June UY what are you doing???

Yes really good news! Although I do feel sorry for those who converted points to RCI.
those people can get their points back

What if I deposited Points into RCI® so that they would not expire?
Members with a June Use Year who have made deposits into the RCI system since March 12 will be able to reverse that action and withdraw their Points. Members with previously booked RCI reservations that have been cancelled during the closures can continue to use those Points within the RCI system until they expire.

Again, they could be negotiating with RCI on this with contigency plans in place. Of COURSE it would be complicated, but it is still something that could be done.

I guess I ended up being fairly accurate on this guess. They clearly were negotiating with RCI during that time... :-)

I think we understand that it would have been nice to know, but given that we have no idea how long this will play out, they have been clear that until it’s over, they can’t make any decisions.

And I guess, in the end, they WERE able to make some decisions before it was all over. We're still right in the thick on things and they were able to make a decision...

The message has been pretty clear. Nothing will be decided or implied until it is over

And I guess that message wasn't quite as clear as some assumed. Things were decided well before it was "over."

In any case, I'm glad that we finally heard something -- and that they took care of people that went with RCI when it was really the only option. It really worked out where it didn't matter how you "bet" in this situation. And I'm actually pretty darn surprised by it, actually.

(And I don't mean my quotes above as a personal attack, Sandisw! Please don't take it that way. I'm just saying that it wasn't quite as "clear" as some thought that they weren't going to say anything until things were reopened or it all of this was "over" -- it happened well ahead of that, it appears. That's all I was asking/hoping for before.)

Actually, I think the decisions that were made were a clear indication that they do know when it is coming to an end. Just because they didn’t announce it doesn’t mean internally they werent given an opening date. Remember, Disney execs have been in talks with Governor task force who said they are way ahead of the curve in terms of planning for opening resorts and parks.

For one, they are only extending banked points for 6 months from expiration, NOT resort opening and did not include Aug UY in that change,..it implies they expect to be open in order for those points to be used, April UY is really getting at most 4 months.

Two, they still are sticking to the rule that owners should follow normal banking rules and that the only late banking beyond will be for those that have reservations canceled for closure, Still clear that Sept UY and beyond are on notice,

So, I definitely think this coming out today bodes well of a June 1st opening for resorts, and they know that. .

Yeah, it’s coming across as snarky, but I appreciate your clarifying
It isn’t meant to be!

You're absolutely right, Sandi. They had to know an opening date so they could truly know what the end-impact would be before they released the solution they released. Had this gone on much longer, what they did likely wouldn't have worked.
