Did we decide on a Dis Meet? A long time ago we talked about 3:00on the secret deck 7 aft. Do we still want to meet there?

MickeyTeacher I hope everything goes great with your DD tomorrow. Let us know. I will be thinking about you guys. :goodvibes

I'm planning on being there with DH and DS. I am looking forward to putting faces with the DIS names. It has been fun chatting with everyone and being able to share the excitement with you all. Usually I get the "your talking about your cruise again" look from everyone else. I just can't help it, we have planned this trip for a year now and we are just so excited. I think I have finally bought everything we are going to need. Now I just have to figure out how to pack it into a few suitcases.

I so understand that look... I get it from everyone. The kids are super excited, last week of school, a week with grandma and grandpa and then the cruise- A child dream world!

Thanks for the postive thoughts tomorrow. I hope this cast is gone for good!

S :)

Good luck to your daughter tomorrow. I've never had a cast, but I can't imagine it's any fun.

Only one more full week to get ready. I just realized when I woke up this morning that there is only one weekend left for shopping/packing/cleaning my house. My little brother (21) will be house-sitting for me, and I really need to get the place cleaned up and hide anything I don't want him to stumble across. :)

It's so exciting!! My coworkers are wishing I'd just go already so they can quit hearing about it.

The boys and I will definitely be at the meet. 3:00 will give us plenty of time to eat lunch and check out the Mickey pool.

We made an insane amount of door signs yesterday afternoon. Has anyone else made any?

The girls have some for their room, DH and I have even MORE for ours. and we have one identical sign that will stay on both of our doors for the duration.

We are also planning on trying to make it to the Dis meet. I would love to put faces with names so we can at least say hi when we pass each other onboard. I am hoping and praying I don't end up with one of my infamous migraines. It could really put a major damper on the first day. For some reason I have a tendency to get them when I am really excited about something or I am dealing with a climate change. I am gonna do everything I can to keep that monster away.

Izza - We plan on lunch and the Mickey Pool also.

DVC Jen - I made door signs too -- I made several and used one magnetic 8x10 photo holder to put them in. I also used the Disney paint chips from Home Depot. They made great little magnets to scatter around the door. :cool1:

Mickeyteacher - Good luck with the cast. :)

ack it never fails. Every year just days before we leave for vacation something major happens. In just the past two trips we have had our air conditioner go out.. then last year my DH had something wrong with his foot. At first they thought it was gout.. then they thought he had a blood clot (thank goodness it wasn't). He was on very strong pain meds just so we could go. They did x-rays and didn't really find anything, but they think it was a very small fracture in his foot that wouldn't show up on the x-ray. It turned out OK.. and he was able to get around, but we were sweating it for a while.

Well.. Saturday we took my van in to get the 12,000 mile service done to it as well as getting it detailed. We always do this since we drive and with a 3000+ mile trip ahead of us it was double important this time. OK.. so today I am coming home from taking our youngest DD to school and warning lights start popping up everywhere. Scared me to death. I went right back into the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong. They think it was just a sensor. By the time I had gotten there the lights and warnings were off. They were just going to send us home with a "bring it back if it happens again", but I wouldn't have any of that. So now my van is there and they are replacing both sensors. DH is home from work because I had so much running around to do. Thank goodness he has a job that is pretty flexable.

... OK.. off to get our oldest DD from school and take her to her teaching internship.

I hope everyone else has "smooth sailing" ;) between now and when we actually do embark.

DVC Jen, :moped: The same thing happened to us last year on our way to DVC Hilton Head. But it happened the day we left  One hour into our trip, a battery light came on. We called onstar who tried to hook us up with several nearby dealers, all who recomended we get it checked right away, but none of whom would take us that day :furious: The car was not even a year old! We ended up driving 1 hour back home to our dealer who took care of the problem and even fed us lunch! We lost a total of 4 hours but did get to our hotel by 10 pm that night. You were smart to make them check your car now and I'm glad it didn't occur on your way to port :goodvibes

Jen, I am the opposite of artsy or creative (EE major), so I feel very accomplished to have made 2 signs. :) I admire those of you who can create several. Sorry about the trouble with your van. Hopefully, it will be all better soon. You guys leave pretty soon don't you? I remember that you had part of your trip before the cruise.

party: party: party: party: party: party: The cast came off today- We are on restrictive activity but it cam off. I can not wait to give her a real bath tonight!

Mickeyteacher - Congrats on the cast removal! I'll bet your DD is very glad it came off too.

Hey, I don't chime in often, but I have been following your chats. We were planning to make door signs also, but the wind left our sails when we saw we were assigned to a cabin at the very end of the hall. I'll probably still do something, though. My DD15 :cheer2: and DD4 :Pinkbounc are ready to go! DD15 is done with school, but I have until the 25th with kids and 1 day of clean-up. I live in a different county then I work so we're on different schedules.

We bought the red island print outfits at the Disney Store for our boarding photo. DD15 is just wearing a tank that coordinates. We made her match 2 years ago and she never wore the shirt again, so I didn't want to waste the doe. I was at Downtown Disney this weekend and got a family set of Pirate hats with various character ears. pirate: DD15 has the usual "how embarrassing" attitude, but I'm hoping she'll come around when she sees everyone else is wearing them. DD4 is most excited about her pirate sword and eye patch. She's practicing her swordfighting with one eye.

We want to try to make it to the meet on the not so secret deck 7 @ 3. We are also doing lunch and Mickey pool. We're wearing our suits under our boarding clothes. We get to the port around 11:00 and sit in line to board. The characters come out and entertain the young waiting masses.

Sorry so long, wanted to catch up with all. :grouphug: If you checked my profile, that's not me, I'm the DM :teacher: . The profile is my DH. :stitch:

Goofy Teacher. We are all getting excited here- I have grad school this weekend, then I have to move my classroom and then we are off to the cruise! I need the break, so I'm looking forward to it.

See you in 12 days!
Shawna

I just got off the phone and my good friend and co-worker (media specialist) just booked our cruise. She is a huge Disney fan (as we all are).

I have to move my room, too. Problem is that there is no where to move it because our new building won't be ready until June 10. I dread going back in July (can you believe we go back July 28?) On top of preplanning, I have to unpack :confused3 Oh well, not gonna stress.

We are ready to go, pirate gear in hand!

MickeyTeacher.. woohoo what great news about that cast. I am so happy for you.

GoofyTeacher - I had to laugh when I read the part about your DD15 not getting into the Pirate stuff. My DD13 is the same way. She would so NOT be caught in that stuff. I did however find a shirt she can wear that has skulls on it. She likes it because she wore it bowling with her "boyfriend" and his parents on Saturday night. I also got another t-shirt that is pirate-ish for our oldest DD17 to wear. Right now DH and I have Palo scheduled for that night, but I am going to see if I can change it on board. I don't want to miss pirate night in the dining rooms.. even if our youngest wants to. ;)

BTW.. I teach preschool (not daycare) and had to move my classroom last year. NOT fun! Good luck with that move. Did you have to bring everything home until your new room is ready? I always dread that. I never have a place to put it all.

Today is our oldest DDs last day working as an elementary intern. She was accepted into the ETI (Elementary Teaching Internship) program this year and again next. She has been an intern for a Kindergarten teacher since November and loves it. She is not looking forward to saying good-bye to the kids though. She is an emotional sap like I am. I know she will come home in tears.

June 3rd can't get here soon enough for us especially my husband. He works at a chemical plant and due to a train trussel burning has to have their "raw" chemicals brought in by trucks now. (4 loaded trucks equal 1 railroad car) He has been working 12 hours/7 days a week (midnights) now for a little over a week. He just woke up after about 4 hours of sleep and the plant called him out again, because an employee called off for a funeral. The company does not have enough workers that are certified to unload these chemicals so their options are limited on who can do it. It'll probably take him 3 or 4 days on the cruise just to start sleeping/relaxing again. You know overtime is nice sometimes, but it gets to a place when it's not worth it anymore. Oh well, enough of that. Sorry, had to vent and express how June 3rd won't be here soon enough for us.

Are many of you considering booking another cruise while on board? I'm keeping this in the back of my mind. I've heard many others say that once you go on a cruise (our first) that you will want to go again and again.

I just wanted to comment now that I hope everyone has a safe trip to/from the cruise and I am looking forward to meeting all of you. I hope to be at Deck 7 aft around 2:45-3:00. Take care! :hourglass

Wow Tam-PA that doesn't sound like much fun. You guys are really going to need and deserve this cruise. I hope your DH can relax and get his sleeping back quickly.

We have thought about booking another cruise.. I know I would love to. I am just not sure how we will financially be able to swing it. Our oldest just finished up her last day of high school. She will be a senior next year and we are looking at those wonderful college expenses. We also won't really know what her schedule will be like and or if she will be working next summer and be able to go. I would love to book onboard, but have a feeling it won't be feasible for us.

Dvc Jen and Goofyteacher, One of my DDs is soon to be 16. I'm sure she would love to meet your DDs at the Dis meet. Her name is Alyssa.

I would love to rebook another cruise while onboard the Magic, but I think we are going to do something a little different next summer. I haven't decided what we will be doing yet. :confused3 That part is still in the works, but I believe that we will be taking both kids and asking my parents if they would like to go with us. I think my DD princess: will be up for a trip next summer. She'll be 2 1/2 by then. She gets to stay with my parents for the cruise this summer.

My DH works long shifts too. So I know he will be glad to be relaxing on the cruise. It seems like my shifts never end so I know I am looking forward to this trip.
