June vs. August

Hello everyone!! For the last 4 years, we have taken a mid-late August trip. Yes it's hot, humid, and somewhat crowded - but for the most part it's been ok. Lots of storms, a hurricane here and there, many days of being kept out of the pool bc of lightning.

We went this past August 16-27th and it was the hottest by far. There were days we got to a park, walked in, and then turned around and went home.

We were considering going the end of June this year. Maybe see if it's different, if the weather is any better. But I'm thinking it will probably be about the same. And I'm thinking much more crowded bc then everyone is out of school. My parents have APs that run out in early August, so I was also trying to work around that.

Any feelings on June vs. August? I work summer school, so it's either the end of one or the end of the other. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Oh PS, I've been pretty lucky with getting BCV studio at 7 months for the end of August. How is it in June? Thanks!!

I would expect that it would be harder to book BCV in June vs. late August. In June, kids are out of school all over the US. In late August, most kids are back in school. (we live in NJ, and also used to go in late August, since our kids do not return to school until after Labor Day-- but most kids are back in by then).

It might rain a little less in June.

It would be more crowded in June vs. late August. I would only switch to June to try and get in during Star Wars weekends (SO much fun). But that might be over by late June.

Beginning just before mid-June is when huge summer crowds set in, beginning just after mid-Aug is when they disappear. As to temp difference, if you believe having an average high of 93 degrees daily (late June) as opposed to 94 (late Aug) is better, then it is "cooler." Rain patterns, with risk of a few daily thunderstorms, for those times are similar except you seldom get a hurricane in June but there is somewhat of a higher risk in latter part of June of getting a weather pattern that just sits over Orlando for days dumping rain 12 to 14 hours a day.

Getting a BCV anything can be difficult many times of year 7 months out because the resort is one of the smaller ones (along with VWL) and "late" June can be particularly difficult as you approach very high demand time near July 4.

Thank you for your responses! It doesn't really sound like a good idea to go in June. :confused3 I really have to decide what to do. The main issue is the expiration of my mom and dad's APs. But it really doesn't sound very appealing to go in June. Last year I went 7/1-7/9 and it wasn't too bad - except for the tours. And I lucked out with the weather. Doubt that would happen 2x in a row! :wizard: Thanks again... decisions, decisions....

Never again will I go in August. I was there this year and collapsed from dehydration and the heat. I did get a fast-pass to the Celebration Hospital. (I'm ok now).

This past June was our first...and probably last...summer trip! Don't get me wrong, being at WDW in the blistering heat and crowds is still better than being home!! That ebing said, we had 110 degree heat indeces for about 4-5 days in a row. Even the kids were feeling the heat. The pool water was so waqrm that it was not refreshing; actually enjoyed afternoon storms that forced us to stay in the AC.

The crowds were the biggest we had ever experienced, and I guess we are a bit spoiled as we usually go in low attendance times!!!

Not willing to try August, and I am really looking forward to the temps this next week.

This past 4th of July period was not bad at WDW at all! We all were pleasantly surprised. If you wanted to try the end of June, I would. Call for reservations exactly at 7 months and you may:wizard: very well get BCV! I moved a reservation from BWV to BCV this past year, from July 1 to 5.
