Jungle Book/Rivers of Light Dining Package Lookout thread for Dates After Sept 5th

I was wondering since they are not updating Dining packages past Sept. 5, do you think they hope to have the ROL fixed by then? I'm so hoping for ROL!

I saw somewhere that the hummingbird was at a certain, etc. I'll try to find it. I know I saw it somewhere.

Every 20 minutes with the first show at 8:40...but that's in the summer since hours for Sept are not that late.

Haven't heard a thing. It is so hard to plan for mid-September not knowing. I wish they'd just announce something past the 5th, even if it's bad news.

On the last WDW Today podcast LenTesta from touring plans said his inside guy said September might even be pushing it.

i check everyday and see nothing. not even for the jungle book show after sept 5, why wouldnt they extend that for us?

Don't know if this makes a difference but reservations for Tiffins and Tusker House is until 6pm now in December until January I think. Hopefully they extend it even more than that...

We have no idea where things are at with Rivers of Light so I'm guessing that may be part of why no dates have been announced past Sept 5th. I'm hoping no dates means they hope to be close(r) to opening Rivers if Light but don't want to announce anything until they are fully sure it can open.

Something else is that currently park hours are much shorter after Sept 5th so possibly during the time if lower crowds they may not run any nighttime water show at AK?

This is purely speculation on my part as nobody really knows but just thoughts going round in my head as we plan for our mid-September trip,

I don't think RoL happens in September. Here's why:

Nary an Equity audition for dancers that follows similar requirements to the first round has been posted. The RoL issues were the boats, not the dancers (or their heights).

You'd need to have been auditioning 2 weeks ago to have dancers in place for 9/15.

That is a good, but upsetting point. But what if they are able to use the Shamen characters already recruited? As far as we know there are a lot fewer humans in Rivers of Light compared to Alive with Magic anyway

You understand this portion so much more than I do. Is there a possibility that the dancers they are currently using for Jungle Book are the ones originally hired for RoL? Was there separate auditions for JB dancers? It seemed they were preparing for RoL but then JB was quickly put together.

We'll be at AK on Sept 17th and at this point are not planning to go to any nighttime river show given short amount of time between sunset and park closing. Hoping they will run parts if the Tree of Life shows but not sure what to expect as anticipated sunset and current park closing time is less than 30 mins apart.

Equity contracts are typically ~6 months. They had some June auditions for Jungle Book dancers, and the audition stated that the performance was "through Labor Day."

The JB auditions didn't have the same sort of requirements.

So it really depends on if they were hiring the same "types" of dancers, and what they think their re-sign rate would be if the idea is they would keep the dancers currently contracted into September. If those dancers don't have some sort of promise of extension, they're absolutely all looking for the next gig in their free time!

Following - hoping for ROL to be open by Christmas time....

Thanks @_auroraborealis_. I have a thread up asking for reviews of JB for people who have seen it and one of the common answers is that people are saying is that many of the singers and dancers do not match the ethnicity of the movie that is filmed in India. This was one thing that made me wonder if it was some of the Ro L cast that had been switched over to JB.

Will wait with everyone else to see what happens after Sept 5th.

To give you some idea, Club Villain is coming back September 2-Octpber 29. They've been auditioning face characters and dancers for it since the end of June, with another audition upcoming for female dancers. So that gives you a fair idea of the kind of lead time they want to contract and rehearse for something; I don't think the CV choreography is as involved as RoL was supposed to be (because: no boats; boats make everything harder!).

I don't even care if they don't have a nighttime show. Would I love to see JB or RoL? Of course but I really just want to see the Tree of Life all lit up with the little projection shows, ride EE at night and really just experience the park at night. I'm happy that they extended it until 8p for my AK day on 9/7 but I want even later hours! Lol. Hopefully we hear something soon.

What Disney really wants is to get ROL going. JB was just to appease crowds that planned their trips based on ROL opening. The reviews are not good, and Disney probably has reasons to think hard about whether to extend it or not. Is it drawing crowds into AK that otherwise would not be there? Is it returning the investment of the dancers/singers? And the biggest question for me is, assuming that they are able to fix the alleged 3 problems with ROL, can they even start retesting ROL onsite if they are running JB? My guess is they can't, so even if they think they have the 3 problems fixed (and they had allegedly fixed 1), they may need to wait until JB ends to re-start the testing process onsite.

Good info. If they really believe they can get ROL working this Fall, we would be seeing "signs" (such as auditions) or some form of leak. We haven't heard anything, so that's not encouraging.

I'm really hoping for any info/sign from ROL and my guess is that JB will not continue past Labor Day (and I don't think we'll be missing much). I am still planning on an evening at AK. Looking forward to the sunset safari, the tree, and hopefully the parti too. We usually stop and watch the performers at AK. It's one of our favorite things, so that should be even better in the evening.
