Hello everyone!!

Well a lot of first for me... First time I come to this forum, fist time I post, first time on a cruise, fist time traveling alone with my two daughters!!! I have to tell that I am anxious and a little nervous. I'm from Puerto Rico, so my English is not so good. But I need this trip so much... I hope to meet you all on boad!!!

Hey Guys, what are you up to this weekend ? Are you doing anything nice ? It's a Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, so no work on Monday Hubby and I are having a shopping day away. We're going to Manchester tomorrow and staying over. We're hoping to do a little shopping (not that I need much for my holiday ), have a few TGI cocktails, then go out for a Chinese meal in the evening

Everyone's posts are making me even more excited than I already am. We are SOOO looking forward to our first Disney Cruise (1st cruise ever).

Any good tips you guys can pass on? How early should we get to the port?

I'm curious...is anyone participating in the formal night on board? My hubbie is excited to wear his Air Force Mess Dress on board. I sure hope we won't be out of place.

There isn't a proper Formal Night like on the longer cruises Kellie, though there is a Dress Up night. We always like make an effort for dinner anyway (hubby usually wears a nice shirt and trousers - no tie or jacket) and I've bought a lovely dress for Dress Up night and our evening in Palo

Is anyone else thinking of wearing gowns or tux's on our cruise ?

Oh well...our schedules and finances didn't allow for us to go on a 7-night or longer cruise with an official formal night, so we'll just be decked out in a gown/tux on the Dress Up night.
So when you see the oddballs in formal attire, you'll know it's us.

Sadly we've never been lucky enough to have a Formal Night either. Have you already got your gown ? What's it like ?

I'm really looking forward to getting glammed up onboard, I don't get the opportunity to get dressed up much at home

I happened to be walking through a store last week and they were having a 75% + extra 50% off sale in the evening wear section (all the school formals just ended-so plenty of choices). I couldn't beat a long black (very 40's vintage-inspired style) gown for under $40.
My husband always wants to wear his formal military attire (I think he just likes to hear the medals clanking around).

And I happened to have a son that absolutely loves to dress up (he's realized early what the girls go for- a man in a suit and tie).
Although, typically I'm sweats,t-shirts, and make-up free all the time. But we are so looking forward to a chance to actually dress-up on a vacation.

Fancy clothes, lots of food, and a dirty martini will make for a fantastic night aboard!

I think it's great that your hubby and son like to get dressed up, and I'm sure you're very proud when he's dressed in his formal military attire

Can't wait I'm really excited I will be traveling with 2 of my nieces(purtyburtney) and my sister (auntyaba). Ready to Celebrate my First cruise EVER!!:My niece will be graduating from College in a few days she's going to be our first teacher in the family. Congrats to Britt. If anyone has any 1st time cruzin suggestions let me know.

I don't know if there is any difference with the xray/metal detectors for cruise ships, but traveling on flights with laptops is no problem. You just have to take it out of it's travel bag to send it thru the xray machine. We do it all the time.

We always travel with a laptop and we've never had any problems
