I am already thinking about our next trip to the World. We were originally planning to go in August. However, we are remodeling our kitchen and apparently all of the materials being used are made of 24 kt gold, because it is costing us a fortune.

So now our trip will be happening in Summer, 2006.

We could go anytime during the Summer and we will be going for 2 weeks, staying on site. I am torn between early June and late August. Here are the pros and cons I see:

Early June Pros

it's 2 months sooner
the weather is more mild and less rain
June is a pretty month in terms of foliage
longer park hours and more parades/shows

Early June Cons

crowds, been there in June and it was busy (though that was pre-FP)
cost is higher for on-site resorts

Late August Pros

Lighter crowds
cheaper resort rates
capture Labor Day for a rest day when we return

Late August Cons

weather - hotter, more rain, chance or hurricanes
shorter hours and less shows

Am I missing anything? I am leaning toward late August because of the June crowds, though I haven't been there in June in many years. August's weather has me really concerned. I am ok with the heat; it's the storms that scare me. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Late August puts you firmly within hurricane season. It was a BIG issue last year!

We have been to WDW during both periods. I'm not sure if there is much of a difference in terms of heat, crowds, and park hours. They are both slightly better than peak summer.

I would probably give a slight advantage, therefore, to June.

We love visiting WDW in late August, and have done do for the last four years. The best part is that there are no crowds! All of the kids in the South and Mid West are back to school, and it is a wonderful time to visit WDW. I love the weather....Balmy and beautiful, warm enough to swim at night. As far as the rain, Florida rain just seems to come and go in August. Not like here in NY where if it rains, the weather is crummy for the entire day. We have not experienced any severe weather, either.

June will be just as hot, or almost, and much, much more crowded. If you can stand to wait the extra two months, you will be rewarded with wonderful conditions and value season rates at WDW!
