Hello all,

Been lurking on this wonderful forum for a few weeks now while I plan our family trip to Disneyland in June. We had a great time last year in late June so we are going again!!!

My daughter gets out of school first week of June so we like to hit the park before the rest of the schools let out. It appears LA Unified School District doesn't let out until late June.

I'm torn between visiting DL on these two dates. Right now I'm booked for June 8-9 for an early jump in June but now I'm leanings towards June 11-12 because Socal is blacked out those days.

Which do you think would be the better days in terms of smaller crowds?

Monday & Tuesday, June 8 & 9

OR

Thursday & Friday, June 11 & 12
*Socal blacked out

I'm eliminating Wednesday June 10th because that is a grad night.

Thanks!

Monday and Tuesday even if you do get more hours on Friday. On Friday all the locals come after work and stay late for Fantasmic if it is running, evening parade if there is one, and fireworks. Even on the slowest days you find Friday night to be the most crowded weekday. Grad night is ok if you do not mind the 9PM closure. Everyone leaves and then the kids come in.

I agree with Church. Monday and Tuesday would be less crowded I would think. Also, the blocked out day for SoCal APs means they are anticipating bigger crowds on those days.

On this one, I'm going to have to disagree with the others and advise you to do the 11-12.

Why - very good rumor has it that they are probably going to be premiering the new fireworks on that weekend. That means no fireworks earlier in the week. You have a better likelihood of seeing a soft opening of it closer to the actual weekend.

Yeah, but OP wanted to know when there would be the least crowds. If the new fireworks show is that weekend (or soft opening before the weekend) then it might be more crowded because of that too. If fireworks are a priority for OP then, yes 11-12 would be a good idea but I got the impression that crowds were the deciding factor.

I agree with Peach. If one wants to face a herd of people out to see the new fireworks and do not mind crowds on Friday night during the Summer then go for it. If you want smaller crowds then Monday and Tuesday are better.

I vote for the 8,9th
less crowded schools are not out yet. Earlier in the week is better if you only have a couple days :thumbsup2
Enjoy your trip it'll be great whenever you decide! :)

Thank you all for the insightful replies. Each one is really appreciated.

My priority this time is to go when there are smaller crowds. That way we hope to get on some of the more popular rides we missed out last year due to excessive wait times. In the 2 days last year, I think we only took in about 8 rides and a few shows. My kids are 5 and 3 so we are a bit slow through the park.

I love to be able to see the fireworks and fantasia but I'll trade that for smaller crowds this time.

So I'll keep our dates June 8th and 9th. It's going to be a long 2 month wait to feel that "magic" again! Thank you.

To the OP - Most important is to choose what is right for you in the end. :thumbsup2

I figured I would throw out a bit of special information, (one that the OP might not have known about) as you never know who is willing to make a trade-off for what. Sometimes finding out about an extra cool experience is worth fighting the extra crowd for. I've done some very cool things at Disney because of that and I wouldn't want to deprive anyone else of a chance for that same kind of experience!
