Jungle Cruise & IASW Closures for overlays?

I read in another thread that both Jungle Cruise and IASW close around Halloween for installation of holiday overlays? We're WDW vets and will be visiting Disneyland for our first time this fall. We're planning to visit before Halloween, and would like to see the "original" version of both of these rides. Ideally, we'd like to visit as late in October as possible, due to other scheduling conflicts. As of now, we're planning on visiting the third or fourth week in October. But now I'm concerned that these rides may be closed. Do they "historically" close on or around a certain date to install the holiday overlays?

It's a Small World typically closes for 18-days to have the holiday overlay installed. For the last several years, it's been in mid-October (10/25/10, 10/24/11, 10/22/12, 10/21/13, 10/20/14, and 10/19/15). The Jungle Cruise has only been doing the Jingle Cruise overlay for a few years and the first year was very different from the last two years. It closed in early November in the past (11/03/14 and 11/02/15).

It's hard to say with JC because they've only done it a few times and only twice for the full holiday period and the timing was slighty different each time so far. Last year JC closed for 10 days starting early Nov and opening on the official holiday start date. The timeline on this one was longer than the previous year as it has gotten more elaborate. But there's an extensive refurb happening now, so it could be faster if they actually do other stuff when installing the overlay, we don't know. IASW closed Oct 19th and opened with a lighting ceremony when the holidays soft opened a week early. That timing has been pretty consistent, plan on it closing on the 17th. HM will go down in August and reopen mid-September with its overlay. But, Disney hasn't actually confirmed any details for holidays this year, so we won't know what's getting an overlay until then.

I think that might be a mistake on the year on Touring Plans' part. Allears.net has the Jungle Cruise refurb as ending in April 2016

I hope that one's right then!! We'll be there over the holidays and I would be sad to miss it!

I have heard that the JC refurb is definitely ending in April 2016, luckily! I'm going in late Oct and was a bit worried about these holiday overlays but it seems like they will be happening just after my trip!

I don't believe the Jungle Cruise receives a Halloween overlay, just the Christmas one..

As Angel Ariel said, Jungle Cruise doesn't have a Halloween overlay. Only Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain have had Halloween overlays in the past. Unless it's down for some type of maintenance or refurbishment, it should be open in September.

Thanks you for the feedback. It sounds like we better plan for the third week at the latest, and probably earlier if we can. We've still got a little while to figure out our exact dates. How early have they typically announced the dates? Summer? A few weeks out?

It's going to depend on when HalloweenTime starts this year. The most likely dates seem to be either 9/9 or 9/16. We probably won't know much until mid-summer (end of June/early July) when they announce the MHP dates. In general, DLR doesn't typically announce closure dates until the operating calendars are posted (45-days/6-weeks in advance). Once the dates of the "season" are announced, we can usually make educated guesses about when things will close/open, but until then, it's mostly a big unknown.
