Jungle Skipper Canteen but hates spicy food

I'm hoping to see the inside of the Jungle Skipper Canteen - I'm a big SEA fan. But one member of our dining party, an adult, loathes spicy food. Can anyone speak to the best non-spicy option for someone who consider bell peppers and black pepper too spicy? Can that person order off the kid's menu (at a higher price) or order a side of plain rice?

Bell pepper??? That has a spice level of zero, lol. Two thoughts. First, the hummus app has spices that add flavor, but not heat. Second, during past visits, they have offered ponju quesu (bad spelling) as an off menu item. If you're not familiar with, its basically bread with cheese in it (its very good). I think either of those would work

Yes, adults can order from the kids menu. They'll get an adult portion at an increased price.

The allergy-friendly kids menus often list plain grilled chicken breast or fish. Scroll down to the bottom of the official Disney menu to see the one for kids and what may be available that would suit.

We’ve gone there and my kids are allergic to peppers so no spices for us (black pepper-peppercorns are fine though). We end up getting a plain chicken breast, white rice and green beans which is fine for us.

I also do not like spicy food at all, but really enjoy the Tastes Like Chicken. I don't find the sauce spicy, but you could ask for it on the side just to be sure. To me it's more sweet than spicy.

The Tastes Like Chicken with sauce on side has zero spice and is delicious.

As long as that person does not order the Skipper Dan’s Dan Dan Noodles, they should be fine. I ordered that recently, the waiter immediately asked if I was OK with spicy foods and I said yes. And it was indeed a bit spicy, which I was fine with.

Bell Peppers and Black Pepper (maybe if a lot) Sorry just had to laugh.
My Mother years ago said she could not eat the half sliced I guess baked with nothing on it Avocado on her plate as it was spicy. Anyway I am sure they can boil up a Chicken breast if they had to:rotfl2:

And your point is? How is this woman’s situation funny? Was this comment meant to be amusing? Maybe your mother found it funny…

OP, I sympathize completely. As someone with serious GI issues, I am very careful about spices. For a long time I avoided Skipper… a place I enjoyed many years ago before spices became an issue. As others suggested, I decided to give it a try and got the fried chicken with sauce on the side. It worked out just fine for me and I really enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant.

Your person seems extremely sensitive, maybe even more than me, so while I would recommend the fried chicken, it’s definitely worth a conversation with your server and checking out the children’s menu.

It really amazes me how people who are so sensitive when someone has allergies or a child with special dietary needs, become so insensitive and judgmental to the “spice” issue. What’s not spicy to you is irrelevant if I find it too spicy for me.

Pão de queijo

Does this person not like hot spices or food with a lot of flavor? We ate there and nothing was hot-spicy but very tasty.
She's fine with flavor - garlic, onions, wine, herbs, sauces - but nothing hot and spicy. She's never tried Indian, so I can't be sure about those kinds of spices but she loved Restaurant Marrakesh.

Indian food is not necessarily hot. The main spices are cumin, coriander, curry, garlic. Tons of flavor. I know people that don’t like some foods because the flavors are too intense but not hot. That’s why i asked. The only spicy hot food I’ve had at WDW were some of the sauces for the Sanaa bread service.

Fair enough, but let's keep in mind that the OP only indicated that her friend dislikes spicy foods, not that her friend has an allergy or a medical issue. Let's not make this subject into something it is not

We went as a party of 6 and I don't recall anyone having anything that was even remotely spicy. We noticed that the in-person menu doesn't always match what's online and things change, so your best bet may be asking your server what they'd recommend based on the menu that day. In general, food at DIsney (especially restaurants inside the parks), tends to be on the more mild side.

Are you talking about flavor or are you talking about spice? Bell Pepper has zero spice. Like literally does not produce capsaicin which is where the "hot" spice comes from.

Cinnamon is spicier than a bell pepper.
