June, August, or not at all?

We really want to go to Disney in 2016. Problem is, the only feasible times we can really go would be mid-end of June, or mid August. I've heard these are the worst months to go. For veterans who've been there these times, what do you recommend? It would just be my husband, me, and our daughter who'd be 10 months to one year old at the time. Because of her age, we would be taking things slow and having midday downtime regardless of the time of year we went. But I don't want her to be miserable either...,is it better to just wait until 2017 when we may be able to swing an off season time?

I would say that if you are veterans if you could hold off till an off season you will have a better time. It won't be as hot and the lines will be reasonable. If you really want to go in 2016 I would say June is always better then August.

I personally would pick mid June over August any day.

I've been at both time frames and August was just down right miserable.

We spent a good amount of time taking mid-day breaks and finding places to cool off, rather than enjoying our vacation.

Heat makes people cranky.

My husband and I went last June (third week), and it wasn't too terrible. It was a little crowded and hot, but totally manageable. We had a great trip and were able to do everything we really wanted to do. Take advantage of the rope drop for a little less heat and crowds. Take breaks at the hottest part of the day and make sure to drink lots of water. I would also look into attractions that are indoor shows to rest and cool off. Make sure to stop at the little water features where your little one can play. I would also recommend a little fan to attach to the stroller. If she falls asleep in the stroller, this will keep her comfortable and you can keep touring.

If you can withstand the unbearable, oppressive heat I would suggest end of August.
The crowds are totally reasonable at that time and the parks are open late, so you can take advantage of that time once the
sun is down.
Also, we like to stay deluxe and end of August is a value period for deluxe rates.

I would not take a baby when it's that hot. When I saw the title, I was going to say go ahead and go, but the baby changes things. That's just too hot, and when the baby is miserable, you'll all be miserable. A baby has to be in your arms, in a carrier, or in a stroller all the time. It's just too hot. WDW will always be there. Just wait.

We bookend-ed last school year and went mid Aug 2013 and mid Jun 2014. I really didn't notice much of a difference in crowds, heat/humidity, or park hours. They were pretty comparable trips. Both were very manageable with rope drops, afternoon breaks and reasonable planning for ADR's and FP+ times. My youngest was 13 months that August and 23 months in June and did just fine.

Some advantages of summer trips are long hours, easy to pack for, and you know you will be able to use the pools/water parks.

We personally slightly preferred the June trip over August only because we still had the rest of the summer to enjoy afterward. I have a school age son and we all didn't really like coming right back and jumping into school/activities.

I like mid Aug. I like having something to look forward to at the end of the summer. We have been in mid to late Aug. After Aug 15th many of the schools down south are already back in session. The later in Aug you can go the quieter it is.

I vote for august. Your baby will be more of a toddler by then, will be more verbal and have more of an interest in things.

We don't mind the august heat. Yes, it's hot, but I love the heat. I would suggest frog togs and personal fans to help beat the heat, especially for the little one.

I would not take a baby during that heat. We went in August once and never will again. Between the heat and torrential rain ( when you could not even look up and see where you were going and the water was over our shoes) it was just not worth it.

I vote for ....2017...I took my daughter in June when she was about 16 months old, and it was not an easy trip. Hot!! Crowded!! Baby didn't care much about Disney...

We're going over Labor Day this year with our 7yo, 18mo, and 4mo (along with 3 grand parents, an aunt/uncle). I think with breaks, fans, water to drink and water to play, you'll probably be fine in either month.

On a side note, it probably also depends on where you're from. It seems like people from colder/drier climates have a bigger problem with the heat/humidity.

People do live in climates like that with babies during summer months, so as long as you use common sense about breaks, water, shade, etc everyone will be fine. Having a newborn in August in NYC with no ac and living at the top of a walk up was much worse than walking around a theme park! But I'd vote June just because August/September means the heat feels worse because you're so sick of it (not sure where you live though). I'm in Georgia and I forget how awful 90-temps are for some people.

I'd say August in your case - simply because there can be quite a bit of difference between a 10 month old and a 12 month old! Weather won't be THAT different.

We took our 13 month old in early September, so same weather as August. Even with 2 fans on her stroller, a mister fan, great sun shade, light weight clothes, and lots of cold water she got overheated a few times and was cranky hot a lot. We had fun, but spent most of our time making sure she wasn't gettig Heat stroke and looking for places to rest. We both decided we would never go at that time of year with another small child that couldn't communicate their needs.
