I've been meaning to tell you guys about an awesome website I found when I was doing welcome bags for our vow renewal. Now I am using it to do "care packages" for our DD22 and DSnearly18 for the flight and for snacks in the hotel rooms and on the ship and for travel size toiletries for our pre-cruise Barcelona stay, etc. I found inflatable neck pillows on sale for half price, too, at $6.50, IIRC. I also got travel size toilet tissue, etc. for our shore excursion totes. The website is minimus dot biz

DCLShel - Thanks for the info! I was wondering about the formal nights. Guess where I am going after I type this? To check your thread below! I probably already checked it...I am finding I am re-looking at sites I already looked at...but things change!

I sent a note to the TSA asking about locks on luggage - - TSA recommends leaving baggage unlocked, but it is not a requirement. TSA is not liable for any damage to the locks or luggage that occurs if bag is opened. TSA approved locks (they say TSA can identify, unlock, and then relock) Travel Sentry and Safe Skies locks (and you can check their sites). TSA cannot guarantee these locks will not get damage or lost if a check is needed. Supposedly, hand screening is required when the bag triggers an alarm. Cam said she had a friend that put on TSA approved locks and theives still got into their luggage and took their electronics. TSA also states you can file a claim (they say, see www.tsa.gov for more info)for missing items, but I doubt that will go anywhere.

Also read an article on AOL.COM about finding cheap airport parking on the web. I think they had top 10 - they listed BestParking.com, About Airport parking , longtermparking.com, airportparkingreservations.com, ParkrideflyUSA.com....that should get you started if you are interested.

I found a thread on the boards which is trying to organize info about the different Med ports. There is a lot of information on it! I thought it might be helpful~

No matter how much research I do, I just don't feel like its enough!:sad2:

Hi all. I haven't been on this site for awhile but since I just paid our balance I figured it was time to check back.
We are Jane, John and DD's Meredith 19 and Bronwyn 17 from Ottawa, Canada.
We are still looking at excursions but have settled on Rome in Limo for Naples and a Disney excursion for Rome. Probably doing Malta, Palermo , Corsica and Villfrance on our own. Still debating La Spezia.
I'm not interested in the fish extenders
Thanks for the great info everyone is giving out.
Jane

made the final whopping payment on the cruise today. (I think it's officially due on Sunday)...

now it REALLY feels official!!!!

can't wait!

EEK! I'm confused. Why do you think it is due Sunday? I think it is due March 16 or something like that (though I intend to pay it off early). I don't want to pay it off too early since I have to do our travel insurance before paying the final payment.

Not sure when final payment is due since we change our reservation and had to pay the full amount at that time. However, I thought it was due in Feb. I believe Gold Castaway Club members can begin making online reservations for spa/excursions/Palo as of March 16th.

Cam - you might want to double check your due date.

Final payment due Feb 28th and Gold members can book online reservations March 16th.

EEK! I have been so busy with the whole college selection process and some huge stuff at work that I forgot that the final payment is due March 1. Fortunately, Howard is researching trip insurance so we can arrange for that and then make the final payment on both cabins. Thank you for the reminders!

cam - are you sure it's due 3/1 and not 2/28? just double check -- i don't want you get screwed!! xxo

Jen, I can't believe you're going on this cruise too!! I haven't logged on for a couple weeks as we've had a lot of visitors, but we look forward to catching up with you on the cruise! I still get a kick out of running into you at the pumpkin patch.

Hi!

Just wanted to join the thread. My name's Jen and I'll be traveling on the cruise with my DH, John, and my two boys, Max (8) and Nico (6) - or at least that's how old they'll be once the cruise starts.

This will be our fifth Disney cruise and our second Med cruise. We are from California but are living in Switzerland (yes, just like macasi who we sailed the Baltics with last year). Also, we spent two weeks in Eze-sur-Mer last Easter, so we know those buses to Nice/Monaco and the train to Cannes/Antibes pretty well.

Oh, and we'd like to sign up for fish extender!

Just beginning to get excited for the cruise. Haven't started planning anything yet.

Hi,

I'd love to be in the Fish Extender Group! We will have at least 5 to participate -- myself, my husband, DS 13, DS 10, and DD 7. I am undecided if I will do it for my inlaws as well -- will check back if I decide to add them. I included them on our last cruise, and I think they had fun, but they didn't entirely "get" it.

I'd love to get as close to the final count on fish extenders as possible by May 1. I know it seems super early, but I'm actually going to make a portion of them, and I need time to do so! Well, to be honest, my mother is going to make a portion of them, and I need time for her to finish them and get them to Switzerland so that I can take them with me.

Thank you, sweetie! I did check and we have until March 1 at 11:59 pm.

We've purchased our travel insurance and I'm breathing a sigh of relief. Now we'll pay the balance and it will seem even more real.

Macassi and Grizzbuzz - I can't wait to talk to you about the Baltic Cruise. I want to do that one next. Want to hear the gory details!

Surfergirl - since you all are doing the Rome in Limo in Naples (and we already signed up for it too).......We are doing Pompeii, Sorrento, Almafi Drive and Positano. R U doing the same? If so.....

Do you want to try and do together? It's a little cheaper getting a bigger van. I don't mind doing with 1 other family - and I think it could be fun! My daughter and I can get car sick (it really doesnt happen often - but as long as we sit up front - we should be ok...) You don't have to stick with us if you don't want to.....but I also got a Pompeii tour guide that you all could just tagalong if you wanted to. Since you already have a reservation, you could give me the details and I could let them know. Just give me a shout. I have been trying to only sign on once a week - so it might be a week before you hear from me (or use my e-mail address from Cam's list).

I am astonished at how quickly time is flying now. We paid both cabins in full and will be excited to plan excursions, etc. to make those decisions before mid-March when Gold CC members can book stuff. We have to decide quickly whether we are doing ports on our own, private excursions, or DCL excursions so that we can be prepared when the booking date opens.

Isn't this fun?

I haven't even started planning! Reading this board is making me feel very behind.

I believe you can cancel the Disney excursions with no penalties, so my plan is to book any excursion we have interest and then cancel if we decide to do a port on our own. I know one challenge is that my kids (7, 10, 13) are going to have a hard time doing excursions every day -- they love the sea days the best. We will have to do some short excursions so that they have time on the boat. The great thing about living in Switzerland is that we can treat each port as a teaser -- if we like it, we'll just make plans to return for a long weekend. We loved Stockholm so much on the Baltic cruise that we went back for a weekend in October. We even got to see our home hockey team -- the San Jose Sharks -- open their season!

I am so excited. I just borrowed Rick Steves' "Spain and Portugal" DVD from our library and can't wait to watch the segment on Barcelona and Catalunya (sp?). It only took about a week to come in. I am going to track down the DVDs for whichever other locations are available.

Thanks for the idea.

I went down to the library today and found a DVD on Italy and a VHS tape on Barcelona. I'll be watching both over the weekend.
