Party = Myself, my wife, 9 yr. old Daughter, 4 yr. old Son
Lodging = Port Orleans French Qtr.
First attempt on Disney Dining Plan.

Arrived early Saturday afternoon, by 8pm Saturday evening, my son was running a 103 temp and complaining of a sore throat. Luckily our Doc from home called in a script of his normal antiboitic to the nearest 24 hr. Walgreens. They next day his fever went down some and he wanted to hit the parks. So we attempted Animal Kingdom and I could tell on the bus ride there that he was getting warmer and wasnt feeling well. He vomited right after we entered the gate to Animal Kingdom. So 5 minutes in and we were in first aid. They, along with Guest Services were fantastic... they gave us a map to an afterhours/weekend clinic and guest services transported us back to our hotel plus added another day to our park hoppers since this one was pretty much wasted.

The clinic on the other hand, was horrid. We waited forever, and after the "Doctor" finally checked him out, he said his throat was indeed red, but he was out of strep test kits. I asked him if their was any kind of injection to speed up the healing, he said Certainly, but he was out of that too. So I asked what should we do... he inquired as to what antiboitic he was on.... I gave him the script and he said that's exactly what he would give him. So a $135 "Doctor" visit later and we were exactly where we were before.

Thankfully the antibiotic started kicking in good that evening and the fever disappeared and my son was once again, jumping off the walls. So 2 days in and we finally started our vacation. It threw off the schedule and ADRs that I worked so hard for months to line up, But I surprised them by adding another night to our stay to make up for it.

Not going to go into too much details about what we did, I'll just use my photo album for that... it should be in chronological order.

I'll be happy to answer any questions about the pictures.

I will say the afternoons/evenings were plenty crowded. The food was great, but way too much. I'm glad we did the Dining Plan, but I'm not sure we'll do it again. We just normally don't eat like that and I found the table service meals very time consuming.

The resort was great except for one thing... the buses. We tried them twice and by the time we went through all the Riverside stops, it took what seems likes forever. So the rest of the time, we just took our car and got to our destination park much quicker.

Oh and and you can see from the last couple of pics, our trip ended the same way it started... in First Aid. This time at Magic Kingdom. My daughter was "stuffed" from her cheese pizza at Tony's, but just couldn't say no to that Mickey chocolate chip cookie covered in ice cream, chocolate syrup and sprinkles. I can't blame her there. Well seconds after leaving Tony's it all came right back up. She felt much better after a few minutes rest in First Aid.

Overall an excellent trip despite those setbacks.

Thank you very much for the photoexposition. Pictures really are worth a thousand words (but a lot shorter, which is important).

I LOVELOVELOVE the barnstormer pic where your daughter looks scared to death and your son looks like he's belly-laughing. What Disney is all about, right there, in one shot!

Question about some of your last pics, the cutouts with Steamboat Willie and Snow White - where is that? I'm guessing that it is in that building right at the front of the Magic Kingdom that is about Walt's early animation? My daughter is a Snow White nut, I would love to get her picture with that.

Thanks in advance! Glad you had a nice trip (except for the medical issues and the busses. Funny, we had no problems with the POFQ busses, but then, we were only ever on one bus that actually made all the stops in POR, ours usually went right from POFQ to the destination. :confused3 )

:)

Sorry your children become sick before and after. Enjoyed your pictures, thanks for sharing. I bet your kids loved WDW.

I actually read about that place on another board. It's in the same building as Tony's and the shop where you can get your Photopass pictures/film/etc. First building on your right as you enter MK. If you take the hallway in between the 2 (Tony's & camera place) and go all the way to the back of the building, they have a theatre that constantly plays Mickey cartoons and all those cutouts. It was EMPTY back there and a nice and cool place to sit and watch cartoons while waiting for our ADR.

Thanks for the information! (Hmmm, maybe I should delete my question, then you could delete your answer, and it will stay a secret so that I don't have to fight the crowds? Nah, that wouldn't be Disney-like or very nice to others.)

They had a blast. This was the 3rd trip for my daughter, first time for my son.

My daughter was tall enough to go on any attraction but was chicken of most of them. My son on the other hand was too short for most, but would've given anything to go on Tower of Terror and the like.

We noticed that in the early mornings the lines to meet characters were almost non existent. So while my wife took the kids to get autographs and pictures first thing in the mornings, I ran to get fastpasses at whatever the main attraction was that we wanted to see that day. It worked out pretty well. As much as I wanted to go back on Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower or Terrer, Expeition Everest, Space Mountain, etc... This one was for the kids. So alot of character meets and shows. I'll get my shot at the thrill rides again once my son gets a couple more inches on him. But I had a great time watching them have a great time. Can't wait to go back.

Great pics, thanks! I recognized lots of "familiar" faces! ;)

Great pics...your kids are too cute :)

and i'll be going to disney this november (first time in 9 years), so i wouldn't know this, but where would i find winnie the pooh and friends?? he is my favorite and i said i want at least one picture with him LOL and i see you had pictures in there with them. thanks ahead of time :)

I know that winnie and friends are at the Crystal Palace (in the Magic Kingdom) Character Breakfast, as we went there this past Feb. (the food was delish too :) )

Have a great trip!

OMG - :rotfl: those pictures of the kids on Barnstormer are awesome!

I totally understand about the being at the park with a sick kid! I've been there with a cisk wife for 5 days = that was awful. But this last trip we took our son was sick too - as was I , come to think of it - at least before we left.

But I'm glad things eventually worked out and you had fun!

Blessings!
