June, July or August 2018?

We are looking to maybe visit Disneyland for the third time. Basically I am seeing the 3rd week of August the prices at the Disneyland Resorts have come down significantly, which makes me think the crowds that week are lower. We did go the first week of June this year, had a great time, although most nights were grad nights, which we worked through with little problems. We are going to Walt Disney World the first week of October and so I am kind of leaning toward going in June to spread out our vacations, but am definitely not ruling out August at all based on that.

For those who are local and go often, what are your experiences? Trying to decide when would be the lower crowds and taking in account the higher temperatures.

Thanks :)

If I were you, I'd choose June, but only once the So Cal APs are blocked. Check the block out calendar and base your trip on that :

Agree with the PP that June after blackouts kick in is good. July can be very nice with regard to crowds and may or may not be hot. August can get very hot and sometimes humid plus Disney starts shortening the park hours sometimes as early as the second week and refurbs start creeping in during the fourth week for sure and sometimes the third. Personally I would probably pick the last week of June or sometime the first half of July.

Personally, I would also opt for June if you have a WDW trip scheduled for October. This way, it spreads out your Disney trips! If you had said you were thinking of September for DLR, that would be different because you could see HalloweenTime at DLR and then Halloween at WDW, but there won't be much in the way of Halloween (except merchandise) at DLR in August. If you go to DLR in June, the resort should already be in full Summer season mode, which means long hours and full entertainment. Also, as mentioned, mid-to-late August is the start of the transition period, when the parks go from summer to fall, which means potentially more refurbishments, shorter hours, and reduced entertainment (they don't usually post the schedule until 45-days in advance, so it's hard to say how things will be next year).

We are thinking of going the 2nd week of June 2018. Originally we were planning to boycott Disney for a couple of years until after Star Wars land open but I realized I just can not go that long. Ha!
Never been in June or really summer for that matter so not sure what to expect. Seems like its just busy all the time so I guess anytime is as good as any. I am a little afraid of grad nights since I have two littles so we will try our best to navigate our way around those dates the best we can.

THIS! Late June, after So Cal and So Cal Select block-out starts is the BEST! Not too crowded. Warm but not too hot. Everything is open. Park hours are long. Fireworks, night time shows (Fantasmic, World of Color) every night and parades every day.

I was just looking at the the blockout calendar too. Are SoCal AP's a much bigger group than SoCal Select AP's?

We got Deluxe AP's in July and thought July was better than I expected for crowds. I think a lot had to do with both SoCal AP's being blocked. We were thinking of a June trip next summer but aren't a fan of massive crowds.

Why are SoCal AP's blocked on June 20-21?

If I was to go again in the summer I would towards the end of August when the kids have gone back to school still had summer hours with les crowds until all the AP were unblocked then it got more busier in the afternoons and evenings but still not too crazy
