June 3rd 07 Anyone going???

I know you think you're going to rip the CROCS when you put in the jibbitz but you won't. Those shoes are tough. And you can take them in and out. I've moved mine around several times.
I'll look for Tink as well.

In Nassau we've booked a Comfort Suites room so we can do the pools/beach/and everything else at Atlantis. We figure this may be the one time in a long time we go --- so we just HAVE to see the place.
I hope we love it.

I'm starting to get excited. I've marked the calendar for March 20th--- my sign up date for PALO and excursions. I have to set the alarm for 2am!

How much is it to book a room at the Comfort Suites?

I had read about that. The pools look totally awesome. I didn't want to do the tour because the walking would kill me and she would not like it if she couldn't swim.

What should I do for the spa? Olivia acts like she might do the kids club but I don't know. I was going to sign her up March 20. Should I book an app't at the spa and if she won't go to the club for an hour I guess I will cancel the day before?

Hi all. I've subscribed to this thread but I'm not getting notified when there are new posts. I was surprised to see so many posts.

I am thoroughly computer-challenged, but I am going to try to post this article I found about Atlantis. Apologies if this turns out really weird . . . :surfweb:

Where is the Atlantis Resort, and what is it like?
The Atlantis Resort is a legendary and lavish property on Paradise Island, near Nassau in the Bahamas and just a hop from Florida. An amazing place prior to 2007, The Atlantis has added The Cove luxury lodgings, and the AQUAVENTURE waterpark.

Main features at The Atlantis:

With its expansion, The Atlantis now has a 97-acre "waterscape" with over 20 million gallons of lagoons, pools, waterfalls, and giant aquariums filled with sea creatures, all adding up to the "largest marine habitat in the world".

Giant Waterslides
Near the Royal Towers, the five-story Mayan Temple has a 60-ft. vertical drop ends in a clear tunnel inside a shark-filled lagoon, and a pair of Challenger slides where you can race your friends. In the expanded area of AQUAVENTURE, the 120-foot Power Tower, has four wild slides including "The Abyss": a near-vertical 50 feet drop through darkness, and two inner-tube slides where you can ride up a conveyor to the slide.

River Loop
AQUAVENTURE redefines the river-float experience. Get on your inner tube and ride all day: through lifts and drops, white-water Rapids, 80-foot underground tunnel and caves, and even up a conveyor to the giant waterslides, if you like. Read more about the AQUAVENTURE river ride.

More water play zones
Guests can variously enjoy a white-sand beach, multiple swimming pools, 7-acre lagoon with shallow entry (and kayaks and water toys), large kids pool with slide and waterfalls, baby pool, Splashers kiddie waterplay zone.

The Dig and giant aquariums
The Atlantis has some of the largest tanks full of sea life in the world, and you can get a subterranean view at The Dig, an Atlantis-themed maze of chambers.

Other Atlantis features: giant casino, eye-popping glass sculptures, wide choice of restaurants, spa, and Marina Village with shops and restaurants. (Click for a tour.)

What's special about the Atlantis Resort for families?
Ripples kids' pool is a large area with slides, waterfalls, other fun features, and ample room for loungers for parents; there's a second smaller baby pool as well
Splashers water play zone is for kids under 48", with slides, dumping bucket, squirters, etc.
Gentle Travel for families with babies: a special kit with night-light, lullaby CD, baby care products, and tips about keeping baby's routine while traveling; Prompt Response hot-line; and more.
Chow time: kids will enjoy feeding time at the Predator and other lagoons.
Atlantis' Kids Clubhouse: Morning Escape for ages 3 to 5 (- kids might stage a Junkanoo parade, learn how to play an instrument, or visit the resort’s Fish Hospital).
Discovery Kids Adventure, for ages 6 to 12: designed in conjunction with The Discovery Channel. Evening Escape: nightly from 6 to 10 p.m., with movies, games, dancing, for ages 3 to 12.
Club Rush has dance floor, movies, videogames and is open early evening for kids 7 to 13, and later for kids 13 and up.
Tips for family visits to the Atlantis Resort:
the Atlantis grounds are large. Royal Towers are near the waterslides, and kiddie pool zone; Coral and Beach Towers are closer to the lazy river, and a considerable walk from the waterslides.
Harborside Villas (at the Atlantis Vacation Club) can accommodate larger families. A frequent shuttle takes guests the to the Atlantis proper. (Walking might take 10 minutes.)
Keep in mind about the Atlantis Resort:
expect that food is expensive; also, 15% gratuity is added at all restaurants. Families can pack some fruit leather and granola bars for kiddie munchies; buy refillable drinks; head to the Marina village for snacks at Starbucks and family restaurants; read visitor comments for other tips.
guests staying at the adjacent Comfort Suites have access to the Atlantis facilities including pools, lagoons, waterpark, casino, spa, kids' camp

Livvysmom,

Mickeymania found a good rate at the Comfort Suites - it's post #28 on the 2nd page.

Hi Guys! 85 days! Can you believe it? Who's getting excited? Anybody booked excursions yet? We have 70 degree weather here today, and flipflops on, won't be long before we pull out the shorts and start thinking about swimsuits :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I am working on my DD autograph book. I decided to make one. Watched the cheesy DVD again today. The steriods are starting to kick in some. So I try on the swimsuit I bought when I was out walking the mall. DEPRESSING!!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: If I don't shape up soon I may scare people!!! Anyway, we are getting pumped. The weather is warm here too. I am planning outfits in my head. DD is ready to go. We are foregoing any excursions I think. I just want to plant my feet on that boat!!!

85 DAYS!!!!! Will that ever get here?:cool1: :cool1:

Cool, grey, intermittent sprinkles all day, high probably in the 50's. Tomorrow our weather will change to heavier drizzle. WElcome to Portland in the winter. It's okay - I'll appreciate that beautiful Bahamas weather more than you guys!

I'm packing for my upcoming Carnival cruise tonight! I made final payment on the DCL cruise courtesy of Costco last week. :cool2:

I need to check out those jibbitz things! I've never heard of them until this board.

By the way, for all of you pirate fans, the trailer is premiering on March 19th on Dancing with the Stars. You know where I'll be that evening!:happytv:

Hey we are going June 3 07! First cruise! :woohoo: I have a DD (13) and she is exsited for the teen room (Aloft) but is worried she wont have anyone to hang out with. I keep telling her she will find friends...:confused3 ...If you have a teen worried about that too...good luck! :rotfl:

Welcome:welcome: ILoveGoofyGuys! Glad you found our thread! We have a 16year old DS and a 12 almost 13year old DS going. He will be six weeks from his 13th birthday when we cruise, so I don't think they will let him go in the teen group, but I don't know if exceptions are made because of having an older sibling. My kids didn't do alot of the clubs before on the 7 day, but they were younger. We are trying to make out final decisions this weekend about excursions, but basketball and hockey games are getting in the way:rotfl:

Thank you for your help!! :cool2: I hope everyone has fun on the June 3, 2007 Cruise! I know i will be having fun! :beach:

75 days to go!!!!!
This is the day to make your PALO, shore excursion and spa reservations if you're a first timer like me.
I made my reservations early, early this morning (3am) and really feel like the cruise will be here before we know it.
We're doing PALO dinner on our second night and the PALO brunch on our "at sea" day. :cool1:
We also tried to book the parasailing excursion and it is not available. :sad2: Problems with the vendor or something. I'm hoping it will be back up and running before June but I'm now coming up with a Plan B.

What did the rest of you do for reservations? I hope you got what you wanted.

YEAH!! I am glad to hear only 75 days until we all board the ship! I can't wait!! We haven't booked any reservations for Palos or excursions. I would love to do Palo, but I want to dine in the restaurants with the kids and I don't want to give up any shows to dine there either. I booked the brunch and then I cancelled it because I didn't want to feel that I need to "get ready" at mid-day to go eat.

The rest of my family is ready. My kids don't even want to get off of the ship while we are in Nassau. On our last cruise they got off and I think that was enough for them. They just love the clubs. My son, now 14, wants to do the bridge similator, but I think they will only let you do that up to age 12, do you know if they will let an older child do this? My daughter, 9 , really excited about the clubs too. Last time we had to make them spend time with us, HAHA!

DiznNut (and anyone else with 10-ish aged kids) I would love more info about the clubs!

My DS is 10, almost 11, and loves soccer, sports, video games, Star Wars, chess etc. Typical boy.

What kinds of activities are there for the 10-12 year old group? What is the bridge simulator? I read on a Navigator that the 10-12's get to go to ALOFT in the morning. What is that? Are there video game challenges? Can the kids go to the sports court anytime?

Thanks for all your help.

We are going to be on this cruise also. It is our first cruise and I am also a little nervous about some of the same things. I saw that there are a couple other 10-ish boys (mine's 9, almost 10) who are interested in the same things my DS1 is. He is a soccer nut, loves sports of all kinds, legos, and Star Wars. But I didn't see anyone around my DS2's age 7 (going on 17). He is into soccer, baseball, pirates, and army guys. Does anyone else have a 7ish guy going on this cruise?

Also, has anyone done the dolphin encounter in Nassau? We just made reservations and I want to know if it is worth it.

This is our first DCL so we haven't done the dolphin encounter. It sure sounds like a blast. We're planning to spend the day at the beach and pools at Atlantis. Figure this might be our one day to check it out.

Our sons might have alot of fun together. I'm sure your daughter will have no trouble finding lots of girls her age to play with.

Anyone doing door signs?

The dolphin encounter would be so much fun but my daughter is only 4. She is begging to do it but I know she would freak out if I took her on it. I think I may wait until next summer when we go on the Mexican Riviera.

We aren't doing any excursions this cruise. We sure sound boring don't we?! I did by her snorkel gear and we might try that out at CC.

I am just telling everyone now..... look away when I peel off the swimsuit coverup!!! I have given up! It ain't pretty and time is creeping up on me and so is the swimsuit in places it shouldn't be!!!:confused3

I don't think I am making a door sign. Who all is? I head back to school next week after being off for 8 weeks. I did get my daughter's autograph book made. That was impressive.

What is the countdown now?:cheer2:

68 Days!!!!! WooHoo!!!:cool1: We are still going back and forth about our excursions. With the bad news about the parasailing, we have had to rethink Castaway Cay. Might just look around on our own in Nassau. DH and older DS are leaving on Thursday for WDW so we are trying to finalize our choices before they take off. Know what you mean livvysmom :scared1:. Hope you are feeling better though.

Who does look good in a swimsuit??? ;)

My husband and I are on weightwatchers. It's working, but we both think our points will be off the chart while we're in DisneyWorld and on the cruise.

We've signed up for the stingray excursion and bike riding on CC. But now I'm hearing good things about the waverunners. Hmmmmm...

We haven't made our doors signs yet--- but it's on my long list of stuff to do.

Have ya'll been reading the "bed bug" thread? Yikes!

Bed Bugs! I'll have to catch up on my reading! I'm following some WW recipes too. Know how many points I should eat, but not really going to meetings. Have you tried the Classic Beef and Barley Soup in their newest cookbook? I also add corn to it. 5 points. I double the recipe and eat it all the time. Yummy and filling and has really helped to keep me on track.:)
