I know this may sound wrong and I hope it will be taken with the good intentions it's meant, but given that it's such a short time until your trip, why cause yourself this extra stress? Just go with what you all can afford without the discount. Seriously, the stress just isn't worth it IMO. I know for me, based on the difference between a AAA rate and AP rate for one week at Poly GV, it's about $300. Sure, it's $300 I'd like to save but it also isn't enough to make it worth a ton of extra stress. Just decide and plan it, then you'll just get an extra bonus if an AP rate comes out for your timeframe.
As an aside to anyone reading, and maybe others that usually plan trips in the summer will agree, but I've found the earlier you can get your airline tickets the better. Especially now with the way gas prices have climbed each spring for the last couple of years. I've been going to Disney most every August for awhile now and I can say that in the past it was better to wait and see what deals you could get as summer neared. Not so the last two years, I've seen good deals in January for August two years now and snapped it up, thankfully since they went WAY up after that last year and this/ This winter I checked every day and in January saw a great rate on AA for $520 RT total for three from Boston to Orlando direct. Yeah, it forced me to commit to dates earlier than I may have liked, but I'm beyond glad I did because I haven't been seeing anything for the same dates under $1000 RT.
I guess my point is, don't hold out and stress over these AP rates since they either will be or won't be and there isn't much any of us can do about it. I think a lot of people short themselves on other potential savings just to be sure they go when an AP rate is available, which could end up costing more in several different ways, not the least of which is stress levels!
Here's to hoping for some bonus savings for all of us!
