June, July, August PLANNING thread

EE22: You sound even sadder than me about not having a trip to plan yet. I am definately torturing myself though by checking on discounts and plugging in dates.

I just got a call too asking for help on a trip. I said when did you book, she said, "we are going in 2 weeks!":scared1: I just got silent on the phone. I know I am obsessed, but so many people have no idea what goes in to planning a successful trip to DW.

Mouseaddicts: I think DH is softening to the idea but he has not agreed to anything yet. I am hoping for a Valentines Day card that says to go ahead and start booking.

I did get a post card this week. It is not for the 40% off though that everyone is talking about. It is for a value resort, $83 per night but the dates are February and March. Of course a lot of days are blacked out. We don't have the time or money to go now, not to mention half the fun is in the planning. I am just going to keep my fingers crossed for something unbelievable for the summer to just pop up.

MKY: 40 pounds:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Sully is about 12 pounds and he enough for us to handle. I can't imagine a 40 pound puppy.

Tomar: So sorry to hear that the princess is sick. It really stinks when they get sick and can't even tell you what is bothering them. Hopefully she will be better soon.

Good luck planning all of your ADR's. I hope you get everything that you want.

I will just apologize now that this will be so long, but I'm a chatter & I type fast! ;)

I think I am overwhelmed ........ I am going to the Swan/Dolphin for a few days in late March for a work conference. While there, I plan to hit a park (or two or four) with a friend that's also going. :thumbsup2 Can't let that AP go to waste now!

Then, a week and a half after I get back, we are going to Vero Beach for spring break. :goodvibes Just a few days - we're using some of our DVC points. The kids want to go to the beach, so why not, right?

Then, DH & I have an "adults only" trip planned with another couple for Memorial Day weekend. We're staying @ BWV (on points) for that trip. We've added the Dining Plan to save some cash since we'll be doing TS at night. The couple that's going with us has NEVER been, so they're excited about it. We chose BWV due to proximity to Epcot (world showcase adult beverages). :cool1:

THEN ... we have our annual family vacation the week of July 4th! We're staying @ SSR (again, points) for the first 4 nights & then transfer to CR MK View the last 3 nights.

Now, with all these trips coming up, do you think we have made ONE SINGLE ADR?!?!? Noooooooooooo :scared1:

It's too much!!! I can't do it all. :scared: I can't.

DH & I were looking at TS menus on allearsnet the other night to try to figure out some places to go that we haven't been. We came up with a few we'd like to check out, but we haven't made ADRs!!! We have GOT to get on the ball!!!

We are now taking ADR suggestions ...... anyone?

We were on the dining plan last summer and got to enjoy lots of great restaurants. One of our favorates was Spoodles. It is right on the Boardwalk where you are staying and is definately more of an adult restaurant. No characters or anything and the food was more upscale. Only one TS credit which was surprising. This was actually our most expensive meal. Other than that, the regulars come to mind. Le Cellier was also one of our favorate meals. We stayed 14 nights so we sampled lots and those stick out the most in my mind.

I just HAD to chime in here .....

DH comes home yesterday & says a woman he works with walked up to him (at work - YESTERDAY) and says "We're going to Disney World. Can you help me?"

He replies "when are you going?"

"The 17th, 18th & 19th."

"OF FEBRUARY?!?!?"

"Yes."

"That's not a lot of time to plan. I'm not sure what I can do for you."

"Well, how big is it (Disney World)?"

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Okay, so maybe that's not the conversation verbatim, but you get the point.

DH went on to explain in somewhat layman terms the general size of WDW. They are staying offsite & have limited funds, so his best recommendation was MK base tickets. They have never been, and based on their income & lifestyle (not that there is anything wrong with it!!!), this will likely be their ONLY trip. DH says he just feels so bad that there is no time to help them. He said he like "I just don't know what to say. They can't plan. If I tell them how big it really it, I'll overwhelm them! I don't want to scare them away." :confused3

You said it best, most people just don't understand what goes into planning a successful trip to WDW! :sad2:

Okay - I've been working on uploading our summer '06 photos to Shutterfly to share ...... if anyone's interested ..... :confused3 This is taking a LOT longer than I realized! I'm trying to organize the pics into albums so there aren't so many at once .... it can be overwhelming! :rotfl:

Where did you make your reservations for?? What time do you think is best??

There is a share online option in Shutterfly when you are ready. You can create an address book and then send the pictures from there. I may be took late, but Shutterfly will only allow you to share 250 at a time so your albums should be less than that. I had issues in December as I took nearly 800 pics in one day:rotfl: DH didn't get what I was telling him and he messed up Christmas Eve. but I figured it out and when he finally listened to me AFTER he tried to share on Shutterfly, he knew what he had to do:goodvibes

OT: Since I'm planning a Mouse-less summer, I thought I'd share my new mom adventure. DS started Driver's Ed at $365!:scared1: It's going well, but DD won't every drive!!! After Indy Speedway she thinks she's ready for the open road and knows how to drive!!!:rotfl2:

:drive: :drive:

When I took tickets Friday night at the bball game one of the moms there told me her DD just totaled their car:scared1: :scared1:

Where did you make your reservations for?? What time do you think is best??

Times.... is something that only YOU would be the best judge of...as everyone has a different plan for how thier vacation at the world should go...
If you figure out where you will be for a certain day...it may make it easier to chose a restaurant...and of course...a time:)

mouseaddicts- I pmed you......thank you:goodvibes

Okay...so I told you I was torturing myself. My dad calls and says you have mail from Disney. Here I am sick and tortured but I manage to get myself and the kids dressed to drive over to his house to find out what this mail is. I got it, not the same code everyone is talking about but a code for February and March. Of course DH still has not agreed to going back. Well, to add to my torture (we can't go during that time frame) I call to see if the promotion would be good for any dates over the summer. The rep tells me sure and gives me pricing and all for Boardwalk, AKL, and POR. Problem is I have to get tickets as it is a package and I have tickets left from last year. Well, I get my prices and they are very good but we can't travel until August 21. If we take a 10 day trip that would bring us to the Friday before Labor Day weekend which I am sure will be a fortune to fly. Not sure if this is a good deal at this point. I think we may be better at the S/D at $125 per night. Even with paying for transport we still come in cheaper than staying at BW and rates are available from August 5. Much earlier than at the BW.

Mouseaddicts: Loved the pictures. Can't wait to see more. I love the Boardwalk. I have never stayed there but would absolutely love to. Just love the location. Thanks again for sending the link over.

I haven't tortured myself to that extend!:sad2:
I know we cannot go so I've given up any thoughts. I have my countdown going still...I think it's days since we left. when it gets to 400+ I'll have a complete and total breakdown!

TOMAR!! you are right. The deals for teachers at the S/D are wonderful. The people (my family:blush: ) I travel with are resort snobs and wouldn't stay there last June so we paid mega bucks with no code:badpc: . I remember those codeless days of last spring. How I long for no codes...at least I was going.

The time will fly...I cannot believe it's Feb this week!

When the Magic lives, there are wayspixiedust: maybe not this year, but hopefully sooner than I think.

I could always run away!!:drive: :drive:

About ADR's, is there any place that gives a list of the restaurants that need ADR's and the ones that don't. Do counter service places need ADR's?

Counter service doesn't need ADRs.
I'm not sure where there is a list of where ADRs aren't taken.
ESPN Club and Beaches and Cream do not take ADRs.

I'm sure if there is a link, someone will know.

Hey y'all :wave2: Glad everyone liked the pics. I've posted one or two new albums & am working on another one. As long as you have the link, the password should let you back in. :thumbsup2

EE22 - You should try creating a collection on shutterfly like that! It makes it much easier to send. We got yours & have started looking at them. We'll let you know when we're done ... next year! :rotfl:

TP2 - Here's some pixiedust: for you! I hope you get DH to soften up to another trip .... soon!!!

I feel bad that you two don't even have a trip planned & here we are going :crazy2: trying to make ADRs for our next TWO trips!

Speaking of ADRs ..... we have spent DAYS sitting here :surfweb: reading restaurant reviews, menus, looking at photos, etc. trying to make just the right choice to maximize the value of our limited number of TS credits on the DDP for May & July ....... It's literally enough to drive a girl to drink! :coffee:

TOMAR - DH wasn't feeling the love for the Spoodles menu selection, so we're still searching .......

Anyone got suggestions? Anyone? Anyone??? :listen:

Hey Chloe ...... I thought about you the other day. DH & I found a thread from a new poster asking other Disers to convince him why he should stay onsite vs. I-drive. If I can find it again, I'll post the link for you. The folks on there had some very valid points that I think everyone here would agree with.

Seriously, even if you can only stay in a value resort .... it will be a HUGE value to your overall WDW vacation experience!

The values are great! We've stayed there 3 or 4 times now and haven't had a bad experience yet! More than I can say for the I-Drive HoJo we spent last year's anniversary trip in!!! :faint:

Keep those questions coming Chloe ...... and keep up the diligent planning! It will pay off in the end! :thumbsup2
