June 5 to June 24: Barcelona to Dover AND First Baltic cruise BACK 2 BACK CRUISERS

Good Morning Cruisers! Where is everyone?

It snowed all day yesterday, and was not windy, so the snow actually covers the ground, instead of the normal - bare ground with snow drifts! It was really pretty yesterday watching it fall. The Christmas lights look really good in the snow! I am having a good time this morning watching the sparrows and finches in the bird feeder. I may even find the energy to clean the walks, the snow is really light. The high today will be 14 degrees, but without wind, that should not be bad. Tomorrow the wind is coming back, and although it will be clear and warmer, the forecast is for "blowing snow".

I am still coughing too much for major exercise, the snow shoveling will be enough. Hopefully by the weekend I will be well enough for a long walk, the weather is supposed to be decent, at least warmer and clear, over the weekend.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Lynn - sorry I kinda fell off the planet, had 9 assignments due the last 3 weeks of class.

We had snow yesterday - about 8 inches here in Northeast NJ. I get a kick our of how many "ninnies" there are on the roads. It took me 45 minutes to make a 15 minute drive last night, since everyone has their underwear tied in knots over the "road conditions". I would LOVE to see how these ninnies would deal with what you get!!!!

I will see if I can take a few pictures, you guys will howl at the silliness of how people park and try to drive. SUV stands for "stupid utility vehicle" according to my hunny :)

Made it home from Detroit,

Cold and windy here, trying to get warm, watching Christmas movies today.

Good Morning Cruisers,

It was cold here over the weekend, should be warmer today, but it is cloudy, no wind so far though. I have a PT appt this morning, so will go for walk with dogs this afternoon.

I am ready to pull up the suitcases from the basement and start packing for our trip to WDW in Jan., but the "packing room" is currently the "Christmas present wrapping room"

We are basically ready for Christmas, Scott has Friday off also, so he is really excited about that. Christmas Day will be the nicest day this week, at least as it looks on the forecast now. I do not think we will have a white Christmas, but that is normal for here.

Cayla - we do not get enough snow here, and this is not a tourist area, but I can relate to bad drivers from Jackson - there, were there was alot of snow, and alot of tourists, drivers either drove like roads were dry, or drove at 3mph! Hope you got all of your assignments done!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Cruisers!

Hope everyone had a great holiday! We had a great one - Christmas day was a very nice day and we both enjoyed a long run(Scott) and walk(me). Great food, great presents!

Have a great day!

I finally have a break (only a few hours actually!) to wish everyone a happy, healthy and Disney filled 2009!

Good Morning Cruisers!

Just a bump to get us off of page 3.

Cold and windy here today - so what is new?

Have a great day!

Cayla - are you still alive out there?

Scott and I are back from WDW, we were there for the Marathon weekend, we were both doing our first Marathon, Scott made his first into a Goofy! We both accomplished our goals, to finish our races. Scott did a really good job, he walked the 5K with me, then had another partner to keep him controlled on the 1/2 marathon, and he finished the full in good time. I finished the marathon in 07:07:02, but there were alot of folks behind me, the second half was really tough for me, I am going back to 1/2 marathons, Scott is going Goofy again next year!

Beautiful sunrise this morning - amazing colors!

Have a great day!

Hey everyone - I have finally fallen back on the planet (sort of). Between working 2 full time jobs, going to school, and trying to just survive the dis fell off the radar.

Relief is in sight. I have reservations at WDW in March for 5 days. Then it is back to the grind....

I will go back and read to see if there are any new additions to this cruise - then I will add them to the list.

Thanks for keeping the homefires burning...I will be around once in a while.

Cayla

Cayla, I don't think you have missed much on this thread, none of the B2Bers are posting! I am glad that you are still doing this one, I don't blame you for dropping the 3 night! I know there are more of us on this than have posted, maybe as we get closer, it will be a busier thread. Don't run yourself into the ground!

I think this thread is a quieter group than the TA was - but I am glad that some are still reading it. I agree, as we get closer this should pick up a bit. I seem to recall that the 1.5 year mark on the TA wasn't overly busy either. In a couple of months we can start counting it by weeks instead of years :)

Also, I am sure that people are just thinking about the costs, the economy is not exactly friendly to travel right now.

We decided to drop the 3 day, because we really like the longer cruises, and the days at sea. B2B in and out of Florida, just didn't appeal to us. We are negotiating the 7 day eastern now - dates are the issue. School starts the Tues after Labor Day, and that makes the timing tough. I don't know which class I will be taking in the fall yet, and without knowing the meeting date (of class) it makes it REALLY hard to plan anything. I should be able to fix the day of the week before April, then we will plan more.

As of now - off to WDW for 5 days at the end of March, then nothing. Not really sure what the fall will bring. I may go for the pin event in June, but I am undecided as of now.

I am sure we will cross paths at WDW or sooner than the cruise!

Cayla,
We will be back at WDW in October, 22nd - 31st I think - it is Scott's birthday trip - as well as the Tower of Terror 13K race. Other than that, we will be in Disneyland over Labor Day for the 1/2 marathon there, we are doing that 3 day cruise - 10th Wonder Anniversary, plus the 4 day prior (that will be our first B2B cruise), and Sept 22 we are going to Advertures by Disney Peru (adults only) trip.

In the meantime, you and I can keep this thread going until the others finally decide to join us!

Lynn - let me know what you think of the ABD trip - I am very loosely looking at the Costa Rica trip. It most likely won't be until 2011 at the earliest, but I am wondering how it works in a country where English really isn't spoken. When we did the ABD we were in Austria, Czech Republic, and Germany - English is spoken by most folks and we had no trouble at all.

I am looking forward to a trip report!

Cayla

Good Morning Cruisers!

Cayla - I will be sure that you get our trip report from Peru.

Do you know where you are staying in Barcelona before the cruise? I know it is early to think about it, but everyone on the Baltic thread are talking about Dover, which is making me think about Barcelona.

Have a great day!

I haven't really given it much thought. The hotel we stayed at the last time was really nice. I am hoping for something as nice. I am using a travel agent (can't say name here....) and I have a wild flight plan dreampt up.

Leave NYC for Heathrow (round trip ticket)
Heathrow to Barcelona (one way ticket)
after the cruises
Heathrow to Paris (round trip)
3 days at Disney Paris
Return to Heathrow for the second half of the round trip to NYC.

I figured out it is acutally cheaper to do it this way than to book from NYC to Barcelona, Heathrow to Paris, Paris to NYC. GO figure....

I figure I will arrive in Barcelona a day or two early. I really want to get to the "gaudi park" we just didn't have time enough the last trip.

The city is so beautiful.

I figure I will contact the TA in a couple of months to work out the air and hotel stuff on paper - then let them churn on the when to book it stuff.

I will use DVC to book Paris, so I will only need the transfers from the airport to the resort.

My real concern is luggage. I know the Heathrow to Barcelona I may be restricted to ONE bag - no carry on and a smaller bag at that. Same for Paris round trip. So - once I know that I will be able to plan the packing a bit. Since it is Disney - I know I can do wash and take fewer clothes. I so overpacked the for the trans atlantic cruise.

This trip I figure I will get away with a lot less. Maybe a larger carryon that can be checked...not sure yet.

Good Morning Cayla!

We are planning some touring before and after the cruises, the plans now are to fly into maybe Frankfurt (cheaper and Hadley and Dave - NHdisneylover are now there and have offered to show us around) - get a Eurorail pass for Germany, France and Spain - get at least to the Normandy coast of France. Get back and forth from England, which ever way we need to go, by train or ferry. We have not spent much time on this yet, we are concentrating on Peru right now, after our trip there, we will concentrate on what we want to do in Europe.

I did love the Gaudi stuff in Barcelona, and would not mind revisiting some of the stuff - the park was great. I am really glad we did that tour, I am not sure we would have seen as much on our own.

For luggage, we are going light - we found good backpack/rolling duffles that will be our checked bags, and a daypack type bag for carryon. We will only have the international flights, so hopefully we will not have the problem with "no carryon". We are planning on trains for transportation once we get there.

Have a great day!
