Disney pairing Tom Hanks and Tim Allen for 'Jungle Cruise'

Looks like Woody and Buzz Lightyear will be back for another adventure — well, at least their voice actors will. Toy Story stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are planning to step on board Disney’s Jungle Cruise, a live-action movie adaptation of the popular riverboat attraction that first debuted at Disneyland in 1955, according to a studio statement. Disney signed a script deal with Roger S.H. Schulman, who received an Oscar nomination for co-writing Shrek. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, fresh off their Best Picture nomination for The Fighter, are producing the long-gestating film.
Allen is currently preparing to shoot an untitled sitcom pilot for ABC in April, marking his first return to TV since Home Improvement went off the air in 1999. And Hanks directs and stars in the upcoming comedic drama Larry Crowne, due in theaters this July.

This is a long long time in the making. The podcast crew talked about this back in '06. But not the Tim Allen, Tom Hanks part. Pretty cool to hear about this movie though. Hope its good!

Yes, this sounds like it will be a great film. In my opinion, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies really brought the ride to life and I hope this movie will do the same for the Jungle Cruise.

I love the idea of this. I hope though the Jungle Cruise movie would go the way of Pirates and not Haunted Mansion. They blew it big time with the HM movie.

Yea..that was a little odd....I did like it, but it didn't compliment the ride much...

Sounds to me like it's going to be animated though since they mentioned that the actors voices would be re-united

The way I read it was that they were the "voice actors" of the Toy Story Trilogy and would pair up again but now give a real life performance in the new Jungle Cruise movie.

I do not think the new Jungle Cruise movie will be animated.

The Jungle Cruise attraction was originally inspired by a movie. Walt Disney said that the film The African Queen inspired him, at least in part, to make the Jungle Cruise attraction.

I don't know though, about attractions being made into movies. For every decent one, like the Pirates of the Caribbean films, there are too many bad ones, like Haunted Mansion, Country Bears and Tower of Terror.

The movie i'm really looking forward to is "Magic Kingdom". Jon Favreau is lined up to direct it.
