First of all, thank you so much for the expressions of sympathy. Yesterday was very tough and we will miss our furbaby Cricket very much.

I have not really figured out how to answer the price point question except to say that it is irrelevant what my price point is if it doesn't match yours. The best explanation I can come up with is that my price point is determined by more than the cost. I mentally think about questions like: Who will benefit/is it helping anyone? Will it cause problems for others? Can I afford it? What do I give up?

All Disney experiences have direct benefit to others (charities, employees, guest speakers, hotels, etc). Some, such as this one, are on the very slight end of the benefit spectrum; ie, the cost to Disney is minimal in relation to the profit, very little is passed along to employees and nothing is going to charity. I'm not unhappy when a company makes lots of profit, but I dislike it when at the same time they do things like lay off IT workers and replace them with low-paid employees from overseas. That is when it goes from a cost I can rationalize to more of a money grab; there are not many extra costs that would factor into the high price such as in a D23 event or even a hotel stay. In this case, it doesn't seem that it will cause any problems for others so that's fine. Affording it, for me, ties into the next question: what do I give up? In this case, I don't feel this event is really benefiting anyone who needs it. Can I balance that with spending elsewhere that will give something back? I have to admit that recent events have made me more aware of my place as a human being and my obligation to our planet. I can't justify an expenditure that is only for me and for corporate Disney if I am unwilling/unable to match it elsewhere. I can't ignore desperate families drowning while I eat breakfast with plastic zebras. I'm not saying that to denegrate anyone else, just to explain that my means do not always allow for me to do both.

I would also add that something can be a money grab and still be considered worthwhile by someone. I get the idea of 'what the market will bear' and 'supply and demand' but those situations do tend to lead to money grabbing. I'm sure many parents besides me have considered paying a huge price above retail for something their child desperately wanted for Christmas but could only be obtained on ebay etc. It may be worthwile to you but it's still a money grab.

Whewwwww, that is a lot of dole whips I imagine if I were a person who had a Club 33 membership and could afford those meals on a regular basis, it wouldn't seem so high. That is a real once in a lifetime type deal right there...

I made a joke about the jungle cruise price/time immediately, but in all honestly, if I had a spare $600 bucks sitting, I would sign me and my dd4 up in a heartbeat. I looked to see if they had ressies the day we are in the parks and they do...I was like walk away friend, walk awayyyyy.

I don't have time to give you a good reply at this time about my "price point," but I'll be back to answer that later. Our beloved dog has a heart tumor and the girls and I are taking her to be put to sleep. There are several such things going on right now which are no doubt affecting my mood and viewpoint.

I will be in San Diego in two weeks for business from Wed night till Friday afternoon. I'm planning on swinging up Thursday morning and doing this. Yay... Sadly I'll have to head back to San Diego afterwards, but it's going to be a fun time regardless.

Aw bummer... It would have been great to see you guys. You can sure bet that I'll have a TR on it. Going to take lots of pics. Maybe even take the video camera and ask someone to video me as a skipper... we'll see. Not sure what they will allow or not.

Has anyone done it yet?

I ran into a couple yesterday at the Grand who were dressed jungle themed, so I thought I would ask if they had done the breakfast since I knew there was one. They said that they had and that it was an amazing experience and worth every penny. They ate at the part of the ride where the guides are up the pole with the rhinos. We didn't really go into more than that, so I thought I would ask here since I knew a couple people planned on going.

Did the cruise this morning and it was worth every penny! Rather than reveal details, trust that Disney continues to demonstrate their expertise in creating memorable experiences.

We're signed up for a November date. I was like, "cool!" then figured my partner would be NO WAY at a) price, b) hour of day and c) eggs (hates them). So I ventured to ask, and to my shock my phone blew up with "You get to drive the boat??!! go go go!!!" So that was that.

Our values are not screwed up for spending this much money (as some complainers have suggested). I mean please, $300 is what, 75 venti chai lattes... how many do you buy in 2-3 months? How much does someone spend on video games, or ??? Discretionary income is just that, discretionary. It is one of our favorite rides for both of us from childhood. This is a once in a lifetime experience -- who knows if they'll repeat it. We learned that long ago at Disneyland.

Walt Disney shakes your hand with one hand and your wallet with the other. We recognize that and live with it. But we also wonder truly how families of more than two can manage it, and applaud them!

I'm curious as to what this experience is like. I will never pay $300 dollars for such an experience as to me it is price-gouging; however, for those who feel it's worth it for them, more power to them.
