June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Thank you, I did :) for the most part anyway.
The best part was...most couldn't believe I was that old. That was a good feeling.

The day went very well till mid morning when the long term sub for the man in our department (he was injured the weekend of Easter) can no longer sub because of her injury. We are in sad shape to find a replacement. I don't want to go back tomorrow to the chaos.

Let`s hope that our rate comes out early in the A.M :goodvibes , then you`ll be in a happier frame of mind at least !!! ;)

Okay, so when this week is over I think the reality of all this is going to hit me hard. We need to make a decision as to what to do next. Do we rebook in August with free dining, stay off site, or stay value? My husband REALLY wants to stay onsite because of the transportation. He feels that with a rental we are always obligated to stay together but with staying onsite we can come and go as we please. He feels that the freedom is invaluable but in the end I am a SAHM and he is a teacher, we have 3 kids so money is definately an issue. I am trying to stay positive for this week but at the end of the day I want to see some light at the end of this LONG tunnel.
I think that you should stay where it will feel like a vacation.

I couldn't do off site with the way we vacation. The boys go one way and the girls another. DH can't find the middle schools around here for the sporting events for the kids so good luck with driving around WDW! He didn't know his way around MGM let along driving around WDW. He gets lost at AKL for goodness sake.

I'd check what's available in a value.

Would you really save with the free dining? My family will only stay at AKL so the free dining isn't really a deal for me. I can't go then anyway. I will be back to work on the 16th of August and DS has football starting August 1st.

I get the $$ thing :)

Eeyore22 --> Just wanted to throw in my congrats! 20 years is nothing to sneeze at! My school is having our awards ceremony tomorrow, but I've only been with this district for three years.

Maybe you'll get some fabulous codes for your award this week. That'll beat a glass wedge any day!

Thanks. Most people used the word "survive" which was funny. It's been a great 20 years and I'd do it all over again even with giving up a different career along the way. It's been wonderful raising my kids working in the same district. I have spies everywhere :rotfl:

My old students are coming to work there in large numbers too! That's a bit much too handle sometimes.

Congrats on 20 years :teacher: , this is my DH 11th year. Can't believe how time flies.

We want to stay at AKL this trip, hence the AP codes. Last year we stayed POR which I thought was fine but DH was not happy. Room too small, resort too large, etc. We can go in August because school does not start until after Labor Day but my middle daughter starts kindergarten this year and they have orientation during the time frame we would be away. Really don't want her to miss that. We would also have to downgrade our hotel to CSR from AKL. DH is pretty insistant on staying onsite because of the transportation. I guess I will have to wait it out this week to see.

Eeyorelover22: Congrat's on the 20yrs! :cheer2:

I don't know how to post pics. DS would have to help me. He's out throwing discus with DH and DD and will need to get after his Spanish and Algebra tonight. I'll try to tomorrow though :) I should post a pic of my classroom. You would flip! It's ALL Disney and pink. I'll work on that.

tripplanner2 --> Our trip dates are pretty close. We're having the same issue trying to decide what we'll do if AP rates don't come out for our dates. We'll probably downgrade from our WL and AKL split stay to POR:RS and a few nights at AKL. (There are still rooms available for the week before our current dates...that's when we were originally going to go.) We had also thought about going at the end of August before back to school time. The free dining makes it a little more "doable," but it's still hard to look at those rates and not compare it to what could have been...Decisions, decisions. I keep trying to tell myself that I just need to hold out a couple more days before making any major decision. Maybe we'll wake up tomorrow morning and we'll all be doing a happy code dance! If not, we can all meet back up here and talk about what our back-up plans are!

Ooooh....I'm so nervous for the morning! I'll be posting bright and early.

I would love to see your classroom.

O.K. am I the only one who saw this or am I reading too much into it....in the new Mickey Monitor it reads "In our quest to bring passholders more savings and conveinance than ever, now you can instantly choose from a calander of future resort offers online ...".

I can't log into the passholder site...does this mean they are changing the way discounts are going to come out?!?! :confused3 :confused3

We are new AP's so all this is new to us.

Totally OT :offtopic:
My class celebrating Mickey's Birthday this year!

My classroom is all Disney too!! My kindergarten class really enjoys it.... except for the ones that like SpongeBob... :crazy2:

Congrats on 20 years!!! :wave2:

Mouseaddicts: Yes I saw that in mickey monitor too but nothing is on the web site. I had no problem signing on and nothing new just the june 3rd dates.

Pixie dust for codes tomorrow...

By the way, I just got on the passholder website just fine. That website is so darn unreliable! I hate that I get excited every time someone says they can't get on to the passholder site!

I actually just learned how to upload pictures to the pc myself  Last year we had the Photopass photographers take some pics, and they gave us a card to view them on-line, and allowed us to e-mail them to family and friends. This year my 2 DIL`s (our Both sons were married 1 year apart) taught me how to upload my pics to the pc. That`s as far as I got so far, and that`s alot for me!!!! :hippie:

My AP expires on July 13 so we need to travel before then to get the discounts so our travel period is kind of limited because of it. I also have the DDE card which works better for us than the dining plan because we are not big or expensive eaters. But I am with you. Lets not think about this until next week. We can start a new thread with backup plans. :wave2:

I have a trip planned for 16 days for 2 adults and 1 6-year old for July. I am booked with AAA at Pop Century. I was thinking about getting an Annual Pass since I will be there for 16 days.

I was thinking about changing my reservations and spend a week at All-Star Movies since my nephew looked at it and liked the way it looked and the rest of the time at Pop. I went on Expedia and there isn't a full week available at any of the values from 7/11 through 7/21. There are days available but not consecutive.

I haven't tried Disney's website. Can all the rooms for July be booked up at rack rate or AAA rate for July already. I understand August 13th on being booked, but July being booked.

I give up. I am happy I have Pop with the AAA discount. It's something.
Thank you to all you posters that supplied information about AAA. I don't drive, but I joined any way. The discount was well worth the $55.00 I had to pay to join. I saved about $168.00 with the AAA card, plus there are other discounts that I can use, such as Payless shoes.

Good luck to everyone waiting for an AP code, but it wouldn't be worth for me to get it since I probably won't be able to make another trip before the AP would expire if I purchased one and it doesn't look like the discount on a value would cover the cost of a Premium AP if they give one for July.

Thank you.

I'm on hold with CRO right now...I was just rechecking AAA rates online and there are a ton of new rooms available for my travel dates that weren't there a few days ago. We're staying at AKL for the second half of our stay and I had checked online AND with CRO and was told that the least expensive room available for our dates at AAA rates was a Savannah room. Now tonight, they have Standard and Water view available. I'm calling to see if CRO has the same thing. Maybe people are canceling because of lack of codes? Or they opened a new block of rooms they're saving for APs? :goodvibes
Either way, I feel kind of silly calling tonight to change the room (if possible) when I'll hopefully be calling back in the next day or two to apply an AP code. I don't call very often, so I figure it doesn't hurt to call now. Of course, I'll ask to see if there's any news...

Okay, I just talked to "Demetria" and she was not super pleasant. Said they only had Savannah rooms at AAA rate. When I asked politely about AP discounts/news she responded with a quick "NO." Oh well...At least if there are no codes we could consider booking a less expensive room at the same resort.

:cheer2: pixiedust: :cheer2: for tomorrow!

I paid off my room tonight...so they'll be out shortly :rotfl:

It's happened the last two years that way...within days of paying off the entire reservation, the codes come out. Then Disney sits on my money!!

Sounds like BRP in different clothes. I think if BRP wasn't so restrictive, it would have been okay. Like take phone calls, allow bookings inside 60 days, and not have a non-refundable deposit. Disney should listen to all the feedback, not just "get rid of it". Last June, they started it during our June trip...it was weird to come home to the uproar on the boards.
