June 4 2005 West Coast Cruisers

Our thoughts are that DVC value is great if you are going to stay at one of their DVC properties (Walt Disney World, Hilton Head, Vero Beach). If that is what you plan to do I would highly recommend it. Otherwise the value (after considering the annual fees) is so so. We found that to use DVC points and cash for the cruise we were actually losing money over what it costs to book the cruise itself. Hence our reason for selling.

That's kind of what we were thinking. We probably wouldn't be vacationing in the DVC properties so I wasn't sure if it was worth it or not. Dizneykids would you agree with this: That to obtain the best value you must be using the DVC properties?

Good evening ladies!!! River our beardie is fine. Vet gave us antibiotics (just what we need more pharmaceuticals in our home) and that is that. :cool1:

Hey do you guys remember bearjon from a long time ago. They were a family of four going on the cruise? Well I got an email from him with a picture of myself and Dane, Sherry and Pam, Liz and Janese all standing at sailaway       on deck 10. It is awesome and I will email it to all. It is a cool vantage point. Looks like someone hanging off the ship took it. The funniest part about all of it is that his name is Jon and his wife's name is Cynthia and my exboyfriends name was Jon and his wife is Cindy so I had a moment of sheer panic thinking that "my" Jon was on our cruise and I did not even notice. :rotfl: :rotfl: I think its a different one.

Mindy, yes thank you I did eventually get it fixed not until the next day. I don't know what was wrond but once the real internet manager came back in I got a note under my door that it was fixed. Glitch I guess.

Mindy---it was so nice to have met you. I do hope you reconsider going with DCL again. I think we can all honestly say this is not their typical product. Please come visit us over here on the east coast and do a PC cruise. Weather is sunnier thus more deck time. I missed sitting out by the pool with the band playing while you swim drinks in hand, visiting with your family and friends, I REALLY REALLY missed Castaway Cay. It is gorgeous and noone selling anything on the beach!!!!!!!!! That is a great relaxing day. Can't wait to do that itinerary again. The product on the west was not bad----just different for what I enjoy.

Keep chatting with us so we can all have time to convince you.

So glad I can put a face with your name now. You were so kind. A friendly face amongst all the other late night computer gurus. Have a great day
Judy

Judy, the way you describe the east coast Disney cruises make it sound more tempting. We'll see over time if our two little ones (currently 4 and 2) will get more into the Disney characters and movies. As it was on the Mexican Riviera Disney cruise every time we got near one of the non-princess characters our kids would be scared... Oh well, perhaps they just weren't exposed enough before the trip...

Mindy, two things to keep in mind: go again while they are young enough to still have the "magic", and also it only gets tougher once the kids are in school. I bet by this time next year it will be a whole different story. BTW at our port DCL owns it so they have their own workers there and check in is easy and smooth. Usually you ae on the boat by 11:00 so you have the whole day to enjoy before the rush hits of boat drill, sailaway and dinner. Again that adds to the mood of a relaxing atmosphere.

xploring, we have been on three Disney cruises and my 9 year old has always been scared of characters that have "heads" on them. She is fine around Peter Pan, princesses, etc. She still enjoys the cruise and is looking forward to going again. I was really disappointed when we were younger as we generally go to Disney every year, but we have now kindof accepted it. She still loves the parks, just not the characters.

I'm glad our thread is continuing!! I like talking to all of you. Pam and I have almost a week of workdays in January. We're only in school teaching on a Tuesday and Wednesday. So odd!! So, we're getting subs and going to Disney World with our moms. Just a girls week at the World. What's the weather like in January? I've never been except in the summer. I won't know how to act without crowds and heat. :cool1:

How fun!!! January can go either way. At any rate its warmer than 90 percent of the nation. Just bring layers and you'll be fine. I hope we can see you guys. That would be fun.

Ellen---thank you for the cute pics of our daughters. I still need to look at ours.

I am sorry I haven't had the time to scan the picture of formal night yet. I will try to get to it this week.

You know, we've never used DVC for anything but DVC properties, so I can't say. We just booked our Fall Break trip to Hilton Head...Disney Magic at a different pace.

I love the idea of having the ability to go other, non-Disney, places, though. Probably after next year, when we're hoping to have a family reunion at WDW, we'll explore that option. Friends of ours use some of their points yearly to go to Hawaii. Considering the cost of condo-type accomodations (which is what you get), I think it is well worth the cost. If the current $98/point is a concern for y'all, contact ******** Crawford at DVCbyResell.com and explore a resell. The cost is typically much lower.

We love the flexibility of DVC and recommend it often. But it has to fit with your needs. If you'd like to explore it further, I'd recommend you contact one of the advisors. Frankly, the do NOT put on a high sales pitch or pressure. They can just help you with questions. Those on the cruise were Marc Turner (1-800-340-6419) or Amil Arroyo (1-800-827-1473).

Not to push, but the website I set up prior to the cruise will allow us to continue talking without having to search for our thread as I did tonight. Just a thought if y'all want to stay in touch as I do.

Ok fellow scrappers - share, share, share! I'd love to see your layouts. I've just started digital scrapbooking and I LOVE it - I may not go back to traditional. :)

Here's my pirate night page.

MousseauMob. That's wonderful! How did you get/make the back layout?

I scanned our menu from pirate night (well half of it - the are SO big), and then I removed the menu items with my imaging editing software, so it was just the map.

Here's my latest, these are pictures from Puerto Vallarta.

I'm going to do one about our dis group, I'll post it when I have it finished.

Ok here it is. Here's the dis page I did. I wanted to say more, but I'm not very good at journaling. :sad2:

I seem to have lost all of my cruise buddies!

You haven't lost us...we're all just temporarily missplaced!

Seriously, I love your pages. I'm beginning to think the only way I'll be able to scrapbook is digitally. What package do you use? Have you been doing it long? and do you print out 12x12 pages on one of the new printers or the standard 8.5x11?

On another note, I received a cool, new video from DVC. It includes basic info on the DVC, the Disney Collection and other places in the world you can use your points. To get a copy, go to dvcfriends.com to request a copy or call 800-840-3708.

I've just started doing this digitally. What amazes me is how fast and easy it is. I can do a page in a fraction of the time it would take me to do a traditional scrapbook page and I don't have to worry about having my supplies out and in the way - there's no mess. Also the undo button is WONDERFUL! Wish I had that in real life! :rotfl:

I'm in the process of an expirement with these pages. I've used MyPublisher.com for a couple of books - but they really only allow pictures and text. As long as you have good resolution digital pictures these look great! They also allow full bleed to edge for images - so I thought I would try scrapbooking my pages, saving them as high resolution images, then using MyPublisher to create the books. This way they are printed on quality paper and bound in a leather bound or canvas book. The software I'm using for the page layouts is Microsoft Digital Image Pro 10.0. I looked at Adobe Photoshop also. Although Photoshop is more powerful it's also harder to use, and I was instantly creating with MS Digital Image Pro. If you're looking into it, this website has some helpful info.

Thanks for the info on DVC, I'm going to get the video from the website.

I agree we aren't lost. I am still just trying to get my pictures developed, printed and organized. I love looking at your pages.

Are you planning to print them? If so, what size?

I'm doing them for MyPublisher.com so they are 12 x 9 in size.

So glad everyone isn't lost! :cloud9:

Mouseaumob-I'm here!!!!!! Been really busy lately...seems like it's non stop on the go since we got back from the cruise! I LOVE your scrapbook pages! They are great! I just barely got my pictures printed at costco..I never thought about scrapbooking on the computer...what a great idea!
