Jungle Book/Rivers of Light Dining Package Lookout thread for Dates After Sept 5th

We just returned and enjoyed AK at night...less HEAT for August. I realize JB is no more soon, but we enjoyed the night safari...saw 3 lions that we would have never seen in the heat of August which was fun. Other critters as well. My family did Everest at dusk which they said was very neat...I couldn't...shoulder surgery and I didn't dare risk it. The Tree of Life was my favorite. We entered around 2-3 pm and enjoyed the later day. It was a very relaxing afternoon/evening. They also did PW and then we all did Bug's Life. DD took DH on Kali..he was not happy...they were soaked! I realize though for a day ticket, it's not worth it to go there like that, but we have APs from last fall and it was a last minute trip that we went in August. Really not worth it if it's only open until 9pm and it's burning a ticket. We did the pool and then went to AK and they did Tusker House for dinner which they said was very good. I have extensive food allergies so I just did a FP for JB which was fine for viewing. We couldn't sit together, but I was okay with that. We did the safari after JB with a 9:30 FP time. We enjoyed the JB show as well.

Still waiting for ROL for maybe September, but other trips planned in the future.

Star Wars show/fireworks are AMAZING. I realize that's the wrong thread for this, but I think I remember seeing others moving from AK to DHS.

The crowds were low, but we've only gone during Christmas and NYE for the last 5 years so that's what I have to compare crowds to...anything is low compared to that!!

Our AK Closing has changed from 7:30 to 9:00 which makes a huge difference!!

JB is definitely over as of Sept 6 and no announcement yet of RoL that I have seen but at least now we will be able to enjoy the Tree of Zlife Awakenjng that I've heard great things about!

Every month since April, they have extended the hours only half way through the previous month. So, for October, we would not see any hours extended until mid-September, If by September 20th, we don't see any October hours extended, then, yes, that would mean they are not extended.

Our trip is planned for the end of September/beginning of October and they just updated the September hours on Saturday, August 13th so it looks like they are updating mid month for the next month out. Sure not easy to plan like that

looks like they are going month by month but it is good news that they extended hours when the JB show is done. not sure if that means they are thinking they might run RoL or not tying it to a show at all.

Oct hours 7 and Nov hours 6 are correct. Who knows ...

thanks for the update. there mid November so can't make FP+ for ~ 4 more weeks. still thinking to spend the whole day at AK but looks like closing at 6PM and for now planning accordingly.

we have a 10:30AM ADR for TH that we are going to keep no matter what; looking forward to it.

They are just reiterating what information is already available. It is unlikely that the hours will remain so abbreviated during thanksgiving weekend and christmas. I think Disney just hasn't gotten to it yet... they have been very slow to update their hours for all of the parks, not just AK. The only "new" information is him saying that "surely" RoL will be open for the holidays... but he isn't saying "sources say" or anything. I think it's pure conjecture based on information as we already know it and his guess is as good as ours... maybe worse if he doesn't realize that AK was only supposed to be open til 7 in september until they recently extended hours and they may do the same thing for october and november as well. I mean, if he had written this article last week he would have reported it as a sharp decline in hours as they cut off all nighttime activities at the neck... and now AK is open til 9 again. I don't think we can take this as gospel about disney's intentions IMO. I'm not sure Disney knows, I think they are being very cautious and seeing month to month based on how attendance goes.

wasn't that quite some time ago? it feels like it (i am going in december) that quietly (and before they published the TA pdf calendar) that they extended to 6pm but it still lists MSEP so it hasn't been updated for a while.

Of course none of this is gospel and no one said it was. It's just sharing of information, which is what we do here.

I'm refuting what the author wrote, not saying that you shouldn't have shared it at all. I just think that with how disney has been updating times in the middle of the month before I don't think he can look at the closing times set for October, November and December and call them gospel yet. I mean look at what is going on at HS with the fireworks. Same thing. That show is being shown (as opposed to RoL) and wildly popular and the dessert party sells out in a couple of days, and they still haven't updated past September. It seems like Epcot is locked in with Illuminations at the end of the night and never varies but I would not be surprised if now that MSEP is gone MK cuts back some of its non party night hours. I am taking nothing for granted.

I just think we all here know more than this guy does But still interesting to see what people are saying. I'd love to know where he got his info about RoL opening for the holidays from.
