I saw that you are an AP holder. Do you know if they typically offer discounts in August for passholders? I know they are offering the free dining at the end of Aug. through Sept. but of course that is not for us low life campers!

from what i understand it is after the kiddies go back to school...
since the FL legislature mandated that schools cannot begin earlier than two weeks before labor day, i would think the end of august would be your best bet
i usually don't go in august because i go back to work with the kiddies at school, we usually go in sept with a discount

We homeschool so we aren't worried about school. I am looking at the middle of August and hoping for an AP discount. I am also hoping that most people will show up at WDW at the end of the month since that is when the free dining starts. Is it as hot and humid mid-August as I think? Will we be miserable? Thanks Jen! BTW the blanket is adorable!

thanks...yes it is that hot and humid, bring fans, many many fans
i would go for the AAA discount and then find out if the AP is going to be better...look on mousesavers.com or get rhonda to be on the lookout for you for the codes when they come out...
We were there in August a few years ago. It was hot, of course, but being Florida it can be hot in January. The biggest thing that sticks out in my mind is the rain. This can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. Usually we welcomed a good shower mid-day to cool everything off and run people out of the parks! We packed ponchos and kept on truckin'
As for discounts, it may depend on how successful the free dining is and whether Disney feels the need to get people booked.
We go every August and last August was the hottest we've encountered. I may be wrong but I thought that a certain number of AAA discounts are offered every month. I've always gotten one for our August trip.
I am sooooooo disappointed in the AP rates. A premium is discounted to $72 from $78 unless I am missing something! $6, I was hoping for more. Last August we paid AP rate of $46 but it was also value season when we went. oh well, it is less $ we have to spend in the parks but we still get to go!
