June 8, 2010 WONDERful 5 Day Key West Cruise

We are already talking about when we can do our next one (would love to do that 15 day panama canal brining the Wonder back west to CA - but not sure we can swing one that soon).

I looked at the Panama Canal one too, but not only would it be really quick to swing paying for it, it's during school. Becka, my 18 year old, apparently had an interesting history lesson on Panama Canal and was like, "We could really go there?" And then I found dates and said not as long as we're all in school. :rotfl:

Well, we're finally back after doing the B2B and some days at WDW.

We too missed the meet though we walked by. Didn't see anyone there so figured we were too late for it.

I think we got the updated room as we waited till later in the cruise to do the FE and so we saw the change on the FE gift we got :)

We had a blast on the cruise and in large part this was thanks to ksloane. As luck would have it we ended up sitting together at dinner (what are the odds of that??) and our daughters hit it off wonderfully. They played a lot together and Hannah was soooo incredibly sad the last night. She misses Cameron a lot!

I didn't care much for Key West, though the butterfly farm there was very nice (much nicer than the one on St Thomas and St Maarten).

I'm trying to scan in the navigators but I need to install some more software. Once I find it I will hopefully get them up.

Jim

We enjoyed meeting you guys too. Still can't believe how small of a world that we ended up sitting together. Cameron has 2 responses when anyone asks about the cruise: Flubber and Hannah (we actually saw you twice at Pop we thought but you were too far away to get your attention). :-) Ahh, and occasionally Castaway Cay. If they want to know anything else, they have to ask detailed questions...

We got back from Disney on the 22nd (did 8 nights at WDW after the cruise)..had to leave on the 23rd to take Becka to Corpus Christi (6 hour drive) for Freshman Orientation at A&M. Got home yesterday and am so ready to just be home! :-)

Castaway Cay was for sure my favorite port. I actually liked Key West more than Nassau. We did not do any scheduled activities at any port though and that might be why. We just wondered around and explored without having to be aware of any times except when to be back on ship. We'll add in a few next time, but probably not every port. I really liked that freedom.

Hand wrote trip reports..haven't even found that spiral yet. :rotfl: When I do, will type them up.

We rebooked a dummy date, as we haven't decided for sure when to go again. We had originally thought next summer, August, for Cameron's birthday, but then thought new destinations would be nice and of how hot it is in August so I'm not sure yet....Thinking now maybe a Thanksgiving or Christmas cruise next year.

Hi Mandy,
I've been reading along, too. What lovely photos of the Wonder in the dark!

Great trip report Mandy!:thumbsup2 I am so sorry we didn't get to meet you, especially as it looks like we were pretty much everywhere you were. We had the same dining rotation and walked to the Southernmost Point on KW day. We were set up very near the Cove Cafe on sea day, and my DD and I had high tea at Palo on Sea Day. You can see my daughter and me in the picture of Paul at Palo--we were 2 tables behind you! How funny!
Great pics too! It takes a lot of dedication to take the pics and do the report, so we salute you!

Mandy and Paul we just came across your links to your trip report we are enjoying reading them. I was great to meet the two of you and now we can relive our cruise threw your reports. just a question are you writing this all from memory or did you keep notes threw out your Holiday (Vacation)
