I am thinking of eating here on my way back from universal. Does this place take ressies? thanks,,,corvair

We ate there on May 8 and I am pretty sure that they dont take ressies. We both had burgers - they were really good (although my cheese wasnt melted) and we really liked the fries. When we got there it was pretty early and you could see that at least half the tables were empty. The hostess made us wait 15 minutes. I just dont get why some restaurants do that. While overall it was an enjoyable meal there was just something odd about the place. Maybe it was because they werent very busy and it was quiet? I dont know - cant really put my finger on it. But my husband and I both agreed that it felt strange in there. I sound like a freak - Im not, I swear!

Maybe because you were early, the entire dinner wait staff wasn't on duty yet (or they were short staffed) and didn't want to fill up all the tables if they couldn't serve you. Just a thought. Or, maybe they didn't want to seat all the tables in one person's station at one time. It's tough when you wait tables and all of your tables are seated all at once because they all want to order at the same time, they all want their drinks at the same time, etc. Well, that's my theory. I can't see why they would make you wait for the sake of waiting.

jacrazy...After spending 20 years in the restaurant biz, I'm qualified to tell you you hit the nail right on the head. It is much better to have a guest wait in the lobby 15 min instead of sitting at a table with no one serving them. It amazes me the # of people that INSIST on sitting at a table that no one is working.:D And then they wonder why the service isn't up to par...lol BTW, Jungle Jim's is pretty good, although my buddy's cheese was'nt melted either. Maybe that's a JJ thing.;)

Cheers:)

Yes, I have worked in restaurants too. But I think hostesses should at least explain why people arent being seated. We always did that where I worked.

True enough lecach...We try to explain it to them too, tho sometimes it does no good.;) It is odd they would leave you in a lobby without saying something about why.

Cheers:)

We ate at Jungle Jims on a busy night. Didn't have to wait for a table, but the service was terrible.

I had heard many good things about the restaurant and decided to try it. I heard their burgers were great - they were alright. The general atmosphere is nice, the food was just okay (I had a pasta dish that was very bland and my DD would not eat her kids pizza), but service was really bad. It wasn't just our table either. I noticed other tables complaining and wondering where their server was.

It was a nice place. Neat atmosphere and the food was good. Prices reasonable. Good family restaurant. Everytime we were served a drink there was a little plastic animal figure hanging off of the straw. The kids had a great time collecting all of them everytime we got refills.

We did not care for Jungle Jim's although we seem to be in the minority. Service was bad, our table was sticky, and iit smelled kind of funky.

Just back -- very disappointed with Jungle Jim's. Had eatern there on 3 earlier visits and at that time we were so impressed with service and food. This time food was just o.k. and service was very, very slow. Server had no enthusiasm and no interest from what we observed. I'm not sure what's happened but I would not rush back there next time. You may want to consider Chevy's instead.

I am so glad that people are saying they weren't impressed with Jungle Jims as I also felt like a freak for not liking it after so many people's rave reviews. We were there in October and I wasn't impressed at all. The place wasn't very clean, our server was diabolical - we got the impression he had a party to go to as he certainly couldn't be bothered paying us any attention, our burgers were OK, but only OK and my youngest DS's hot dog was disgusting. It wasn't because they were busy because the place was half empty.

We wouldn't go back. The only good thing I can say about it was the cute plastic animals, buy you can probably get a bag full of those in Walmart for a dollar !!!

I have eaten there a few times and from what I remember no reservations are taken. I could b wrong. I do that that we enjoyed it very much. HTe food was good and it was not to expensive.

Enjoy!

I ate there with my two small children on our last visit. It was dead inside around 1:00. Our server was great. He helped me entertain my children and was very nice. The burgers we had were fine. Nothing great. My sons loved the stupid tiny choking hazard animals. When we walked in the door I thought it actually smelled like a zoo. I would say that with all the things you are doing while on vacation in Orlando, this is not a destination restaurant.
