June 5,2010 Relocation Cruise

I'm not on your sailing, I'm going to be taking the Magic back to Barcelona in July. However, maybe someone here can help me. Does anyone know anything about private tours of the Normandy battlefields from Cherbourg? DCL has 2 available, but my experience has been that private is better and usually cheaper. Feel free to PM or e-mail me, or post here and I'll keep checking in.

smaller turkey legs, sucky donuts, no mickey bars, bad steaks.......
even despite all that we're going to have a great time and in exactly 1 week (168 hours!!) the novotel party bus will have been and gone and its terminal party time!!!

Hi

Thought you may like this for your door.......

Jordak on the Magnets Boards has done it for us. Be great for the door.

Hope you are all well. Not done a thing today, been at school doing stuff as it was the last day of term, so lots of fun.

Had great intentions to clean the house and sort out clothes, but hey, lifes too short!!!

Have a great evening.

Kate

Kate and Jordak - Thanks so much for sharing this - it is AWESOME. I printed it out on photo paper to put on our door. We are so excited - this will be our third Disney Cruise, but the other 2 were in the Caribbean. We can't wait to get to Barcelona and start the fun.

We also are new to these boards and so glad we found them. Are you guys meeting anywhere on the ship at all?

:cool1:

Arghhh,

We are leaving on Thursday and I just realized that I forgot to go to the bank and order euros. The banks around here do not stock foreign currency and you have to order it. With Monday being a holiday if I go in on Tuesday and order I will probably not get them by Thursday when we leave. I plan on using my debit or credit card but would like to have a few hundred euros to by snacks or other little things. Anyone know what the exchange rate is on board to get some?

If your airport has a Travelex exchange location, you can download a $0 exchange fee coupon from their website. That often makes the rate decent if you are just changing enough to travel.

Hi cruisers, we are checking in from Normandy, we arrived here today for a three day tour - our own tour. We did not have free wifi in London, so no playing on the boards. we will see you all shortly in Barcelona.

Forget my previous post. I totally forgot that I can get some euros at the airport. Not the best exchange rate but need a few in my pocket for the trip. See everyone in less than a week!

Hello and welcome. If you have questions feel free to ask. Most of us have cruised before on DCL.

Hi Adrianna,
Thanks for your message. Could you please provide us some information regarding the cost of non alcoholic beverage in bars on board. And what are the "mickeys bars" ?
We've no patience anymore. We want to be on 5.06 ;-)

Mickey Bars are the Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream bars that you can only get at Disney World and on DCL. If I remember correctly they are vanilla ice cream dipped in crunchy chocolate.

Almost all non-alcoholic drinks on board are free with a few exceptions. If you order a soda or juice in a bar there is usually a charge and there is a charge for espresso drinks in the Cove Cafe. In restaurants and from the large self-service drink fountain on Deck 9, they are free.

This will be our third cruise on DCL in three years and we keep coming back! I hope that you have an amazing time. Are you bringing children as well?

HI!
We are living in Brussels now but we come from the South of the country, french part of Belgium.

Alors, Bienvenue! I loved visiting Belgium when I worked at Disneyland Paris (11 years ago). I had a Belgian roommate when I first got there and so I got a personal tour of his hometown (Oostende) as well as Antwerp and Brugge. Loved it!!

As for non-alcoholic beverages...they are free at all meals, they are free at the drink station on deck 9 all day. The only time you pay is if you have one from a bar or room service. I think most people hop up to Deck 9 and bring the free ones whereever they want to go. If you do end up purchasing one, I don't remember it being terribly expensive...but more expensive than free.

Hope that helps.

hi everyone!
i've just got back from the shift from hell. 10 hours of a bad combination of public holiday weekend, first day of kids holidays, day after payday, and nowhere near enough staff. i am soooo tired, my feet and my back are killing me, and i stupidly agreed to work tomorrow too. so out of a 3 day weekend, i'm working every single day :(
the only thing thats kept me sane all day is keeping thinking that in one week i'll be back on the magic and this will all be a bad memory, even if only for one week!

So...if all goes according to plan...in exactly 24 hours I will be in the air heading out of Texas on my way to Paris. So now I just need to Non-Rev Gods to smile and let the seats stay open. It is going to be tight!

Sorry to hear. Just seven more days and we'll all be relaxing. Are you in the tourism industry also?

Hello everyone,

We're also sailing on the June 5th relocation cruise (but flying in a day early to Barcelona to try to avoid the worst of the jet lag). I hope it's not too late to introduce ourselves and join you all--I've been reading this thread for a while but computer problems prevented me from logging in to post a message until now.

We're the Hughes family: I'm Krista, my husband is James, and our three children are Jamie (James, 12), Kira (11), and Ian (5). This will be our third Disney cruise, but our first time on the Magic and our first European cruise. It will also be Ian's first airplane ride and his first time in the Oceaneer's Club (he was 1 and 2 years old respectively at the time of our previous cruises). Ian is autistic and we're a bit worried about how much he'll be able to join in on at the kids' programs. We're hoping for the best.

We'll be celebrating 3 happy events on the cruise: our 15th wedding anniversary (June 3rd!!!), my husband's promotion to full professor (he's a college math professor), and my recovery from Hodgkin's Lymphoma (my last chemo was July 2009).

We'll be staying at the Hilton Diagonal Mar in Barcelona; wish we were going to be at the Novotel since we have fond memories of the Novotel in Windsor, England. Our stateroom number is 8532. I'm frantically trying to make up door decorations now--can anyone help me with making up graphics? I want to have at least one with our wedding picture but I'm not sure how to get text over the picture.

I can't wait to get onboard the Magic and to see everyone!

We fly into BCN on Monday, then it's time for some R&R before the party :banana:begins on the Magic.
I will try and be more active...it has been a hard work week.
Everyone, safe travels!!!

So...if all goes according to plan...in exactly 24 hours I will be in the air heading out of Texas on my way to Paris.

fingers crossed for you, will you be on the net after you fly out? let us know if you got there ok :)

oh btw: where did we decide the 10.30 meet the first night was? thinking its really gotta either be studio sea or promenade lounge, as otherwise the kids wont be allowed to come along.

Are you in the tourism industry also?

i used to, but now i work at the disney store, it was just crazy busy yesterday :( hoping today and tomorrow might be a bit quieter

ah! that brings back memories - seems like some things dont change at TDS.
not long now 'till you will be partying!!!!!!:dance3:

Good luck with the flight hope everything goes according to plan.
I'd just like to say a big thanks for the FE list it will be a great help:flower3:

Today I really must try and get my head around the packing - now where do I start?:laundy: so much to do so little time.................................

It's funny what we remember from past cruises....I am bringing nylon zip ties(wire ties) for all with FE's so board "tweeners" will not think it is cute to take FE's off of the ones that have them.
It has happened in the past to our fellow DISer's.

We are going to have a Magical time meeting all of our soon the be new friends.
Safe Travels to all!!!!!!!
