Going to WDW in June (12th-21st), traveling with 4 children (11, 9, 7 and 2) it has been a good 4 years since we have been there and we've always gone in late October, but won't be able to do trips in fall anymore...please tell me what exactly how bad the crowds/line waits are going to be.
Tell me how much rain I should expect.
Tell me how terrible the heat is going to be.

Any tips in surviving a June trip to Disney in regards to crowds, line waits, weather and heat?

We can only go in the summer and prefer June to July and August. The heat doesn't seem to be AS intense. Alternate indoor and outdoor attractions/rides/stores and you'll be fine.

We did notice that it rained a little more often, but nothing bad enough to chase us out of the parks. We've found that umbrellas are much more comfortable to use than are the ponchos. Or use both together.

We haven't been with the new FP+, so can't attest to what the crowds WILL be at that time, but with good planning, we never were in lines longer than 10-20 minutes.

We really enjoy June!

Thank you so much Meliss! You made me feel so much better. Umbrellas...good to know! I am also glad to hear that the line times for you were not as bad as I was thinking...I was thinking like 60+ minutes.

If you are staying on site then arrive at rope drop and go back and relax at your resort mid day and once the breaks return

For some reason this embarrasses my family, but in the summer I like to use an umbrella at WDW for shade. It's like carrying my own little shady spot around with me all day. I find that it helps with the heat and keeps me from getting a sunburn. :beach:

Were you using the legacy FP? Yes I can see never standing in line more than 10-20 min if you do rope drop for the first couple hours of the day. After that even Small world can have a wait of 15+ min.

Realistically, I think 60+ min is going to be what you find after the first couple hours of the day for a lot of the rides, and that was with the legacy FP. With the FP+, my GUESS would be that the lines would be longer because those who really used the FP- to the full extent were not in the standby lines are now they will be.
That being said, we've gone in June, the first week or two, and even then it was busy and HOT. I think it's good advice as pp said to plan to go in the morning, then back to the hotel for pool time, naps, whatever, and return to the park in the evening. It's just toooooo HOT. If you go there with the right expectations you should have a good time!

1. If you are staying onsite, utilize morning EMH when it will be relatively cool and uncrowded. (it'll still be HOT in the mornings...we were sweating at the bus stops at 7 AM!)

2. Leave the parks by 1 PM for the hotel/pool time, and head back around 4 or 5 PM.

3. Drink lots of water (get free ice water each time you pass a counter service location!)

4. Bring ponchos and umbrellas - everyone prefers something different. If you do ponchos, I'd bring 2 disposable ones per person since you may not want to wear them more than once. They are less than $1 at CVS, Target, etc.

5. Expect it to rain/thunderstorm every afternoon, and be pleasantly surprised if it does not.

6. Make a few ADRs. You will want the break from the heat and the fried foods.

7. If you want to do the Jedi Training Academy, try to get into one of the early shows. This means arriving at DHS about an hour before it opens and booking it to the sign ups. We could only get into a 1:00 show (we were there during SWW), and it was the most uncomfortable I felt during the entire trip. There is literally NO shade!

We had a great time on our first June vacation last year! Enjoy :)

If you are on the dining plan at some QS places you can substitute a bottled water for a dessert. Not sure which ones or if it is still done but it can't hurt to ask.

Go early in the morning, rope drop if you can
GET OUT by 1:00 at the latest and go swim at your resort. We often opted for a CS meal at our food court.
Make dinner plans around 6, enjoy the resort and the pool
Shower and head to dinner
Go back to the park or hop to another for rest of evening

Get a refillable water bottle for each person in your family, or at the very least a couple to share. Drink a lot of water. Drink more.

Thank you everyone. We are staying onsite...but are not morning people...guess we will have to be on this vacation! I was thinking of shipping water down...heard a tip somewhere to order cases of water online at staples and with a 25.00 purchase, they ship for free!

Bring waterproof shoes like Teva sandals or crocs. It rained a lot when we were there June 2012-and the rain wasn't just in the afternoon.
We used ponchos, but a few umbrellas are also good for rain or for blocking the sun while waiting for a parade.
