June Vacation Officially Booked- Ride Question!

We are so so excited! Omgosh! We went 4 years ago, when my son was an infant, but we now will have a 9 year old and my son will be celebrating his 4th birthday at Disneyland!

We are staying at Desert Inn and Suites. I didn't feel like any of the hotels had good "Deals" on our dates, so I chose the most affordable within walking distance. I have read SO many hotel reviews, any info on DIS breakfasts?

RIDE Question-- HOW strict are they on height?! Do they measure down to the wire? Does spiky hair count? LOL-- Our almost 4 year old is big enough for everything (that he would be willing to ride) except Indiana Jones, which is my fave, any chance they won't notice 2 inches???

No, they are quite strict and IMHO, the measuring stick can seem an inch higher than accurate! I'd ask for child swap so you can still ride it (i.e., you take turns riding Indy while someone stays with your 4 year old, as the child swap pass functions like a FP and lets the second parent skip the standby line).

How much does he like being tall enough? Their head has to touch the bar I don't think just the hair would count! But if you go first thing in the morning one day and teach him to stand real tall (if he is close to being tall enough) he might make it, you are taller in the mornings than the evening We were going to go in June and had an AWESOME rate at the new Homewood but now we had to change to 4th of july week which I am bummed about because hotel prices went up dramatically

The height requirements are set for a reason - Safety.
Use Rider Swap if you have to ride IJA.

The new Homewood Suites Convention Center is literally a BRAND NEW hotel, with interior corridors, free breakfast, movie nights at the pool, and located next to the Toy Story parking lot. So, no, it's definitely not closer than DIS, but it's probably nicer since it's a brand new hotel. I've never stayed at either place but I've heard good things about both. I was seriously considering Homewood, but chose Hojo's instead. Walking distance wins out every time for us.

Good luck, and let's hope the little guy has a growth spurt within the next few months!!

It's def not closer but it is right next to Toy Story for a free ride lol they have free breakfast and a free evening light dinner and drinks during the week, there is a little putting green and basketball court also

Well, I priced it out, and its about $570 more for the week.. So we will stick to DIS.. even with older beds and not a kitchen.. I thought maybe the kitchen could offset some of the meal prices, but not $570 worth.. LOL!

I wonder if you could walk him through the line when you do rider swap?? It's a pretty cool line and pre-show experience and maybe it would be good enough til your next trip! But I don't know if they let you in at all if you don't meet the height requirement.

Once he fails to measure up they won't let him go any further. If he somehow got past the first 2 checks outside, wouldn't it be worse to get to the platform and get turned away? It's a safety issue, just wait it out, he'll be tall enough eventually.

Our first time taking my youngest daughter, she was measured by the first two stops at Splash and they said she could ride. The attendant that measured her right before getting in the log said she didn't reach and wouldn't let her ride. He probably saved her a few years of trauma. She hates that ride!

If your son doesn't have a growth spurt between now and then, I wouldn't push it. Do the rider swap. That way, the 9 year old gets to go on it twice.

My DD was two months shy of 6 when we went last year and she was less than an inch too short and they turned her away from that ride.

I'm 5' and it's really just not comfortable for me to ride. I get thrown all over. I'd imagine being shorter it is worse!

Your little boy is so tall! My son didn't even get to 40" until 4.5 and now at almost 5.5, he's finally 42"! 44" at 3, wow!
We're shorties, though. I'm only 4'10".
Have so much fun celebrating his birthday at Disneyland!

they are strict.
they will measure twice.
spiky hair does not count as height obviously.
2 inches is extremely noticeable.
had you said 1/4 of an inch i would have said theirs a small chance.

keep in mind though that they measure with shoes on.
shoes wouldn't add 2 full inches though.

He IS big, he wears size 5 clothes and has giant feet... I'm not tall and his dad is average, so i have to assume he will level out at some point.. LOL!

I laughed so hard at this, i suposssssssse you are correct, a fall into the fiery depths may REALLY be a hindrance to the rest of our trip!
