June/July/August ... the lesser of 3 evils

:rotfl:
Swimming is a definite possibility during the Xmas/New Year with the added bonus of it not being very crowded as it's just us mad Brits in the water :rotfl::rotfl:

That would be YOU mad Brits. My Scottish blood did not provide me with the central heating I would have expected. It needs to be 30 in the shade with no breeze for me to get into the water. DD on the other hand just doesn't feel the cold at all so she will swim while I sit with my blanket on the lounger :rotfl2:

Lee we ALWAYS go in December and DDs swim most days:thumbsup2

Like you we have gone at various times of the year and about 12 years ago decided to give Christmas a go and have never looked back:love: I honestly don't think I could ever go any other time of year now as I feel we would be missing so much in the way of park decs, parades etc:santa:

Don't get me wrong Christmas Day etc can be a nightmare in some of the parks and we have had some chilly weather (must honestly compared with here it's manageable :rotfl2:)

Righty or wrongly I have always taken my DD's out of school a Christmas time and flew out just before the prices increase, my argument is in all honestly what at they missing in school the week before christmas:confused3, I know some people wouldn't agree with this but it's always worked ok for us and they've always caught up with the work they've missed:thumbsup2

Thank you. It does give us another option as, like I said, she has 2 weeks off at Christmas and my office closes for 12 days over Christmas and New year so I could tag a week's leave onto that and have a good long break. I am not too bothered about Christmas day at the parks - we are more likely to give the parks a miss or just do a very early start and then maybe some resorts for the later part of the day. Not sure really but it gives another option. :goodvibes

Remember Lee that when the kids are getting towards the start of their many many school holidays, they dont every seem to be doing much in those last few days . maybe you could tag those days on beforehand.

We took our boys out for 1 week before oct hols when they where in secondary school, by the time the council added on all the extra public holidays they had to get that year it turned out to be only 2 days off unofficially, 1st year was fine for taking them out but i wasn't so happy about the later years ,but we all survived !
The down side for us now is that my DH is now college lecturer and we HAVE to take school holidays and nothing extra , pain in the bum ! going in July for the first time this year so hope it be ok !

School holidays are our problem too...

We get 2 weeks at Easter, but oldest DS is sitting his 4th year exams this year, so will have 5th year exams next year just after Easter, and we don't know yet if he's staying on for a 6th year or heading straight to somewhere else... can't disturb his studying with 2 weeks in Florida, despite what he thinks! :rotfl2: Youngest DS is starting secondary school this autumn too. We did the Easter holidays in 2010 and it worked well for us, but it's a no-no for next time.

They only get a week in October, so that isn't an option either.

Summer holidays are an option, 6 weeks from start of July to middle of August, so I think our best option out of those is the last week in July and first week in August.

Other option is Christmas and New Year when they get 2 weeks, which DH is keen to do. I think it is too expensive, and will be too cold and too busy! But it's under discussion :rotfl:

All pie in the sky until we save up, and then see what offers are around. Would like the OKW deal with free DDP, but it's looking less and less likely that that will be available when we are ready to go again.

Still very interesting picking up on other people's views, it's all being mentally stored away! :thumbsup2

We may have to brave the last two weeks of August this year! Last year we went in May and it was perfect! i really want to go but am slightly worried i may be disappointed or not be able to enjoy it due to the humidity everone is talking about! :confused3
