My dh just found out that he is probably going to a two week conference the first two weeks of June. We had planned to head to WDW on June 2nd after my school year was done with dd (3) and dd (1). I am going to Disney next summer- no way are we not going. The question is do we wait and go around June 13 when more schools are out... or go like the middle of Aug say the 14th or so. The only added bonus to Aug is we could go for my dd 4th birthday (Aug 20th). Any advice from people who have gone both times... in comparision. We went early June two years ago and had a hot but great trip. Not too crowded. Is Aug a lot hotter, rainy..... I need help. I already have room at POFQ for June 2ish.

I haven't been to WDW during that time in June. But have gone during that time in August. I would say go in June if your DH would be up to it after his conference. It is very hot in August and was quite crowded when we were there last year. Not to mention you may be there when those pesky love bugs are there (they were in full force the beginning of September this year).

We used to go the end of August every year when dd was still in school. We have gone in Oct, Nov, Dec and Jan, but August is still my favorite. Yes, it's hot, but not any hotter than it was when we were there this past October. Being from WNY, we enjoyed the heat. We would enjoy the parks in the morning, go back to our resort to enjoy the pool in the afternoon and then head back to a park for the evening. Packing is easy, unlike going in Jan - no need for sweatshirts, etc. The southern schools are back in session so the crowd sized aren't too bad. The year's we went in August, we were never bothered by the love bugs. To the best of my knowledge they don't bite. They are far less annoying than snow flurries!!!! So if you decide to go in August, I have no doubt that you will enjoy.

I think the Ultimate Guide has you days in June as 8s and 9s, and your days in August as 7s. Not a lot of difference, but every little bit helps. Having been in June, July and early August before (we are teachers), I never noticed any difference in temp. It was stinkin' hot each month. I thought it rained more in June. Also have Gay Days the first weekend of June. Won't go again during that time. I think I would pick August.

The other thing is that the last 2 years they have offered free dining from August 15 (?) to the end of September for guests staying onsite. I am assuming they did that because lots of schools start before those dates and they are trying to pull in more crowds.

So if you go mid August, you could have free dining OR less crowds because of school in session.....

We have gone almost every week in JUne and the crowds do pick up later close to July4th but it doesn't bother us one bit.

It does seem like Aug. has some better discounts but is just as crowded as people are trying to get that trip in before school starts.

Heat is heat and the temps at that point will be about the same .We like the rain in June to cool us off.

Our usual time to go is the first 12 or so days in June, but this year we went August 8 - 18. Crowds seemed about the same and maybe a touch hotter, but then if you're going in the summer it's hot all the time. We did notice a huge difference in the rain. In June it rans pretty much everyday, but we only had about 45 minutes TOTAL rain in August. Maybe it was luck, but I would definately go back in August again... :thumbsup2

We found Aug to be less humid than June and the nights not as hot. Also, if you go after the second week in Aug., many of the schools across the US are back in session so it is less crowded . We're from NY so we don't go back until beginning of Sept.

Aww heck...it's Disney...go both times and report back to us! :teeth:
I am only working half day( I am job sharing) so a two trip to WDW is not in the budget! Thanks everyone for help... any one remember exact free dining dates for this past year... and how about hurricanes
