TP2 & Tomar, I can relate to your commute to NYC. I live 30 miles south of chicago. With 2 main highways crossing into us and up. BUT to get to chicago in the morning for a job: You need to plan 3 to 4 hours in and probably 4 -5 hrs out. It is just a massive parking lot. We used to have fields and corn between here and there and only 2 lanes. Now its 2 major expressways all 4 to 6 lanes and it is built solid all the way. You can take the train, which alot of people do, but I get train sick. That motion / rocking thing does not work. So its community hospitals for me. 5 minutes to work. We visit chicago a few times a year, but its an all day event or at least well planned out. Trying to miss the big commuter times on the highways.

EE22, its 8 here right now. But at least it is not snowing. :wizard: Wondering what the temperature is in florida?

mky:cutie:

Tomar: So funny. I keep waiting to run into you. I actually heard someone get called from a waiting room with your last name and took a second look. When I lived in the city I took the bus once. Never again. It took like 3 hours to make a 15 minute journey by subway. Too many stops.

That government money is what is allowing us to go this summer.:worship: I am so happy for it.

MKY: Your roads sound like the Long Island Expressway. Bad planning I guess. They never thought it would become this populated this far from city. Either that or they figured it would be someone elses problem to figure out. We just stay away. We do need to take the girls in for museums and stuff but we are dreading it.

MKY- Yep- It ain`t a pretty picture on the roads here in NY & NJ that`s for sure....most likely just like Chicago, yes !:drive:

OK OK.... ....8 degrees and Tomar is looking like the Tin Man in the wizard of Oz ! ...." Frozen and Stiff " !!!!! :cold:

TP2- AWWW:cloud9: ....I wish it WAS me in the waiting room so pleasantly suprised ! :goodvibes ;)
YIPEE!!! Uncle Sam is paying for all the ....TP2`s to go to the world this year !!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Okay...I'm behind on the thread...what a day. WOW!! I try to get caught up this weekend, but I'm not hopeful. Two steps forward...and the wave gets me again. I can't keep up.

It was -12 this morning.
This afternoon we all put on shorts though because we are now in the 20's:cool1:

My stove blew up tonight:scared1: not really blew up, but I think I have to go buy a new one...it blew the fuses when I was cooking the pizza. That's not a good sign.

BUT!!! We now have AIRFARE!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hi everyone.

EE22 - I had the same thing happen to my old stove. When the element goes in the oven, it blows the fuses in the store (safety feature). You can get a new element really inexpensively at the hardware stores. Check it out before you buy a new one. They don't last as long as the old stoves do.

Mouseaddicts - I feel for you on the commute. A lot of people in Windsor commute to Michigan every day and it can really add up. I am very lucky to be only a couple of miles from work (4.6 Kilometers) so it only takes me 8-10 minutes. They are doing construction and the joke I tell is that it doubled my commute. It can take up to 15 minutes. I work so close to home I can come home for lunch if I want to and my schedule will permit it.

The kids are on the mend. They missed the rest of the week at school and I got nothing done from the work I brought home, so into the office I go again tomorrow. But they are starting to feeling better now. Thanks for all the good wished everyone.

Keep warm everyone.

I think the reality has set in...we have our airfare party: party: party:

It's warmer here this weekend too:woohoo: We've had one entire day without snow. It snowed every day this week and freezing rain on Friday night. DS still thinks he would have been okay driving to the movie Friday night:drive: NOT!!! It still didn't seem that warm with the wind since it was still in single digits and it was last night too, but I'll take above zero that's for sure.

I hope everyone is doing well. Stove is fixed and it did just need a new heating element...thank goodness...that's Mickey money otherwise.;)

I have to call today and cancel the old adrs from when we added days and I moved days. :upsidedow

Happy Sunday!

EE22 - glad to hear the stove was not ruined

I did some :surfweb: to see what other restaurants we might want to hit and man does it require a lot more planning than we like to do. Having the menus on this site is a big help. :worship:

I think I will add 50's Prime Time to our first day, but I am struggling trying to figure out what to do on other days.

Does anyone have Tour Guide Mike's list of parks to hit and avoid for March 8 -15th and can just tell me the top one to hit and the top one to avoid for each of those days?

Thanks.

We had a nice weather day yesterday...in the 40's and now today we are under blizzard warnings.:scared1: :scared1:

Where is the FL sun.:confused3
Knowing we have airfare makes things seem better.:goodvibes

Hiya everone!:cheer2:

WoW, getting to our 180 mark. I will have to set my clock on Sat. (cause I am off) and call in at 6am. Are the hours the same on the weekend?
Still been playing with the airfare and car. might try to set up the rental car and pretty sure which time I will take for the plane. Don't want to jump till get my vac. approved, for this year. We are looking into smaller suv's cause of max going. But would like a smaller car after the airport mess, for parking at DTD.;)

We got your warm weather EE22. It is actually 50 here, it is still January? Guess mother nature felt bad after the last few weeks.

EE22, congrat's on your airfare.  Are you doing the sanford airport again?

Candi, good luck on the last minute planning.

Hope everyone has a great week.
Happy planning, mky:cutie:

Hey y'all!

EE22 - Congrats on the airfare! :woohoo: Now you can go into super-planning mode!

We'll all be packing soon ....... :laundy:

MKY - Yes, the weekend hours are the same! You'll have to let us know what you get. Good Luck!!! We didn't have any probs booking everything we wanted - and we were just under the 180 mark (like about 175)

Candi - Have fun cruising the menus :surfweb: and finding a suitable spot for a "last-minute" ressie! Let us know what you pick!

As an aside - Our family always enjoys the 50's Prime Time - The food is good, like "home-cooked" style & the atmosphere is very unique and fun - especially if you get a good server! :thumbsup2

Okay - playing a little catch-up here ...

WEATHER:
I agree - it's unanimous (sp?) - EE22 has the worst weather of the group! Of course, on the flip side, I have the best weather of the group! :cool1: 65 is quite sunny & warm for January ... even in "HOTlanna"! We're just enjoying it while we got it! :thumbsup2

I suppose that gives me 2 pluses for my geographic location - #1 Good Weather & #2 Close proximity to the mouse! :cloud9: I think I'll stay here!

COMMUTE:
Yes - it is LONG - and mind numbing .... but, in my field, there is just not a job in my home town. I've gradually worked my way farther away from home over the past 8 years in my career path, but I love what I do and I'm not willing to move --- perhaps I should consider a helicopter? :confused3

I am fortunate that my current employer allows me to work from home 2 days a week, so it does help quite a bit! That has become more & more common in our metro area as the traffic has gotten so much worse in the past 5 years! :scared1: Hopefully, even if I chose to leave this current job, my next employer will allow a similar arrangement.

HOME APPLIANCES:
EE22 - I feel your pain ....... although we weren't quite as lucky. My stove we the cheapest thing available for purchase when my ex & I built our house 10 yrs ago, so it finally gave up on us. Well, it was more like it gradually started working sporatically. DH's parents always give us $$$ for Christmas, so that's what we did this year - bought a new stove! :goodvibes It's a nice smooth surface one! I love it!

Funny thing though --- about 2 weeks after we bought the stove, our dryer bit the big one! :scared: Murphy's Law, right? So, we had to buy a new super-duper heavy-duty top-o-the-line clothes dryer! :laundy: I can do all sorts of laundry now - it's actually quite nice! The washer's next ..... unless something else breaks! :rotfl:

Tomar & Candi - so glad the kiddos are feeling better! :grouphug:
Hopefully the Perfectlyprincess: can hang tough until spring!

Wow, did we turn around today. 50 degrees all afternoon & tonight it started hailing. From there 1.5 hrs ago we now have a full blown blizzard. We have about 4 to 5 inches down in no time, and it is just blowing & blowing. Guess we are close enough to be the windy city tonight. Not that we want to be.

Candi, I think I still have your email, and I will try to send you something.;) You are so close now. Feburary is going to fly by [even if it is leap year]. You will be our 1st one to try out space ship earth. :wizard:

Still playing around with adr's and getting ready for ground hog day. Thinking about trying Marakessh (sp)? or whispering Canyon? Cape May buffet? or 1900 park faire? Any suggestions? yes, mouseaddict's we love 50 prime time too. Not a big fan of the show, just american cooking. :) Somehow, we really prefer the sit down's at mgm then the other parks, even epcot. :confused3 I kinda think that sis will be able to pick foods at these places easier? What do you think Tomar? Does Mr. Tomar like any of these?

Happy Planning, mky:cutie:

MKY - I got your email! You ROCK! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cool1: :cool1: Oh and my lips are zipped.

I have been trying to get through to plan my dinners but I have run into the 11 month mark for booking Christmas stays at the DVC. I am WAY too cheap to pay the long distance charges to call the regular number. I will put the 50's Prime Time on the must do list since you recommend it.

mouseaddicts - I found our 7th year of marriage really rough...on the appliances that is :rotfl: :rotfl: It seems that everything we owned wore out that year including the car. On the plus side, I still have my two slice toaster from my college days. Told you I was cheap. Christmas morning with a two slice toaster and six for brunch is always fun!:lmao: :lmao:

We have been warmer today as well but now have a huge storm with very high winds coming in. It is pouring rain here right now.

37 days to go and I just received my package for the Magic Express by courier today! :cool1: :cool1:

MKY....yes, doing Sanford with Allegiant. I'm glad I bought last week...they have already jumped $25 for one of our dates.

Happy Windsday Everyone.

We didn't get the snow...thank goodness it missed up, but I'll be taking stock in hair spray with the wind today:scared1:

MKY- If you call ahead...or in the case of Cape May Cafe`..you can just mention that "Bug" has to watch her carbs...they will accommodate you ..no problem ...you might have to wait alittle more ....but not long at all ;) .......the sugar-free desert is yummy....a chocolate brownie cake...with chocolate icing...and cool whip free...with strawberrys ...:cloud9: YUM-O !
Your gunna want one yourself !!:goodvibes
Mr. Tomar is not a fan of Hollywood brown derby....it`s a nice restaurant...but you have to understand that it is "IN" the park...where there is soooo much traffic...and not alot of time for personal service (or changes of any kind)...really....
What we usually do is eat at a resort ....and go to the park afterwards :goodvibes Through trial and error (and with HBD it was 3 times:rolleyes1 )....we found this is the best way to enjoy Dinner....
Epcot is hit or miss....I think it`s all in the time that you make your ressie...
but certainly try to call alittle before hand......
Speaking of "Bug"....LOL (and I say that in a joking way ;) )....my whole house came down with one this week !!:scared: ....It knocked me for a loop that`s for sure....sick to my stomach for 2 days and I mean ....PAIN ! ...and now alot of respirtory symtoms  I already went through 3 cans of Lysol Spray Disinfectant........!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Tomar got it first ....then me...now my younger DS....Our pharmacy said its a virus thats going around our neck of the woods...ick.:headache: ...here we go again folks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1:

Hope everyone`s week is going well

Tomar: You poor thing. I HATE the stomach bug. I was thinking of something. I have been reading a lot of threads about the stomach bug running rampid in DW. Anyone think it has something to do with the bus system? I was just thinking about how crowded the buses are and how they cram you in. Probably a breeding ground for illnesses.

MKY: I am kindof in the same boat at you. Our 180 day mark is during the break from school. I know we will be all off schedule. I am normally up at 6:15 because I have kids come at 6:40 am for before school care. That week I can sleep in but will need to set the alarm. We were going to go skiing that week before I got the 40% off code. Now we are saving every penny for DW so we will be around.

EE22: To me...getting airfare is so exciting. I feel like it is the cement of the vacation. Before getting flights, it is almost like we are thinking we would like to go. The flights mean you are really going.:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Mouseaddicts: Not sure what career path you have followed but WOW! That commute is huge. That is worse than me commuting to Manhatten and I NEVER go there, even for a long weekend. I cannot imagine doing it on a daily basis.:worship: :worship: :worship:

Candi: Good luck with your reservations. Anyone else see the thread where the guest was yelled at by CM for calling to make an "ADR"? I guess they are only called reservations now and not ADR's. Woman was pretty nasty on the phone and it is recognized that this site is the one that uses the term. The CM said "you people from that website".:scared1: Pretty funny thread.

TP2- I don`t know too much about the wdw Bus System.....BUT....I can tell ya that Tomar felt like a "BUS" was running over my stomach for the last few days !!! ROTFL  :rotfl:
Seriously though....I bet it IS sort of like takeing the subway to work...or being in a crowded elevator with a sick someone !!...:scared1:
Hense..I carry alot of purell hand sanitizer and lysol wipes around in the world :tiptoe:

About ADR`S- It`s funny ...when the system was called "Priority Seating"...no one got the phrase wrong ....not the cms...not the guests ...no one....so they changed the wording....to "Advanced Dining Reservations" (which is a mouthful for me when I call :rolleyes1 ;) )....but...that`s what I say...."Hello...Im calling to make our Advanced Dining Reservations ... and..it`s become a contraversy !!:upsidedow ...ADR`S...is just the Abreviation of the phrase...it`s easier to say ...but...for some reason ...it did dawn on me...that a CM might misunderstand if he/she is not fully awake ...or not on the same page as I am at that moment....LOL:laughing: ....How do you guys word it when you call ?

Tomar: So sorry you were so sick. For me, stomach issues are the worst and I get crazy when I see someone throw up. I run and throw everyone in the tub with Clorox!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'm not really kidding.:rolleyes1
