June/July/August 2006 Code watch

If you read the boards, lots of DVC'ers continue to enjoy non-DVC accomodations @ WDW, especially on weekends:thumbsup2 ...all DVC'ers aren't immune to waiting for a good deal @ the resorts for themselves or other family members....enjoy!

cindyfan - up until recently we were always able to get great deals on summer family pkgs @ Clifton Hill Quality Inn/Comfort Inn less than $300 for 2 nights, breakfasts, 1 dinner, tokens, ride tix, etc.) - not any longer...they've doubled in price (with less gimmies) since last year..,keeping us from running up over Memorial Day weekend.

Back to the regularly scheduled code waiting:wizard:

Not shooting the messenger ..... just responding to the suggestion the messenger made.

It's been said before but is worth mentioning again .... APs make sense for guests who plan to spend a lot of time in the parks in a given 12 month period. That is the only reason they should be purchased. Any other perq or benefit should be considered gravy.

Disney will offer room discounts when they need to, not when we need them to.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see them offered. I am trying to get an AP discount for friends and family that are traveling with us and paying cash for Fri and Sat night at OKW.

Yet another benefit of DVC .... not worrying about codes anymore. :thumbsup2

Good luck everybody.

Hi all my June/July/Aug buddies, this is off topic but I had to share...

We went to DTD on Saturday (it was mobbed!!!!) and my DH bought me the new Mickey/Minnie bride-groom pin for our Anniversary and surprised me with it on Mother's Day!

Along with a note that said 'to my wife and wonderful mother of my son, here's something for you to wear on our upcoming trip to the Happiest Place in the World!'

I gotta tell you, my DH does not have the Disney bug like the rest of us, so for him to do this, to write this, it was such a surprise!!!

Anyway, had to share cuz I'm bubbling over.

Hope all you mom's had a great day too!

I just hung up with grand gatherings to see about changing our hotel from the Yacht Club to the Boardwalk Villas. I asked her about discounts and she said to keep checking back. The CM said it's so strange that they haven't been released as usually there is some kind of warning and she hasn't heard that they won't be released this summer.
Who knows at this point what the heck Disney is thinking. They usually do at least offer something to Florida residents and don't seem to be doing anything about that as well.

I really don't remember the last time there was no FL resident code. As a matter of fact, I've never used the AP code, just the FL code.

No doubt - that is why I'm here :teeth:

But for the most part, between the points that a DVC member owns, the ability to borrow points from next year, the ability to rent additional points from other members, and the member discount (25% off rack rates), the majority of a DVC Member's vacation is not dependent on codes.

My point is, before I was a DVC member, not getting a discount on a room for 2 weeks would have had a significant impact on the cost of my vacation. Now, if I can't get one for the weekend stays at other WDW Resorts it is not a make or break deal for my vacation. Plus I still have the options listed above available to me. So, as I stated, not needing a code is an added benefit of being a DVC Member.

Personally, now that my family has gotten used to a 1BR unit, it is hard to go back to a standard hotel room, so we tend to stay put on weekends and use the 25% Member Discount. I do not feel as though using points on Fri and Sat nights is a wise thing (the only negative about DVC in my mind) - but I know others do not agree with me on this point.

The statement was made more tongue in cheek than anything else. I recall from castmember friends, and travel agents that the annual pass was something that Disney intended to reward in terms of certain perks. We have had it for 10 years and this is the first year there has been no discount. Folks can do what they want about it, but : I was only trying to provide some information, don't shoot the messenger. :woohoo:

Is that true, would this be the first time in 10 years that no codes are released? I suspect that room occupancy was higher in the late 90s since I think WDW tourism was booming and there were less available rooms (no All Star Movies, AKL or Pop). If that's true, then maybe room occupancy is a not the factor driving the decision to delay/not release summer codes.

You can send all of the emails you want. Get a petition going, call your Congressman, get Dubya on the phone .... it is not going to matter. We are not entitled to discounts. Disney is not a charitable organization.

"Dubya" could get it done. Just tell him that the WMD's are hidden under the Castle and he'll take the whole place over.

I'm thinking about trying to plan a surpirse, last minute trip to WDW in July. Anyone know of any codes or discounts available at that time???

We haven't been since August 2002 and we're all having Disney withdrawal.

Thanks a bunch.

Nothing here this morning either. I did receive an offer to stay at the Yaht Club/Beach Club water view for $200 per night. Tink

P.S. For all of those with cold weather, I got sunburned this week-end! :bitelip:

Something is wrong with this post :confused3 I'm paying $384.67 for a standard view room at the Beachclub June 20 until June 28. With the AAA discount.

:) We have had an annual rate for the last 7 years, but in inquiring through some permanent cast members, they say that they believe it has been 10 years. They could be wrong, but I have been getting some sort of AP cut for the last 7 years. It was a deep cut during the summer following 9/11 and that winter. I am also very surprised there isn't a Fl passholders discount....

MAKmom- I'm not for sure what your getting at when you said my post was wrong! Rest assured it's not! To answer everyone's question is was for $200 a night for a water view room at the Yacht Club/Beach Club. It wasn't a pin, but the cm said that this offer had just popped up on our record. It was the second time it had done this to her on her shift that day. It has something to do with marketing. Tink

Wow when did you book it for? I thought for sure it was a type o

Call me crazy, but I didn't book it! It was only for certain days and those days couldn't be adjusted. We are not into switching resorts, and then switching back with our children being so young. Now, I kind of regret not doing it.

It was not available for me June 20 until June 27. I would call if you have other dates. The CM said it is just for BC/YC. The Beach CLub was sold out for my dates YC has room

OMG....Nooooooooooooo! He'd bomb the hel* out of Cinderella's castle first!

I just called to check availability for our dates in mid-June, because we're thinking about changing resorts and had a very lengthy phone call with a very sweet CM trying to find something other than whet we have (BW & WL concierge).....

After quite a bit of checking, I asked about AP rates & the CM (very nicely)told me....."listen to what I'm saying, there's very limited availability, we have nothing to discount".....

So, I have to totally agree with those who think that no AP rates will be released in June......They're just too full! I'm sure there's hope for July & August, but it really seems that June won't happen.

That's the same reaction I had yesterday when I was asking about tickets, etc and buying annual passes and renewing mine. He even indicated summer was filling up as well. We shall see.

I'd be looking at the rent/trade board to see if there is anything available for a DVC. I doubt that there is much to choose from for this summer though.
