June 4th-5th help please

Hey fellow Disney fans! This message board is so awesome, I love finding people who are as obsessed with Disney as me. I could totally use some expert help with a double-birthday trip I'm planning for me and my bf. We're arriving at Disneyland Saturday morning, June 4th and staying at the Grand Californian for two nights, departing Monday morning the 6th. I really want the trip to be as magical as possible, but I know we're going at a kind of crazy time, with the two new rides opening the day before we arrive. I would be so grateful for any strategies or tips you have for how we can make the most of our two days at the parks and get to experience as much as possible (including the new rides!) without waiting in awful lines, or dealing with crowd dramas at the parades and shows. A few details worth noting:

- We are not extreme riders at all- the most intense rides we're doing are Indiana Jones and Star Tours. So we'll be able to skip lines for all the roller-coasters and rides like Matterhorn, Space Mountain, ToT, etc.

- We're driving to Anaheim from Los Angeles that first morning and because of the fairly long drive, we unfortunately won't be able to arrive at the Disneyland park gates early. But what we can do is get to CA Adventure by its 10am opening or just before, and start there. We could try for the Extra Magic Hours morning the next day, if enough rides are open for it to be worth the painfully early wake-up call!

- We did the Fantasmic VIP seating last year (loved it!) so we can skip that show this year, but we definitely want to do fireworks one night and a World of Color reserved seating package the other night.

Skipping all the best stuff. You shouldn't have many problems.

Get a FP for Star Tours early.

Thank you! I hope we're not missing ALL the best stuff, lol! Unfortunately my stomach just can't handle the big drops in roller-coasters and wild rides- I'm already pretty nervous about Indy! But there are plenty of rides I'm crazy about, like Soarin and Toy Story Mania, etc.

I just found out about the FPs for hotel guests, so planning to use those for Star Tours and Little Mermaid- hopefully that will help us avoid long lines!

- Do most of the fantasyland rides during MM on Sunday (yes, you'll need to get up early). See DLR29's excellent MM superthread for info & ride order.

- Use your location at the GCH for mid afternoon breaks. Get wet on Griz rapids prior to your break (if inclined).

- If it was me (with only two days). I'd start both days at DLR & hop mid morning to DCA (& then you'll be steps from your mid day break at the GCH). The late afternoon & evening would be dependent on what you will be doing at night.

- FP isn't AS important for you (since many of these are wilder E ticket rides)...but you should consider them for BTMRR, Soarin & maybe Star Tours & Griz Rapids.

- But what IS important is identifying the slow loading rides you WILL be riding & trying to ride most of them early.
