June/July/August 2006 Code watch

My DH was talking the other day about "who's going to post on the DIS first when (if) a code does come out?" :rotfl: My money's on "laura". He's like "y'all are gonna be racing to the computer to see who can post the news first!" ...... I'm like "hey, as long as SOMEONE posts it, I should be one of the first to know!" :thumbsup2

You may want to call back. I was in the same situation with only able to get a courtyard view at WL, but Sunday night I noticed standard rooms had opened. I called Monday and switched to standard AAA rate and saved a few hundred $$. Still holding out for AP rates but hope is dwindling.

How did you notice that standard rooms at the WL had opened? Did you have to call central reservations?

I never thought I'd look forward to being on hold for an hour with a phone stuck in each ear, but I sure would love it... Thanks for calling!!!

Ok, here is a research question, (for fanatic's only).

We are getting alot of stat's for how disney is doing now, BUT prior 9/11 > what where those same stat's? Because back then it was the time of making ressies very early or you could not get what you wanted. Disney was booked. And they did have codes, even with skipping an occassional date, or month.....?????? Just wondering what the comparsion would be.

Many have posted yes, but they came at the last minute before trips.
I still see rooms at deluxes available during June.

Mouseaddict's > I really don't care if I am the first poster, but I do want to be on at least hold when the news breaks. (or i will be late for work). ;)

I KNOW I won't be first to post (we're on dial-up). I figure it'll be one of the "regulars" that breaks the news. As long as I'm in on "the know", I'm all good. :thumbsup2

I really think something "new" starts Sunday. The question is what & how will it be rolled out? website? newspaper? TV ads? all of the above???

Well, I don't know how they noticed but I will tell you my story. We had ressies later in June and about 3 weeks ago I began to worry about AP or FL res. codes being released after June 3rd so I decided to change our dates. I wanted to arrive right at the end of the June 3rd promotion, but no standard rooms were available where we wanted to stay. I just kept looking at the website every day, playing with the dates, arriving a day earlier, or later and one day I noticed a standard view was open! So I called and booked it.

Looking on the website saved me from calling all those times.

I don't know about any other resorts, but I will say ..... we ORIGINALLY wanted to stay at CR for this trip & couldn't book it back in Feb when we made our ressies as they were "sold out" of standard garden wing rooms at that time. We ended up booking back at the Poly with AAA rate. We kept waiting fore the codes to come out & since they didn't, I too started playing with our dates & resorts online. We compared & found out what a HUGE diff it would be fore us if we gave up on the monorail & stayed at POR for the week. DH just couldn't get on board with a mod vs. monorail for that week (July 4th crowds) so I checked the AAA site & found availability at CR and called immediately. We were able to book 3 nights in the garden wing "standard view" (parking lot) and saved $270 by doing so.

So ............ don't give up! Keep checking & calling. If someone cancels, you're in! :thumbsup2

"No mam...Have a good day...." I guess at this point Im ready to give up and just be happy I have my AAA discount. Have a great day everyone.
Hi, and thank yu for calling this morning :). ITA, I guess I`m lucky we have the AAA discount also, and I`m just about ready to throw in the towel with waiting for "the CODE", (as DH calls it)
The only consolation to all of this, is, I`ve gotten to meet alot of wonderful people on this thread :goodvibes , AND, my body is sort of an alarm clock now for 6:00 am :lmao:, so I get alot more things done in one day ;)

Have a good day everyone :wave2:

Thanks for the tip. I guess I'll check the website more frequently. We have ressies at the Caribbean Resort, but I'd love to get a standard room at the WL.
Have a wonderful time on your vacation!

You know.....everyone thinks I'm "That crazy Disney lady" already.....

If they only knew that I check these boards religiously every morning before even hitting the bathroom, so as not to miss anything.

...or page 200?

I don't particularly care, as long as we know something... :rotfl: Right now, I just wish they would either say, "Yes, something is coming out" or "No, AP rates will not be available for this time", at least that way we can get some relief from this stress....

Maybe something will pan out for Sunday.... :wave2:

I have been reading all the postings every day. I missed yesterday though. What could be going on on Sunday to make Disney have employees working more hours. Could it be that everyone that is looking for a code for June will be lucky on Mother's Day and get their wish.

From everything I read on this site about past codes and public discounts, does anyone really think that they are going to offer the public another discount besides the free dining in August/September.

This is my first time planning a Disney vacation. This will be the first time I have ever stayed on Disney property so I am looking for every discount. What type of public discounts do they offer besides the free dining or free hopper upgrades?

What has Disney offered to the public in the past and why would they offer another discount to the public and nothing to AP holders? A friend of mine is an AP holder and I know that she is waiting for codes. She doesn't have a computer so I fill her in on everything.

If Disney does have something in the works for Sunday, what newspaper do they advertise in? I live in New York and would really like buy to the paper Sunday morning and see what the offer is.

Thanks for the info.

I've been reading everyday for what seems likes months (actually, it has been months!) This is my first time looking for codes too.

I'm glad you mentioned the Sunday paper thing. The Houston Chronicle actually comes out Saturday so I'll be sure to grab one first thing in the morning and check. If there's something in the travel section, I'll be sure to let everyone know! Since we're leaving in a little over three weeks, I'm not holding my breath but even a small discount would be nice!!

We've done Disney for several years now, but this is our first year with APs. In the past, we've been able to use a "discount code" available to the general public for pretty good rates at Disney resorts. I don't know about this year, but in the past, there have been discounts available to anyone who knew "the code". We've never had a problem getting it applied.

Last year, we found out about the AAA discounts, so for now, we're applying that discount to our July trip. IF AP rates come out, we'll switch......

As far as the Sunday paper, I would buy the "big ones" ..... New York Times maybe? For us, it will be the Atlanta Journal Constitution (ajc). It's pure speculation, but it would make sense that any new "promotion/discount" would be advertised in the paper IF it's one being "announced" to the general public.

Good luck with your trip planning!!! Let me know if you want park maps - just send a PM. I'll be happy to mail them to ya! :thumbsup2
