June 29, 2011-10 "MAGICAL" nights in the Mediterranean

FAVORITE EXCURSION (DCL, PRIVATE or ON OWN)?

Mine was touring Rome with Rome in Limo. So much history in our eight hour trip. The rest of the family loved Villefranche through Revelations Tours. Everything was so beautiful and the perfume factory in Eze was a big hit too.

WHAT YOU WISHED YOU PACKED?

Pants with a security pocket. I got my wallet stolen in Pamplona after the cruise.

WHAT DID YOU BRING BUT DIDN'T USE?

Rain gear. Our backup camera.

FAVORITE DINNER ENTREE/DESSERT?

The sea bass was the best meal I had on the entire cruise. The chocolate pots in Palo were the best dessert followed closely by the chocolate lava cake.

FAVORITE SHOW?

Twice Charmed. We liked all of them except Villains Tonight. Seemed like that one was trying too hard to be contemporary and cool and the humor fell flat with us more often than not.

BEST EXAMPLE OF "DISNEY MAGIC" COURTESY/SPECIAL TREATMENT ON SHIP?

The therapist in the Vista Spa spending extra time (without charge) with my wife on her hair treatment because it had gotten badly damaged right before we left for the cruise. Her hair never looked better than after that treatment.

ONE SUGGESTION OR AREA OF IMPROVEMENT?

Shorten the "pre=show" on Fireworks night. The guide said they started at 10:00, but after all the singing and dancing, they didn't actually go off until 11:00. A couple of our friends with small children couldn't stay to the end because of all the dancing and the kids missed the fireworks. At least let people know in advance they won't go off until 11:00 so they can decide whether or not their kids will be able to last that long.

Well, we finally got our luggage 30 min ago. We got home late Monday night, but better to be delayed on the return than not have it for the cruise! :thumbsup2 We've been eagerly unpacking and I already put our table linens from Nice on our dining room table, and our runner from Malta on one of the sideboards. They look terrific with our dining room! DD packed all of our pestos, chocolate sauce, jellies made from flowers, mushrooms, and lemoncino very well and bubble wrapped and in a thick plastic bag which saved all our stuff as one of the pestos (or the mushrooms in oil) leaked over all the outsides of the jars. So glad all that oil didn't get on the table linens. :) It sure smells good in our kitchen though! All the perfume and cosmetics made it safely too! And we're stocked in the perfume dept for the next 5 years! :rotfl2: So now, its off to do all the dirty laundry and think about another trip.:rotfl: Wait, there may be one in the works...just called a girlfriend and asked if she wanted to do the transatlantic with me in Sept. DH already gave his blessing! :woohoo: So just waiting for an all clear from her! Anyone ready and able to sail again in 8 weeks? Come on, it will be so much fun!

Dave- Sorry to hear about your wallet, that's awful! :sad2: But how cool that you went to Pamplona! Did you run witht he bulls? :scared: Early on in our planning for this trip my DH wanted to go to Pamplona following the cruise. He didn't want to run but wanted to watch from a balcony. We didn't end up following through with that plan. Hope you had a good time despite your misfortune.

Taina that's great! Are you doing it? I hope someday to do a transatlantic. DH is leary of rough seas so I may be going without him sometime. I was talking to the bartender in Palo and she said the EB crossing was her first and it was great, smooth sailing! I hope it comes together for you!! :goodvibes

Once I determined I would have enough money to complete my trip, I wasn't too bummed out about the wallet. Fortunately, I had just paid my tips to the crew in cash the day before so it was pretty much dry anyway. :rotfl2:

We had a GREAT time wondering around Spain for a few days after the cruise. My wife has already said we are definitely doing another Disney cruise, and the kids have proclaimed it the "best vacation ever" to anyone who will listen to them.

Taina - I actually looked at this cruise before the Med cruise. Its pretty darn cheap!! If airfare wasn't so ridiculous, I might be tempted. 14 days on the ship? Heaven!! (except when I tried to put on my pants - haha!)

If anyone would like the website for the copyright release form for your cruise pictures purchased at Shutters, send me a PM or email and I'll send it to you!

I am! Unfortunately my friend who I wanted to cruise with can't go due to health issues, but another woman on the cruise was looking for a roomate as hers had to cancel, and the price was too good to pass up!

So glad to have met you and your family! DCL is just amazing in my book! :cloud9:

You can get some great airfare on www.1800flyeurope.com and also www.kayak.com I found fares for $600 from Houston one way. I just need to book a one way from Orlando to Houston. I am even considering a short trip to London perhaps beforehand. Want to go???? I am planning to do my nightly workout like I did on the Med (in Rockin Bar D). I didn't gain anything! :goodvibes Of course I also walked my butt off in ports so I'll have to up the routine for those 9 sea days! :woohoo: Can you imagine??:dance3:

hi all!

I have a question for the FE-exchanger who gave the CD? I'm sorry - I forget who that was... can you PM me please?

Hope everyone's doing well... it's weird not to be on this board, planning, daydreaming about the trip. Now the obsession is, what to do with all the pictures!!!!

xoxo

FAVORITE EXCURSION, Was booking on our own with Rome Connection for Naples, and getting Guseppe, who drove us all over the place! Loved that port so much to see, we would go back there over anywhere else!

WHAT YOU WISHED YOU PACKED? Did pretty well here, nothing extra

FAVORITE DINNER ENTREE/DESSERT? Was the semi formal night, the pork cordon bleu, liked it better than the lobster they served me.

FAVORITE SHOW? Villans tonight! Too funny

BEST EXAMPLE OF "DISNEY MAGIC" COURTESY/SPECIAL TREATMENT ON SHIP? Dinner and brunch in Palo's, so good.

ONE SUGGESTION OR AREA OF IMPROVEMENT? They needed more adult entertainment at night, not much going on really, very dissapointed we didn't have something every night and nothing after 10:30.

The absolute best was all of you who participated in the FE exchange and were so kind as to include our cabin at the last minute. My girls still talk about the cruise, the friends they made from the meet and greet and all the fun stuff we received.

Thank you all so much, I hope to cruise with you again in the future!
