We are planning a 2012 trip. We have been in Sept and Nov. In terms of heat and crowds which would you recommend June 15-23 or Aug 17-25? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

June kids are just getting out of school here by Aug they should be returning on the dates you said.. will be super hot and in hurricane season so get insurance if your not local. its been around 103 for weeks now and I am native and its toasty for me! I like going end of oct because the park is decorated. jan has been far the best much cooler no rain and no crouds to deal with . Both dates will be super crouded and some are just going on vacations getting out of school , other cramming in a last min vacation before school starts ekkks

I found early June to be less crowded than early August, but it wasn't unbearable. It's hot, but I live in the south, so I expect that. The later you go in June, the larger the crowds start getting, but your dates will not be nearly as awful as say, going in July. Southern schools start going back in mid-August so that helps with that month - our schools start on August 15 this year. Not sure if I just added more confusion to your question!

Late August is when my family usually goes. We find the crowds very tolerable. It IS very hot...but it's Florida in August so that is to be expected. I actually find June MUCH hotter than August. It may have been b/c there wasn't a single drop of rain the entire week and we usually have rain at some point during all of our August trips. Maybe that makes a difference?

anyhow...August gets my vote!!!:thumbsup2

I honestly wouldn't recommend either because it's super hot both months (they generally are the hottest months here, August being a little more humid because it rains more) It rains a lot in August (My bd is the 15th and it rains EVERY YEAR on my birthday...that I can remember since I was five.)June & July has Brazilian tour groups which are notorious for causing distruptions. August is less crowded because school has started back up in the south, but it's so hot and rainy, I just don't see why you would go then? Why not go early in the year like early May, after spring-break, and before memorial day and summer? Or go in Novemeber when it will be cooler, hurricane season is over and holiday crowds haven't come in? I would never ever go june, july or august and I live here...

I see you have a 5 year old which is probably why you want to go over the summer months to keep from pulling them out of school. We're going August 6-13 this year (16 days left!) so I'll be able to tell you about heat and crowds when we get back. I hope others can give some helpful information before then though.
Whenever you go, I hope you have a magical time! :thumbsup2

southern school systems are back in school in late August so the crowds will be smaller. You don't have to look any further than the room rates. Moderate and Value resorts prices drop August 5th and Deluxe August 18th. The weather will be hotter but the parks are still open fairly late so you can take midday breaks.

Thanks hope you have a magical time. looking forward to your insight when you come back.

Right dont want to pull DS out of school. Looking forward to your insight have a great treip.

It DOES rain mostly every day in August, but seriously it just isn't that bad. They tend to be short showers that don't last long. Of course there is an exception to every rule, but I've been to DW in late August every year since 2006 with one exception for June. YES it is HOT! But the crowds are not bad and really it's all quite manageable. The evenings are generally pleasant and if it's raining, put on your ponchos and away you go! My step son is 10, he was 5 when we started going to Disney World annually. He has always enjoyed the trips and never had a problem with the heat or humidity.

You'll have a great time! There are a lot of us folks who can only come to Disney during the summer months. Sometimes I wish we could go during cooler times, but honestly the crowds and insanity of cooler months make August just fine for me!!!:thumbsup2

Hi!
We just got back Sunday early morning. The heat varied...overall it wasn't that bad. The humidity was high though. We were all a little dewy just walking to the tram! But it wasn't unbearable and it didn't ruin our good time. We had showers everyday which helped to clear out the crowds for a while while people hid! :rotfl: The only bad thing about that was that if you wanted to look through a gift shop, people were camped out in there in front of everything and it was next to impossible to get them to move at all. :confused3

Magic Kingdom seemed to be the most crowded and we went there on a Monday and a Thursday. All the other parks were quite managable. No problems.

Hope that helps some...

Hey - we are going after HS finals in late June into early July 2012.

I guess we will be around Brazil time frame.
I hope they do not cut in line and be obnoxious. If they do - we will talk to a WDW CM. There are laws if pushed or shoved by another person.

We like June/July - I think it is less rainy than August and less likely to have a hurricane.

I have to second the rec from a PP who said late August is the way to go(the dates you have are great). There won't be any way to beat the heat in June or Aug, but in late Aug the crowds are significantly smaller because a lot of the southern schools are already in session.

I just got back from a visit Aug9-20. The parks weren't empty, but they weren't nearly as full as mid-summer.

Our ideal time to visit the park during the summer is now late August. Won't interfere with our children's school calender and the crowds are favorable!

As we are presently experiencing..................hurricanes have a greater chance of impacting your vacation in August as compared to June. Not saying that it will happen, but a June trip reduces the chances.

August without a doubt if you can do it. The crowds are nowhere near what they are in June AND it's Value season. Actually, my next trip is that same week in August you're thinking about.

We are going June 17-23rd 2012. First trip since I was about 8. We picked June because I am a teacher and I can't get off through the year and July or August seemed to be a little more hot from what I read. I wish I had the option of a cooler month but right now we don't. We have two and five year old girls so I hope it is not too hot for them!
