only a dollar?

what in the world am i talking about....nevermind me... :rolleyes2

I am assuming you are talking about Wendys????

I used to be a Manager there and the Jr burgers were a two ounce patty which was ordered seperately from the 4 ounce patties. If we ran out of the 2 oz. patties we had to cut the 4 oz patty in half....actually when I first started working for them in 1986 they pattied their own hamburger meat using a huge machine and back then the 4 ounce WAS the only size and they were cut in half for the jids meals(no value menu then). Once the Value menu was added(I think around 1990??) they started getting in fresh pre-pattied burgers and also started getting the 2 ounce patty as well.

Anyway...it is possible they ran out of the 2 ounce patty and had to cut the 4 ounce patty in half AND it is possible the person on grill duty did not press the patties out properly (which would cause them to look smaller) and as the other poster said it could also have been over cooked which would make it shrink more.

I try to avoid fast food but when I have the urge, Jr Bacon Cheeseburgers are my burger of choice. Small but satisfies the urge.

Anything called a 'junior' bacon cheeseburger and that sells for a dollar is bound to be super small.

I was thinking that about the Whopper Jr. the other day! I don't normally do fast food, but I decided that, when I do, to get the smallest sandwich they offer. This was a BK Express type of place and they didn't have a kids' meal or small burger, so I got the Whopper Jr. The burger itself was tiny, like what a regular burger would be, but the bun was a larger bun. :confused3 I didn't mind because the small burger was what I actually wanted, but I know the Whopper Jr. was bigger before.

They are just the right size to me. It's a good way to enjoy "junk" food without getting too much of the bad stuff.
