Well, Me and my wife of 14 years have just returned from the Disney Wonder 3 Day Cruise to Bahamas on the 29th of June.
We loved every minute... We have a 12 year old boy, but he was with Grandparents for the summer... it was our first cruise and we did not make any shore excursions or Palo Reservations. We prefered to see the islands on our own time, not meet any kind of appointment or have to worry about a schedule... too much like work and not vacation. Pro's & Con's
- I'm in the US Air Force so we had a super discount from the Salute to Armed Forces program just over $1000 for the two of us.
- The Soda package really doesn't make any sence to us, we didn't understand why we would get all the soda and food you wanted during a meal and yet pay for sodas when away from the table.
- The characters where all over the place, yes there where lines but, very easy to catch in route to another time.
- The Shows where incredible! Each a much see for anyone devoted to Disney as I assume we all are.
- I don't understand why anyone would pay for excursions they could simply do on their own. The Parasail or Glass bottom boat Yes. but Atlantis is easy to do on your own.
- The Staff are Wonderful!!! PJ from Australia, George from India, Ardi from Bangladesh (I think), and Noel from the Philippines kept our Stateroom fresh everytime we stepped out.
- For adults you have to spend the time at Serenity Bay!!! Bring Snorkel Gear for sandollars and starfish
- Bingo is not organized very well took longer to verify wins than to play the game. not very entertaining compared to other activities. Mate Match was alot of fun,
- We didn't waste our time with movies we could see at a home theater, however they were free.
- Shutters is a photo hallway where they display your pictures for pickup. alot of good shots of other people, ours always seemed to be rushed and we could never pose the way we wanted, I would put my hands on my wifes sholder or around her waist which is a natural pose for us, they would insist on removing my hands. Boy what a waste of kodak paper...
- The Kids programs seemed to be wonderful. I stopped by the doorway of the Oceaneers lab and found it quite entertaining. We did notice alot of older teens running around the ship which could cause some problems, They may have been in some kind of scavanger hunt or something, but a bit too loud to be running down the halls of the staterooms in a group.
- Luggage and customs a breeze, keep cameras and expensive items on your carry on.
- They have a tv channel that tells you where you are and how fast you are going, how far from the next port and temp of the pools and water, and best of all times of the next Sunrise and sunset, perfect for romantic moments on the verandah with your mate.
Wow, I know I have more... But I'll post them later when I think of them...
