Yeah, it does seem extensive. They have a whole crew back there and they've been working hard whenever I've passed by there on recent visits (you can *sort* of see a little bit from the Indiana Jones exit). I'm excited for it to re-open.I believe the expected reopening date is May 5th, or right around there. I'm pretty sure it's an extensive rehab, as there was a video on the parks blog of them air lifting an elephant out to be cleaned. But, I haven't heard of any real changes being made to the attraction.

I can't be positive, but I'd heard that it was going to be a bit shorter remodel in the beginning & they extended it out. I've found Touring Plans doesn't always update their dates until something official is released by Disney or a definite reopen date shows on the website. The Disneyland site does show it down on April 4, but touring plans has that as its reopening date. Any idea why? Any chance it reopens on 4/4? (Which also happens to be my last day in the park).
I have also read online that they are reworking the queue a bit by placing barrier gates where guests step off from the loading doc into the boats. They have these on many other rides (BTMRR, Space, etc), and it basically keeps guests from stepping forward onto the ride vehicle until the gates are opened.
I saw someone else (or maybe it was you) post this way of finding dates on another board regarding closures. But then I couldn't figure out how to get to it myself later & was too lazy to go look for the post again. Thank you for saying "pop-up bubble"! The light bulb above my head finally lit up & I was able to figure it out.The little pop-up bubble over the Jungle Cruise on the map indicates that it is closed for refurbishment through May 5, 2016 at this point.

Barrier gates are a stupid and unnecessary element. It will really detract from the jungle cruise. Who are these crazy people making these stupid decisions? They are being idiots for a number of valid reasons. This park is really becoming more and more commercialized beyond common sense and tradition. Blah!
Do attractions coming off refurb at DL ever open early? We'll be there through April 30th and was wondering what the chances are for a soft open.
