June 8, 2010 WONDERful 5 Day Key West Cruise

Happy Friday Cruise friends!! :goodvibes
I just posted some pictures on the Shutterfly site! We are starting to get really excited! I have actually thought about packing too but I am sure I won't start until the week before. It is going to be 85 here in Chicagoland over the weekend...maybe I can practice wearing shorts!! You know how those winter white legs look! School is winding up (or down?) but Megan still has finals coming up so she is stressed!!! Thank goodness we have the cruise to look forward to! Have a great weekend everyone! :goodvibes

with so many school activities I have had little time to come here, but am getting excited. I hope they have Prince of Persia for movie night in the theater. With the shorter cruises and no entertainers I wonder what there will be to do in the evening. I am not a fan of Toy Story the Musical-so will skip that. we have seen the others except for Once Upon a Song so wish they would change the shows up more often, but will see Dreams and the golden Mickeys again anyway.
Is anyone doing the conch train or trolley?

they are calling it Dress Up night and it is on the sea day from what I was told.
Hope Megan and Brandon keep in touch. It helps a lot to know someone to start with.
Thanks Mandy!!

Just looked at the shutterfly site - great pictures! I will post some tonight or tomorrow (I am at work and I can't do it from here).

Also just was reading some of the older posts on this thread...so they don't consider it to be an actual "formal night" on the sea day Thursday, right? I guess somewhere I saw it called Formal- optional, which I guess is what I thought it was. I have heard that the 3/4 day cruises were more casual than the 7 night cruises, but I didn't know exactly what to expect on this one. I don't care either way, but we will probably will dress up - no tux for DH though.

Thanks again!!!

There will not be a character breakfast on the 5-Night sailings. The dining rotations and shows will be as follows (schedule may be subject to change) -

this is the infor mation I received on shows etc
great info! So, I have PALO 2nd night, so it looks like I will miss one restaurant no matter what rotation I get. :rolleyes1

any big difference between the trolley and the train?

I have been wondering what we would do in Nassau too...wish we could do Atlantis but can't afford Disney's prices and Comfort Inn only has suites (last I checked) for $400+ a night to get the wristbands. Any suggestions on something inexpensive there? Is it worth it just to go to Atlantis to see the hotel/casino? (I know you have to pay for everything else) I hate to get off the ship and just wander..with no real plan. Megan also wants to parasail...which is better for that - Key West or Nassau? (she doesn't want to do it at CC) I guess I have to spend some more time researching the port activities on my own. ...we are...counting the minutes!!!!

Beth A. from what we understand the difference between the trolley and the train in Key West is you can get on and off the trolley at various locations but you need to buy the tickets from them, Disney's tickets we understand do not allow for getting on and off the trolley. We did the trolley tour in Washington DC and it made getting around really easy.

 Good morning guys, it's 5am here in the UK and I'm watching the Lost finale. I can't wait to find out how it finishes

Have a great Monday everyone :)

My DH and I are planning on doing the parasailing at CC. Is there a reason that you don't like it there? I didn't know of anywhere else that offered it.

Good morning all! Sorry I am not a Lost fan Manday, but I watched Bret Michaels win Celebrity Apprentice! Yay! :cool1: It's kind of a dumb show, but it sucked me in this time, maybe because of the drama with Bret's illness, etc. Anyway, I was glad he won. :thumbsup2

Oh, back to what I was responding to.... DD doesn't want to parasail at CC because she wants to hang out with friends (who needs mom and dad!) and there's plenty to do there. We have already been to Key West so we thought parasailing might be fun for something different. I googled it and there are places to do it there. I have to do still more research...also thought of renting one of those electric cars. Still not sure about Nassau...what are you guys doing on Nassau?

We didn't book any excursions for Nassau either. The only one we wanted (beach day at Blue Lagoon? can't exactly remember right now), was already sold out. :sad2:

Since this is our first cruise, we thought we might just have more fun staying on board and enjoying the ship(I was trying to talk my DH into the rum tasting or the cigar rolling class- but he's a no go for either). The kids are just excited about the cruise, although they would love to do an aquarium. We just don't like the price of that excursion.

We watched Lost too! A couple of unanswered questions and left out characters, but all in all, wrapped up nicely.

We haven't got any plans for Nassau. We will probably disembark to take some photos and may pop to the Hard Rock Cafe, but not much else :)

It was great to see some of the characters that we haven't seen for a while, and I had a tear in my eyes a couple of times when the characters started remembering each other. I thought it had a great ending ::yes:: Unfortunately after getting up to watch it at 5am this morning, I am sooooo tired now, roll on bedtime :)

Brandon has parasailed at CC and had nocomplaints about it.

For the train/trolley in KW we won't be getting off- my mom has trouble walking so we are just on for the ride-thanks

My Aunt and I are Parasailing in Key West because we found a place that will fly you for like $40 so we decided to go there instead of CC, I was originally planning on doing it at CC but since the both of us could fly for about the same price of one through Disney we decided to go with that. I think mom and Schyler are going to walk around and shop. I didn't know that they had parasailing at NAssau I'm sure that would be beautiful. Schyler and I are doing the dolphin swim that day at Blue Lagoon and mom and Aunt Kelli are doing the beach day.
